Which is just fine. They're well designed, and work well with any Shocklands that may be in Return to Ravnica.

i kinda wanted the man lands but hey, the above is quite true and fine with me. I'm glad they didnt make new inferior lands. __________________ Motl member since November 1, 2000Your 2008 and 2010 Motl Siskel & Ebert award winner! 34th in refs on Motl! That's not happening. The reason they rotated out the painlands is because players really dislike paying life for mana for their spells. The Shards of Alara lands that entered the battlefield were highly popular compared to Caves of Koilos being reprinted.

Expecting all 10 "M" lands and 10 "shock"-duals in the coming standard?

What the H? merfolk already have a ton of playable lords AND they're blue. I sure hope elves don't get another elvish archdruid, and we get a GG elf lord that's awesome.

In essence, yes. Their clues are as subtle as a hammer to the head. Farseek, Gem of Becoming, and Liliana 3.0 at the top. And in all likelihood they will stagger them among the 3 sets so it would only be a 4.5 month period with all 10 checklands and shocklands. They could do something else for M14 and it would all rotate in October 2014. They've already said Return to Ravnica is a gold block. People like casting their spells so the mana fixing has to be up to par to make it worth playing anything.

Elves is arguably a stronger legacy deck than merfolk. The new lord is simply dropping the curve a bit for legacy merfolk, which means you almost never need to go to 3 on vial. Gonna have to run some matches on cockatrice to see if the extra 2-drop makes a difference.

So this Trading Post looks kinda cool. 4 mana probably leaves it out of competetive magic, but it looks like 4 options... very different options for that matter, make it look like a lot of fun.

More supply, same amount of demand, unless it shows up in a tier 1 standard deck. __________________ MOTL Fantasy NBA 2010 ChampionThe 1832 edition of the American Frugal Housewife said that "nothing was better than earwax to prevent the painful effects resulting from a wound by a nail [or] skewer"; and also recommended earwax as a remedy for cracked lips.

Love this Don't Wake Daddy Dragon here. Seems kinda bad, but I like it anyway. Even if you can't attack with it you can still sac it to the Bolas dude for 3 cards and 3 life. Not bad for one red.

Unless Phyrexian Arena and Cabal Coffers are also reprinted, I doubt it.

Certainly a lot of plants for some sort of "swamps matters" deck in the RTR block, but I doubt it's going to be mono-color, and right now there are simply too many decks that don't care about a 4-mana conditional sweeper.

Yah, my first thought was "Awe.... my foil one is worth less now", then the light bulb went on and I considered the Korean option. Problem is, it'll be outside of my comfort zone for price.

The extra Islandwalk probably does make a significant difference to the deck's performance. Whether that's enough for the current metagame is another question entirely. I haven't played competitively in a few months, so I'll refrain from commenting on that score. __________________ "I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each. Salvation LOLhttp://forums.mtgsalvation.com/showthread.php?t=427572 The opener doesn't know that baddest isn't a word it's called worst and the number of people defending this card. For the record Gargoyle Castle > Hellion Crucible by a lot.

question - does the new merfolk lord make folk viable in modern? folk already have 4 lords in the format. 2cc does make it better then any ohters in cost but is islandwalk that much of a good thing in modern?
