As some of you may have seen, I have been asking questions about which deck should I play in an upcoming tourney at my LGS. I have this currently built:Pod Deck 4x Birthing Pod 2x Naturalize 1x Beast Within (only have 1 ) 3x Dismember Creatures (1cc) 4x Birds of Paradise 2x Llanowar Elf (2cc) 2x Viridian Emissary 2x Phantasmal Image 1x Perilous Myr 1x Phyrexian Revoker (3cc) 1x Viridan Corrupter 2x Blade Splicer 1x Fiend Hunter 1x Skaab Ruinator 1x Deceiver Exarch (4cc) 1x Woodland Slueth 1x Peace Strider (5cc) 1x Hollowhenge Scavenger 4x Acidic Slime (6cc) 1x Sunblast Angel 1x Sun Titan (7cc) 1x Elesh Norn, Grand Cenobite 8x Forest 7x Island 6x Plains 1x Glacial Fortress I am not crazy about this, but have yet to really testi it out. I have been looking at Solar Flare as well. I am currently looking at running 4x Snapcaster Mage, 1x Liliana of the Veil, 2x Jace, Memory Adept, 2x Phantasmal Image, 2x Sun Titan. I have 4x Gideon's and am toying with adding 1 or 2, if room permits. Of course there will be Unburial Rites, Think Twice, 4x Forbidden Alchemy, Day of Judgement, 4x Oblivion Ring, Timely Reinforcements, 1x Batterskull...to name a few. The 4 of's are definites. The card names that have no number by them is because I need to see what my balance of them should be. I'm addnig the Batterskull, because it seems to be in a lot of builds I see. But does anyone know why it's in there? I don't know much about the Wolf Run Green. What's the concept behind that? I know that Mono Red did really well in Indy (Top 2 decks). Also Humans seem to be popular. Let's discuss, and make each other better standard players. ~MM __________________ I am MeddlingMage...YOUR Motl Survivor 11 Champion, 2007 Captain N award winner, 2010 Marlboro award winner, and 2011 Champion Tournament Pick'em MOTL NCAA Bracket Challenge winner!CM Punk "OMG Kevin Nash WTF, thought he was dead, LOL" New keeper of the Logout button

Batterskull in Flare gives you a chance vs. Monored, where you would be a heavy underdog otherwise.__________________ The only thing necessary for evil to triumph, is for good men to do nothing.

Today's Top Decks ArticleMike may have all the trustworthiness and charm of a used car salesman but he at least does a halfway passable job of explaining wolf run green. Also, deck info. __________________ It is a known fact that more Americans watch the television than any other appliance.

I'd run Sylvok Replica before CorrupterEven though Corrupter has the added bonus of chaining.

Here is the Pod list I have been running. It had proven to be strong against most matchups. RDW and Tempered fall to an early Arc Trail and Blade Splicer. UW Control has been a hit or miss. I have found it better to just hold your cards and play the small jank that they won't counter. Against solar flare you have to just aggro fast and hope you can land a pod on the field early. 4 Birds of Paradise 2 Avacyn's Pilgrim
4 Viridian Emissary 1 Phantasmal Image 3 Blade Splicer 1 Fiend Hunter 1 Manic Vandal 2 Hero of Oxid Ridge 1 Hero of Bladehold 1 Phyreixan Metamorph 1 Tormentor Exarch 2 Acidic Slime 2 Inferno Titan 1 Sun Titan 1 Elesh Norn 4 Birthing Pod 3 Arc Trail 2 Oblivion Ring 1 Ancient Grudge 5 Forest 4 Copperline Gorge 4 Razorverge Thicket 3 Clifftop Retreat 3 Mountain 2 Plains 1 Island 1 Sunpetal Grove 5x Forest 4x Copperline Gorge 4x Razorverge Thicket 3x Clifftop Retreat 3x Mountain 2x Plains 1x Island 1x Sunpetal Grove // Sideboard: SB: 4 Autumn's Veil SB: 3 Ancient Grudge SB: 1 Peace Strider SB: 3 Thrun, the Last Troll SB: 2 Archon of Justice SB: 1 Urabrask the Hidden

I would not be running White Pod without at least 1 Archon in the main. It's your best tool against Flare, and is solid versus anyone else.

I agree. I was playing against a junk pod list the other night that ran 3 Archon main. It was a much bigger problem to deal with than slime in 5cc slot. __________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!I collect Granite Gargoyles. Send them my way.

In a graveyard-based meta like this one, colors aside, it's pretty much the better choice in every circumstance. In other news, it looks like aggro's sun is setting on the meta right now, as Solar Flare and Wolf Run seem to be carving out the new Tier 1. Barring some serious breakthroughs in tech, I'm not seeing G/W humans Getting There long enough to be truly tier 1. At least not until Dark Ascension, if they get more goodies to play with.

I'm currently playing GB Heartless pod and have been seriously considering splashing whtie for Archon of Justice over Slime in the 5cc slot and Elesh Norn as another 7.

C4W BL4D3 4 L1F3!In all seriousness, I do have a home brew u/w blade list that has been doing pretty well against the field. I would post the list if anyone is interested. __________________ MOTL Fantasy NBA 2010 Champion"Hello, 911? It’s Quagmire. Yeah, it’s caught in the window this time." - Glen Quagmire

Can you explain the logic of using Heartless Summoning in a pod deck? It seems like there's no synergy there. __________________ It is a known fact that more Americans watch the television than any other appliance.

