I actually just wrote an article for my blog that shows the state of the metagame based off of States / Provincials and the GP! It analyses which decks placed the most and has some interesting data points. Check it out if you're so inclined! The link is in my sig.Cheers, Carl __________________ The mana pool has all the answers... especially 'no'.Check out my MTG Blog! Http://donttrainmyorgg.blogspot.com[/small]

I've been playing Wolf Run Ramp for awhile. I've been winning enough to "go infinite" (win back more in store credit than I pay in the entry fee). Last week, I played this to 3-1: 4 Birds of Paradise 4 Dungrove Elder 2 Thrun, the Last Troll 3 Solemn Simulacrum 4 Primeval Titan 2 Wurmcoil Engine 4 Garruk, Primal Hunter 4 Rampant Growth 4 Autumn's Veil 4 Green Sun's Zenith 1 Mountain 1 Inkmoth Nexus 1 Kessig Wolf Run 22 Forest My friend thought I was insane for running 4 Autumn's Veil maindeck, but I NEVER sided them out. He asked me, "What do you do when you face a non-blue deck" Me: "Besides me, who's running a non-blue deck tonight?" I think there was someone else running WRR, and a RDW deck, otherwise, the field was URB control, UB control, UW Illusions, UWB control, GRU aggro-control, UR Delver, URB Burning Vengeance. EVERYONE but two other people and me seemed to be running 4ManaLeak.dec as their deck. Autumn's Veil was awesome in that meta (as was Thrun). I only lost one match because I had to race Grave Titan, and when my opponent had NO cards in hand, he started his turn, played Forbidden Alchemy during his main phase and kept one card and passed the turn. I had little recourse other than hoping he was bluffing me, and I attacked with Inkmoth Nexus and pumped it up for 9. He played Wring Flesh. If only I had an Autumn's Veil that game... The week before, I went 4-0 with a heavier red version of WRR: 4 Galvanic Blast 3 Slagstorm 4 Rampant Growth 4 Garruk Primal Hunter 4 Green Sun's Zenith 4 Birds of Paradise 3 Solemn Simulacrum 1 Acidic Slime 4 Primeval Titan 4 Inferno Titan 4 Rootbound Crag 4 Copperline Gorge 2 Kessig Wolf Run 4 Inkmoth Nexus 2 Mountain 9 Forest Despite my better record, I didn't feel like my deck was better or I played better or even that my draws were necessarily that much better. I got some above average draws, while one of my opponents had a bad draw, and I just played spell after spell, until one hit. In the mirror, I won by virtue of ramping out faster than he did, landing Inferno Titan, which cleared his board, then next turn playing a second Inferno Titan to deal 3 to his Primeval Titan and the attack from the first killed it. He had no answers to double Inferno Titan. The deck is still good, but you have to play and build it correctly and I still haven't come up with a good sideboard.

solar flare, heh I don't think its as bad as people make it out. My list is a tad unusual w/ the lack of wurm coils main... from memory: 4 mana leak 4 forbidden alchemy 3 think twice 2 snapcaster 2 suntitan 1 rune-scarred demon 1 elesh norn 3 phantasmal image 2 oblivion ring 3 day of judgment 2 timely reinforcements 2 unburial rites 3 doomblade something like that. pretty sure I'm missing a 2-of or my numbers are slightly off on something. It does okay for me. I have wurmcoils in the board for matchups where they're really needed as well as the second elesh.

I don't know, but I've been playing that mono-red deck that 6-0'd worlds, with the sideboard tweaked for my meta. The deck is legit. 7-1-1 in the past week.__________________ MOTL's Most Likely to Play in the Pro Tour - 2007, 2008, and 2009 (My Nationals) The Official Tower Magic Facebook Page

I'm using a slightly modified list (did well at the SCG event 2 weeks ago) with a green splash for Ancient Grudge in the SB and am loving it. The only change in the main deck is -3 Mountain, +3 Rootbound Crag. MAB_Rapper's list for reference: 21 Mountain 4 Chandra's Phoenix 4 Goblin Fireslinger 3 Grim Lavamancer 1 Spikeshot Elder 4 Stormblood Berserker 4 Stromkirk Noble 2 Arc Trail 3 Galvanic Blast 4 Gut Shot 2 Incinerate 4 Shrine of Burning Rage 4 Volt Charge SB: (From Worlds) 2 Arc Trail 4 Dismember 2 Koth of the Hammer 1 Manic Vandal 2 Traitorous Blood 4 Vulshok Refugee

How many Heros do you sb? I currently have 2 and am thinking of either putting in another, or playing 1 MD. I absolutely hate Koth in the current meta (and my local meta).

I am doing 2 now, since drawing that many early is still a problem. __________________ MOTL's Most Likely to Play in the Pro Tour - 2007, 2008, and 2009 (My Nationals) The Official Tower Magic Facebook Page

I'm still playing Solar Flare at the moment. It is so much fun and seems to consistently have answers I need. I also am looking at Burning Vengeance decks. Anyone have a decklist they've had success with lately?~MM __________________ I am MeddlingMage...YOUR Motl Survivor 11 Champion, 2007 Captain N award winner, 2010 Marlboro award winner, and 2011 Champion Tournament Pick'em MOTL NCAA Bracket Challenge winner!CM Punk "OMG Kevin Nash WTF, thought he was dead, LOL" New keeper of the Logout button

