Man, those prices: http://classic.magictraders.com/ubb/Forum10/HTML/000229.html I never even guessed at the time that I should have invested all my money in cardboard... __________________ Everyone you meet is going through something * BoltBait is the official holder of the MOTL Logout Button [Trades] [Rules] [FAQ] [Prices] [Card Searches] [Tools] [WotC] [Dominoes] [Art] [#MOTL Chat] [Logout]

Yeah, I was at Gencon in the very early 2000s and dual lands had just rotated out of Extended, and there was a guy there with a giant stack of duals at $5 each. I was pretty young and had almost no cash unfortunately.

I bought an Unlimited Lotus, Ruby and Jet and a Beta Recall for $250 back in 1998ish. Probably cost $14,000 for similar conditioned cards today.

Now so old that I have a real job and stuff and put some money into an RRSP. And that money's barely appreciating. My magic cards after I got too lazy to sell them and sick of dealing with flakes not sending me money for my beta/AN/AQ stuff? Appreciating like crazy. Clearly I should have invested all (even more of all) my money in magic cards.

Who would have thought that back in 1993/1994 that MTG was way of the future? Now that I am 35 I really don't play the game anymore so I've focused the last few years on collecting but as prices keep climbing year after year I really don't have it in me to completely sell out either. I own complete sets of old school cards and if I do ever choose to sell those they will also be getting sold as complete sets. At prices like they are today it's like owning a piece of art or a collectors car.

I feel pretty much the same way. I'd really like to get back into playing, though.

Almost 18. Rookie. So when is the next payment for the site due, anyone knows about that? Will good ol' Leshrac continue the suffering that this site has become or put it out of its misery? __________________ I'm a geek, you're a geek. I thought I was old here. In June starts my 13th year here but it feels like it's been an eternity. Almost 25 years ago when I started playing/collecting.

Just checking back in.June 17 will be my 19th year. Holy carp. I'm so sorry there's not much left of this community, though. I pretty much grew up on MOTL, and I'm much better for it all. I learned a lot from the people here--including when I was absolutely dead wrong about various issues. I'm part of another forum which has been abandoned by its parent entities. Happily, we've gotten our act together and made a new home for it, and 100 or so core contributors have made the switch over. It's a far cry from its 400k membership, but like MOTL the forum had been languishing for some time. I guess it's too late for MOTL, though. Wish we'd gotten our act together and just tried it. __________________ "I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each. I do not think they will sing to me." -T.S. Me too. Except I wasn't and I made a lot of wrong guesses on the password. I think Leshrac should hand the reins to someone else who's willing to bring life back to this site.

I just did some searching to see who owns the site- Eddie Holman - and I also see that people have tried to get his attention before to try to convince him to give administrator access to someone more active on here. Maybe it's worth another try. He neglects the site but he still pays the bills so he must care a little bit about it. __________________ | ~~ The STFU ~~ _l""|"\__, |~~~ TRUCK ~~~ _l'_|'_|_|) |(@)(@)""**|(@)(@)"**|(@)

On a big side note, hi Don! have you sent first to anyone lately?

Don't get me started. They came with a plan and then, right before kick-off, they abandoned it somehow without reason. Bastards. I literally spent days on that site trying to get rid of all the early spamming and keep it orderly. At one point it was harder to get a reaction from them than it was to find Atlantis on the peak of Mount McKinley. At least I tried. And I can say that I've been a mod on a site. Can tick that off my list. EDIT: Guess you did get me started. What was that putz's handle here on MOTL again? __________________ I'm a geek, you're a geek. As before, we nearly did. Early layout and Forums were done. All they needed to do was to carry on developing. It was nearly that time like in Field of Dreams: "If you build it.." __________________ I'm a geek, you're a geek. Let's trade.Lord Flasheart: Enter the man who has no underwear. Ask me why.
