So I'll be taking my little brother ( 15yo) and my cousin to play at the pre-release, they both want to play Boros.I guess I'll play Orzhov or Simic. I like Gruul, but I don't really like their theme this block. FULL SPOILER

I haven't looked at the cards that come with the guild packs, but so far I'm most fond of the dimir cards themes. Traditionally most of my decks tend to be Boros or Gruul.

If they are anything like the RTR pre-release, they are watermark-only cards for each faction. Re: Blind Obedience - extort itself is an overhyped mechanic for constructed. The card effect itself is very marginal for standard, and I'd sooner take removal or fog for dealing with something like hellrider or thundermaw. It's entirely possible that a mana bloom/sphere of safeety/martial law/blind obedience/??? deck comes about, but I don't see it handling RWU humans, or RB aggro.

No, I just haven't looked at what the watermark foil is yet. Here's the list including the buy-a-box and other promos http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/arcana/1138

Love how Legion Loyalist went from 0.99 to 3.99...Blind Obedience is continuously labeled out of stock, not sure SCG knows where it's price point is yet. and Rat lord if correct looks fun, you wrath, I'm left with tons of rats...yay!

It's second ability is pretty bonkers ... all your creatures unblockable and hexproof for a total investment of 4 mana. It's probably playable just for that, screwing Geist is just icing.

Orzhov Charm WB Instant Choose one - Return target creature you control and all Auras you control attached to it to their owner's hands; or destroy target creature and you lose life equal to that creature's toughness; or return target creature card with converted mana cost 1 or less from your graveyard to the battlefield.Merciless Eviction 4WB Sorcery Choose one - Exile all artifacts; or exile all creatures; or exile all enchantments; or exile all planeswalkers.

eviction is so low power. compare to Akromas Vengeance. now, if it was Merciless Command (AKA choose 2), i would freaking LOVE IT. __________________ "He fights you not because you have wronged him, but because you are there."[16:17] <@BrassMan> what do you need new tech for? +1 Akroma's Vengeance also has cycling, which is always nice. The one argument I can see for Eviction over Vengeance is the ability to choose what gets blown up, but I personally prefer a completely clean slate except for the 1, maybe 2, Pwalkers that would be in play.

Also compare to Final Judgement. Same CMC, but switches one mana symbol and let's you choose from the best of four options. Final Judgement isn't as good, but it is a very strong effect and it's still very popular - check the comments and rating on gatherer.

That's one argument. The other argument is "fringe in competitive constructed, $3 card". I'm becoming very happy that I didn't order any boxes for GTC. Here's to trolling the midnight madness sale for playsets of all the commons and uncommons I want from GTC!