Here is my take on it. In regards to the off color flashback costs, I just play 4 grotto and get one and I am set for the game. I don't think it is the most powerful manabase by any means, but 4 colorless lands has never hurt me. // Lands 4 [ISD] Sulfur Falls 6 [7E] Mountain (2) 10 [B] Island (1) 4 [ISD] Shimmering Grotto
// Creatures 4 [ISD] Snapcaster Mage // Spells 3 [MBS] Slagstorm 2 [TSP] Ancient Grudge 3 [ISD] Burning Vengeance 3 [ISD] Geistflame 1 [ISD] Sever the Bloodline 1 [ISD] Devil's Play 4 [SH] Mana Leak 4 [ISD] Forbidden Alchemy 3 [FNM] Dissipate 4 [ISD] Desperate Ravings 4 [TSP] Think Twice // Sideboard SB: 1 [MBS] Slagstorm SB: 2 [TSP] Ancient Grudge SB: 4 [FBP] Chandra's Phoenix SB: 1 [ISD] Tribute to Hunger SB: 2 [NPH] Surgical Extraction SB: 3 [M12] Flashfreeze

This is my deck i play at my LGS. I got first place last week. I beat mage blade, GB infect, 2x GW aggro, and solar flare. 4 Champion of the Parish 4 Doomed Traveler 3 Fiend Hunter 3 Geist of Saint Traft 4 Grand Abolisher 4 Hero of Bladehold 4 Mirran Crusader
4 Honor of the Pure 4 Mana Leak 4 Oblivion Ring
4 Glacial Fortress 3 Moorland Haunt 11 Plains 3 Seachrome Coast 1 Island
SB 3 Divine offering 3 Negate 3 Celestial Purge 3 Flash Freeze 3 Timely Reinforcements
I learned when playing control decks is try and bait them out and let them counter early spells to let them waste the counters and they usually dont have a answer for your bombs. This is my best play when i was playing a game. I knew he had a day in his hand i played crusader a turn before. He missed his land drop so he passed and on my turn i swing with the crusader play my land and played fiend hunter removing my crusader. He got mad cause he knew if he Dayed the thing will be coming back. So i just made him have a useless card in his hand.

[Creatures]: [4] Spellskite [4] Phyrexian Metamorph [4] Solemn Simulacrum [4] Rune-Scarred Demon [2] Wurmcoil Engine [1] Precursor Golem [1] Massacre Wurm [1] Sheoldred, Whispering One[Planeswalkers]: [1] Karn Liberated [Other Spells]: [4] Despise [4] Heartless Summoning [2] Geth's Verdict [2] Tribute To Hunger [1] Diabolic Tutor [1] Black Sun's Zenith [Artifacts]: [1] Elixir Of Immortality [Lands]: [2] Ghost Quarter [4] Buried Ruin [4] Drowned Catacomb [13] Swamp -------- [Sideboard]: [2] Ghost Quarter [1] Mindslaver [1] Sheoldred, Whispering One [1] Diabolic Tutor [1] Steel Hellkite [4] Skinrender [2] Geth's Verdict [1] Tribute To Hunger [2] Surgical Extraction And now the explanation on how it works: How do I begin? Well lets go through card by card. This version of the deck is built specifically to target decks locally, A lot of people here love Blue, White and Black. I see so many Mirran Crusaders during an FNM its disgusting. It seems thats what everyone plays here. Thats why there is the "Edict" effects in the deck instead of specific targeting. Im trying something new with the Precursor in there tonight, It sounds good on paper using him to have turn three 6 power among 3 different creatures, turn 4 even more with Metamorphs. I may add another Precursor tonight if I can find one. Elixir Of Immortality is a LIFE SAVER. A few people run Downyards or other versions of mill and its so annoying. It helps so much. Sheoldred is amazing, so is Wurmcoils. Karn, He was a big addition to the deck as I was frequently running into problems with artifacts and Enchantments that I had no other way to deal with. He is amazing. Steel Hellkite wasnt cutting it for me and I was not running Spine. Massacre Wurm is also a new addition to the Main Deck. It also seems very good versus White Weenie and also awesome to Metamorph. Im also considering one Monomania just to wreck hands but not sure on that one yet. Its fun going: Rune-Scarred, Metamorph, Metamorph, Metamorph, Search for plan b.
This deck has been so much fun to play and does very well. It most defiently wins more than it loses.

I was gonna put in more but wasn't sure if it would be a good idea to add a third colour. Is it so weird to have 8 titans in a deck? 1st place at a Worlds tournament in San Francisco, California, United States on 2011-11-20 Personally I love the idea of having that much beatdown. Even if I lose it'll probably still be fun to bring that much beef to my opponents. I play for fun, not to increase ratings or get crappy fnm foils. __________________ |My Angels~My P9 l""|"\__, |~~My #1 Angel~~l'_|'_|_|) |(@)(@)""***|(@)(@)**|(@)

I've been playing R/G ramp for quite awhile now (last Friday I just went 3-1, only losing to the guy who went 4-0) and 8 titans has not been a problem at all.I'm not fond of Don's build, particularly not loving the Viridian Emissary or Incinerates. The Viridian Emissary doesn't guarantee a T3 Solemn or a T5 Titan the way that Sphere of the Suns or Rampant Growth does. Incinerate hits only slightly more targets with 3 damage, rather than 2 (in Galvanic Blast), but the one mana can sometimes be all the difference in the world. I can easily keep one mountain untapped to guard against a pumped up Nexus and more importantly, I can answer a turn one creature (Delver, Avacyn's Pilgrim, Birds of Paradise, Llanowar Elves, Stromkirk Noble) with a Galvanic Blast rather than with an Incinerate.
