Origins spoilers are starting to pop up.MTG Sally Spoiler Link Interesting notes: Menace (can't be blocked except by two or more creatures) is a keyword. Prowess and Scry appear to be turning evergreen. Moonmist kills any of the 'transform' creature/planeswalkers in the set, or at least Liliana at this point. Interesting cards so far:
quote: Liliana, Heretical Healer {1}{B}{B} Legendary Creature - Human Cleric Lifelink Whenever another nontoken creature you control dies, exile Liliana Heretical Healer, then return her to the battlefield transformed under her owner's control. If you do, put a 2/2 black Zombie creature token onto the battlefield. 2/3Liliana, Defiant Necromancer Planeswalker - Liliana +2: Each player discards a card. -X: Return target nonlegendary creature with converted mana cost X from your graveyard to the battlefield. -8: You get an emblem with "Whenever a creature you control dies, return it to the battlefield under your control at the beginning of the next end step. Starting Loyalty: 3"
quote: Hixus, Prison Warden {3}{W}{W} Legendary Creature - Human Soldier Flash Whenever a creature deals combat damage to you, if Hixus, Prison Warden entered the battlefield this turn, exile that creature until Hixus leaves the battlefield. 4/4
quote: Avaricious Dragon {2}{R}{R} Creature - Dragon Flying At the beginning of your draw step, draw an additional card. At the beginning of your end step, discard your hand. "Waste follows want." 4/4

You should read this article http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/making-magic/evergreen-eggs-ham-2015-06-08Prowess, scry, and menace are now evergreen (every set). Protection is now occasional (not in every set, one card in origins). Landwalk and intimidate are gone.

The new Jace's -3 Planeswalker ability reminds me of Bosium Strip. So no, he's Mr. Bosium.

Scry is evergreen. That means Serum Visions could be reprinted any time, not just in Origins. In the mean time I'm going to be selling my serum visions, because a common from 2004 should not be that expensive. It was impossible to sell or trdae promo serum visions cards for years.

I first started looking at spoilers on Monday, noticed 3 common elves, and immediately got the thought in my head that Heritage Druid would appear in this set. Of course, this is baseless speculation from when I was bored at 3 in the afternoon.

Well there is an elf lord if that's any consolation.

Gideon looks like an auto include in R/W tokens for the summer. Then he will most likely fall off the face of the Earth.
quote: Kytheon, Hero of Akros {W} Legendary Creature - Human Soldier At end of combat, if Kytheon, Hero of Akros and at least two other creatures attacked this combat, exile Kytheon, then return him to the battlefield transformed under his owner's control. 2W: Kytheon gains indestructible until end of turn 2/1Gideon, Battle Forged Planeswalker - Gideon +2: Up to one target creature an opponent controls attacks Gideon, Battle-Forged during its controller's next turn if able. +1: Until your next turn, target creature gains indestructible. Untap that creature. 0: Until end of turn, Gideon, Battle-Forged becomes a 4/4 Human Soldier creature with indestructible that's still a planeswalker. Prevent all damage that would be dealt to him this turn. Loyalty: 3
Leaf Glider may be a sign that R&D is moving away from 1 mana ramp, or just a temporary thing that may signal some elf love in BFZ.
quote: Leaf Glider {1}{G} Creature - Elf Druid T: Add G to your mana pool. 2/1
Dwynen; unexciting but might end up in sideboards as a more stable lord against red based removal or to hedge against Inquisition of Kozilek decks.
quote: Dwynen, Gilt-Leaf Daen {2}{G}{G} Legendary Creature - Elf Warrior Reach Other Elf creatures you control get +1/+1. Whenever Dwynen, Gilt-Leaf Daen attacks, you gain 1 life for each attacking Elf you control. 3/4
Chandra's Fury is straight limited hotness that I'm actually excited to draft for once. Normally red rares just frowny face me.
quote: Chandra's Fury {3}{R}{R} Sorcery Target creature you control deals damage equal to its power to each other creature and each opponent.
Nissa looks bananas for standard. Jace and Chandra are spoiled too but are less exciting.
quote: Nissa, Vastwood Seer {2}{G} Legendary Creature - Elf Scout When Nissa, Vastwood Seer enters the battlefield, you may search your library for a basic Forest card, reveal it, put it into your hand, then shuffle your library. Whenever a land enters the battlefield under your control, if you control seven or more lands, exile Nissa, then return her to the battlefield transformed under her owner's control. 2/2Nissa, Sage Animist Planeswalker - Nissa +1: Reveal the top card of your library. If it's a land card, put it onto the battlefield. Otherwise, put it into your hand. -2: Put a legendary 4/4 green Elemental creature token named Ashaya, the Awoken World onto the battlefield. -7: Untap up to six target lands. They become 6/6 Elemental creatures. They're still lands. Loyalty: 3

Rosewater confirmed your suspicion last year. They are moving away from 1 drop mana guys because they are "too strong". http://markrosewater.tumblr.com/post/106100196288/why-are-recent-manadorks- more-than-1-cmc-the-only

Hmmm, after some consideration, NVS will be finding a home in several of my decks; her +1 is just good enough, and she is able to protect her sefl somewhat with the -2. The -7 is about as worthless as I can imagine for my purposes. Also, findin a land-drop isn't that bad of a 3-mana trigger ability.... at leat she's a 2/2.Regarding Liliana, if it was a trigger that could happen more then one time before she flips, that'd be nice - she'd be an amazing combo value engine. Still, a 2/3 for 1BB is going to be seen somewhere and tested at least once...... her planeswalker abilities on the other hand.... -3, E-Wit, restart the cycle? Hixus and Avaricious Dragon are both terrible.

Idk, I'm actually kinda ok with the jace. Nissa is (imo) nothing more than civic wayfinder.

A civic wayfinder that's a 4/4 with upside in the late game...quote: Originally posted by flam flawless: Idk, I'm actually kinda ok with the jace. Nissa is (imo) nothing more than civic wayfinder.

All of these PWs are bad. This set looks dreadful....maybe WOTC is making the final core set so bad it leaves a horrible taste which nobody ever forgets, and we will never ask for it to come back?5 mythics spoiled so far, all the PWs, and they all seem like busts.

These planeswalkers don't look particularly less exciting than M15. Seems like the core set ship is staying on course.

Gideon looks good. He's Savannah Lions but turns into a planeswalker who does stuff.

Who is going to buy this set? Opening packs of core is for newbs, especially this one, so far. They are going to be in high demand for trading though if they open the 2 good cards in the set.

I might be that idiot.1. I will spend a day drafting it with friends 2. I will probably want some of the cards for GP San Diego a few weeks later. 3. I'm addicted to cracking packs. The quality of the set determines whether I get one or two boxes.

1. drafting is fine, because that is fun with friends 2. singles you want are way cheaper and will be everywhere in SD 3. touche
