You can just mail them to PO Box 70331 Seattle, WA 98127-0331 But keep in mind it may take up to a year to get them back.

I was also looking to maybe start picking up some signed cards by Venters.... Does anyone know how "tingxuan" from ebay is as a seller? I'm always alittle uneasey about buying cards from Singapore.

I unfortunately have had to buy his overpriced cards because alot of them are hard to find. However, they always have gotten here and the condition is usually spot on. If you don't mind paying high prices, I would 100% recommend him. Jason

I've a few more quick questions about signed cards.... When buying a signed card from someone else how likely would it be that the sig is forged? Which is the better practice buying signed cards or sending them to the artist to sign? I'm thinking it would be better to send low cost cards to the artist and buy the higher value ones that have already been signed is this correct thinking?

If you're unsure about a sig don't buy it. There are forgeries out there but a lot of times the sig is not the artist but someone else entirely (a pro / Garfield / WOTC employee or someone else). I personally do both (buy / send). I like the interaction with the artists. Most of them are nice guys/girls. Problem is that it might take a lot of time to get your cards back or that the artist stopped signing cards. Additionally trading signed cards with other signed cards collectors is a good idea too...come to think of it: Hermann up for a new trade? If so, mail me...Got some nice new stuff you'd might like... Yeah, your course of action could work. If you have a question about a sig, ask...For 99% of the cards we can tell if the sig is/looks legit. __________________ Collecting signed cards. So I'm meeting Tony DiTerlizzi this weekend and I think I'd like to have the original art for Goblin Masons customized in some way. I don't really want him to sign the front of the piece, but maybe the back, or the matte that it's framed with. For all you original art collectors - is this a bad idea to begin with? If you have any of your pieces signed, I'd be all ears to some suggestions. __________________ 2010 Homer Simpson Award Winnerhttp://classic.magictraders.com/ubb/Forum12/HTML/016901.html

First of all, there's no bad idea if you're going to like it in the end. In most of (if not all) the paintings I have the artist has already signed in the corner somewhere after they finished it.I've never had an artist sign or alter the painting after I acquired it. That being said, I think it's fine to do whatever you want with the original because you own it. If you are concerned with resale value later on, it's kind of a toss up as some people may like the alteration and some people want it exactly as the card appeared in a published medium. Some people frame Magic cards or Proofs with the original, and even some artists do this right off the bat. I can't stand having a Magic card framed with the painting, but some people find it pleasant. The only time I feel contrary to this idea is when I think about framing the Inquest magazine with the Juzam alternate art painting from the cover.

Chris- I would urge you to consider having him customize the back of the piece. My wife has an original painting of a page from a children's book. The artist personalized it on the art and it bugs her to this day. In fact, when people see it hanging in our home, they assume it's a print because of the writing/small sketch. My .02

Please have him sign the back, date it when he finished it and make sure he puts what he named it and what wotc named it ideally.Customized works, after the fact, lose considerable value and collectors deem them lower quality. They "need" to be optimized. The work can stand on its own. If it can't, it'll need...something.

"So I'm meeting Tony DiTerlizzi this weekend and I think I'd like to have the original art for Goblin Masons customized in some way. I don't really want him to sign the front of the piece, but maybe the back, or the matte that it's framed with."The art is already customized in the sense that it's a unique item. If art is unsigned there's a reason that the artist didn't sign. some guys just don't sign stuff. Other guys don't sign stuff that they feel isn't the best work they've created. Is this signed already and you want it done again? Larry Elmore does this, if you buy an original piece it's already signed and then he resigns it, and it looks wrong imo... "For all you original art collectors - is this a bad idea to begin with? If you have any of your pieces signed, I'd be all ears to some suggestions." I only had a few unsigned pieces, 2 Cavottas and a few other minor pieces. I think Cavotta just didn't sign at the time as the art is superior (hardcover book cover illustrations) Spectrum quality stuff. I have LOTS of art and it's all signed asides from the few. I think it's a bad idea to ask. He's well known now and you kinda don't want to mess with the image as it could actually turn people off if you ever flip it. The back of the art is your best bet if you ask him to do anything. If it's framed and the back is covered I've only seen Clive Barker sign something that way and he's the only artist that I know who actually signs the back of the canvas versus the front. There could be lots of artists who do that (sign in back) but illustrators generally sign in front to advertise themselves. Sorry for the long post. ~Just checked and my DiTerlizzi art is all signed so I assume you want another sig? That's sort of unusual.

Ok to make a short story long, I picked up a Jace from a dealer booth at worlds with the intention of having Jason Chan scribble on it (it's the one signed in black in the picture). He signed the one I had previously unsigned (the one in silver), but the two signatures look totally different. Is that signature in black even his? If not, who signed the card in black ink?http://i40.tinypic.com/n37uv8.jpg

Maybe, but it's definitely not Chan's sig. As for Chippy, he had a blog a few years back but that's about it, no website.

Whats the best way to get Zoltan Boros and Gabor Szikszai to sign a card? Their website looks old.