The ability to cast an acidic slime on turn 3 seems really strong to me. Pod is all about CIP triggers, so adding heartless summoning just makes those triggers come into play much sooner. The -1/-1 seems irrelevant, other than the fact that if you case Viridian Emmissary it basically reads G: Search your library for a basic land and put it into play tapped.

Most list only runs 1-2 slime, which is probably not worth while to run HS just to speed it up. A 1/1 Slime that destroy a land is also unimpressive against a lot of decks, other than Solar Flare, which you would be lucky to resolve HS on turn 2 and Slime on turn 3. I know HS also makes everything else cheaper, but IMO, it is cute, and that's pretty much it. I would much rather use the 4 slots to make sure I have a better game against Solar Flare, than doing something unnecessary. $0.02 __________________ MOTL Fantasy NBA 2010 Champion"Hello, 911? I had never even heard of Heartless Summoning in Pod before this thread, but it seems bad. You're already cheating on costs with Pod and Birds and Emissary and Solemn, allowing you to get a 6-drop into play a turn or two sooner. I'd rather not lose the possibility of trading with an opposing Titan, just to get one a little faster than W.R.Ramp. I'll be playing Pod tonight at FNM, with a very odd different build that I threw together last night. I expect results to be at one extreme or the other - go nearly unbeatable or nearly without wins.

IMO Phantasmal Image is probably the best creature in T2 ATM.~MM __________________ I am MeddlingMage...YOUR Motl Survivor 11 Champion, 2007 Captain N award winner, 2010 Marlboro award winner, and 2011 Champion Tournament Pick'em MOTL NCAA Bracket Challenge winner!CM Punk "OMG Kevin Nash WTF, thought he was dead, LOL" New keeper of the Logout button

Here is my Solar Flare build ATMLands (21) 1x Glacial Fortress 4x Drowned Catacomb 4x Swamp 5x Island 5x Plains 2x Ghost Quarter Creatures (9) 2x Sun Titan 1x Grave Titan 4x Snapcaster Mage 2x Phantasmal Image Artifacts (1) 1x Batterskull Instants (17) 3x Doom Blade 2x Unburial Rites 2x Surgical Extraction 3x Mana Leak 3x Think Twice 4x Forbidden Alchemy Sorcery (5) 2x Day of Judgement 3x Timely Reinforcements Enchantments (4) 4x Oblivion Ring Planeswalker (3) 2x Jace, Memory Adept 1x Liliana of the Veil I'm not really sure if I need/want the Mana Leaks. I like the Jace in here, bc the way I look at it, it nets me 2 cards (1 in hand and 1 in grave for Snapcaster Mage). I lack Isolated Chapels and more Glacial Fortress, so I added 2x Ghost Quarter to try and "fix" my mana, but not sure if I should just replace them with a couple more basic lands for the time being. I kind of want to get 2x Gideon in here. I was thinking taking out the 3x Mana Leaks and adding them and another land. Any thoughts? ~MM __________________ I am MeddlingMage...YOUR Motl Survivor 11 Champion, 2007 Captain N award winner, 2010 Marlboro award winner, and 2011 Champion Tournament Pick'em MOTL NCAA Bracket Challenge winner!CM Punk "OMG Kevin Nash WTF, thought he was dead, LOL" New keeper of the Logout button

looking over the winning decks at GP Brisbane, not much interesting to see. 4 copies of wolf run green, which is nice to see a nearly mono-green deck kicking ass in tournaments. RDW is still alive and kicking with one, and it looks like G/W humans has become G/W Tokens using Mikaeus and Gavony Township. A coupla blue/black control, a little white/blue (without swords though, which is interesting). The most interesting decklist (to me) is the single copy of what looks to be an attempt at bringing back The Rock, by bridging it with the Liliana+Unburial Rites Solar Flare shell. Odd that the author chose green instead of blue, it's hard to beat the Phantasmal Image+Sun Titan combo. I hope it does well, I always liked The Rock.__________________ It is a known fact that more Americans watch the television than any other appliance.

Goldfishing and play testing my Solar Flare deck, I realize Grave Titan and Phantasmal Image work really good together. I also like my main deck 2x Surgical Extraction, especially when I have Jace, Memory Adept in play and mill 10 of their cards for free, then for 1 black I take out important pieces. Snapcaster makes running 2 copies of things very easy. I only have 2x Surgical Extraction 2x Day of Judgement in the main deck and it seems like I can cast multiple copies per game.I also am not sure what to do about Ghost Quarters. Sometimes I'd rather have the basic land I need, and dont want to trade 2 for 1 on my side. However, I assume they will be huge against Kessig Wolf Run. I may put these in sideboard though. Maybe 1 mb-3 sb or 1 mb-2 sb. Also, what other sideboard cards should I consider? Celestial Purge? Dissipate? ~MM __________________ I am MeddlingMage...YOUR Motl Survivor 11 Champion, 2007 Captain N award winner, 2010 Marlboro award winner, and 2011 Champion Tournament Pick'em MOTL NCAA Bracket Challenge winner!CM Punk "OMG Kevin Nash WTF, thought he was dead, LOL" New keeper of the Logout button

blue/black control wins the GP - boo. Would've liked more variety in standard than going from u/w control dominating to u/b control. Oh well, hopefully tokens or wolf run can get there.
