What a DAY!I forgot to make my lunch last night, so I scrambled around this morning to make it, having apparently not given myself enough time to get everything done anyways. I go out to the car, it's got snow and ice, mostly ice, all over it. Had to spend time I sure didn't have getting it off my car. I go to get my coffee (I am not going ANYWHERE without my coffee!), pull over in a parking lot to shake it up and all, and BOOM, it explodes all over me, and all over my car. All over the brandy new, WHITE sneakers Tom just bought me for work. I clean all THAT up and go back and get another coffee (luckily it's the same girl and she feels so bad for me she gives me another one for free), check out my GPS, which says I'm going to be about 15 mins late for work. AAARRGG! I managed to make up enough time speeding, that I was only 10 mins late. On the plus side, all that stuff happening and the rush and worry to get to work on time made it so that I really didn't think too much about the stupid bridge I had to cross. Until I got to the bridge. After all that rotten stuff happened, I nearly turned around and went home, certain it was an omen. But I didn't The bridge. It was HORRIBLE. Way too high and it sure didn't look that structurally sound.. I was terrified that someone in the opposite lane was going to mess up and come into my lane and hit me head on. My hands are still hurting from griping the steering wheel that hard. *Sigh* Thanks, Jazaray __________________ A Plastered Dragon Original Limerick: There was a nice lassie named Jaz Many wished to have what she has, A delicate face, A soft warm embrace, And a whole lot of bedroom pizzazz.WeedIan: Jazaray is like MOTL's Mom. Jaz, are you a religious person? Sorry if that's too personal of a question.

I'm sure it doesn't feel that way to you Jaz, but one way to look at that is a sort of serendipity forcing you to face your fear! And while I'm sorry to hear how hectic your morning was (seriously those are the worst), at least on the bright side that's really cool!

Nope, not at all I'm probably the exact opposite of a religious person. Thanks, Jazaray

But you conquered the whole day it sounds like. You crossed the bridge. You didn't turn around and say forget it. Good for you. Congrats!

I'll be attending a conference in Philadelphia in a couple months. Any suggestions on cheap accommodation?__________________ "I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each. Fairly odd last 5 days. Thursday - I'm told my hours will be cut back to 3 days a week. This is also the day my employer-sponsored health insurance kicked in. But now I'm not sure due to hours. Friday - I'm told I will probably be going to London for my job in April for a week. Friday night - game night with friends is cancelled. Saturday night - date is cancelled, no communication with the girl since then. Sunday - Drove halfway to houston to pick up new car for me - a 2002 mustang that was owned by my uncle. Sunday night - driving in the mustang to my brother's house, white smoke comes out of the hood (most likely a coolant leak) Monday - my uncle incorrectly faxes the car's paperwork (comes out a blank page) so I can't get it transferred/fixed yet. Monday - woke up below a weight loss goal. Today - Told barring a massive budget problem, I WILL be going to London in April. So personal improvement = win work life = draw social life = loss

Then there is no reason to be afraid of the bridge, because if it collapses and you die or whatever, then that was meant to be and there is nothing you could have done to prevent it. But if you don't believe in a higher power, that argument doesn't really hold any sway.

It's unlikely a bridge in the USA will collapse. That didn't happen in Brazil, it's probably not going to happen there.

Just check the underside. Made in China? Worry. Made in the US? No worry. See here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_bridge_failures Very few from the last 30 years.

I had a girl do this to me recently. Would meet up for the first time; sent her a message at 6 PM if she was ready (we would grab a bite together). Reply: "Yeah, hang on, just waiting for something". 45 mins later I was starving, so I asked what how things were going. No reply and probably blocked. I'm not bothered by it, I just don't understand why you would do things that way.

Great day!Wife wakes me up three hours early. And I have a sore throat. Wife proceeds to be far too helpful re sore throat. Then I oversleep by an hour. Rush to get to school for world's most confusing law class (corporate taxation). Class is cancelled. Bah. Then I get an email from a job where I'm the best candidate two years in a row: They won't interview me because I applied last year. OMGWTFBBQNASACAIRPLLP.

Don't you just love it when things make sense? *puts on Eddie Murphy white dude voice* "Well, you're by far our best candidate in a LONG time, but we can't take ya'. Seems you applied last year, so.." EDIT: I'd go back and make them feel so silly about this rule that they'd have to take you on.
