@Demilio, where can you see what the pre-registration numbers are?Would like to see, I know a dozen people from my area that are going including myself. After hearing a number like 6K people or even 3K people it's kind of got me wondering how many there really will be... and will this be the largest GP ever? .02, Jesse __________________ "call the hospital now" "I'm gonna kill you" inspiring words from Mino Fazio

You're only really getting it at MSRP if:1) You know the store/owner 2) The store/owner is nice/not grinding you out 3) You pre-ordered/paid many months ago before any spoilers. -Matt

Or if the shop owners is oblivious to 3rd party and second hand values. A lot of sports card shops that sell boosters only and no singles aren't aware of the hype. They buy product and sell product. There are plenty of shops like this.

WRONG. A local sports card shop, where I purchase my boxes from, told me that they were not getting any. I've known the owner for years...as I've been going to him since I was half my age. He always gives me the best deal he can on product. He told me even tho he sells TONS of sealed product, and even dabbles in singles he could not get a SINGLE box of MM without going through a 3rd party. So the price was exactly what he could get them for. He could buy some @200ish a box....he said he'd get them for me at his cost if I really wanted them. WOTC did not sell him any bc he does not hold sanctioned events for MTG....not even FNM drafts. So your theory is wrong. Sports cards shops WONT be selling at msrp...bc they wont be getting them at that price to begin with. From what I was told onlylonly lgs gets them....if the local sports cards store wanted them just to sell they too would have to use a 3rd party....and they all have raised the prices. So no....you can't do what you suggest....and grab packs at msrp from Daves Sports Cards or whatever...unless Dave does fnm....in which case he's not stupid and knows the value.

Does the local sports card store you get them from run ANY MTG sanctioned events? Bc while mine sells a lot of product, and a few singles here and there, they do not run any events. They've never ran events...and were told by WOTC that they could not buy directly from them.

They can still buy from distributors, though.

As I pointed out in a previous post...my guys distributor will sell him boxes at around $200 a pop. Which is why he doesn't wanna buy them to resell. He said he'd get them for me if I wanted...but I'm passing as well. If a sports cards store is getting them at msrp from a distributor there is no chance they are selling at msrp. They WILL want to make some money. My guy has just known me forever...which is why he said he'd get them for me at his cost if I really want.

How long do you plan on sitting on it? The longer you sit, the better the buy-in price looks.

Until every year when a new MM comes out. Make no doubt about it....if this does as well as expected (which it looks like) they will milk this cash cow every year.

I'm picking up at $200 a piece and holding for a couple of years. I guarantee profit if that's the plan.

Someone did an estimated value per pack estimate a while back on the thread; what are the numbers now?

It's certainly not $11 a pack, which it what the going rate is. Too many people are caught up in the hype and are going to be jacked when their mythic is a dragon.

I really doubt they're going to make this a yearly release :P I could see milestone releases to keep it fresh, but not yearly. It will turn into chronicles style reprints which they don't want to have happen.

Agreed. There's already some horrible stuff in there this year. What is it going to be next year...mutavault...thoughtseize...and the rest chaff

Or next year (or in 2 years) they push up through, say, mirrodin 2.0.

Unless you manage to crack a Goyf and a high dollar foil, I really don't see you profiting much at $250+ a box.The rares and even some of the mythics have a heaping helping of not much value. The commons are pretty much terrible. Most of them are niche cards that are there purely for the limited aspect of this set. Stuff that stands out to me are Lava Spike, Search for Tomorrow, Rift Bolt, and Spellstutter Sprite. I don't see anything else that typically went for above bulk, outside of fringe playbles like Petals of Insight. You have a handful of good uncommons, although most of the stuff that was bumped down from rare was already just a shade above bulk prices to begin with. Standouts in the uncommon slot are: Krosan Grip, Flickerwisp, Shrapnel Blast, Eternal Witness, Spell Snare, Desperate Ritual, Trygon Predator, Lightning Helix, Electrolyze, Mind Funeral, Manamorphose, Kitchen Finks, Paradise Mantle, and Path to Exile. Those are the only things I really see that typically have been going for more than $1. With only 24 packs per box, chances are you might see only 1-2 of each of those per box. __________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!I collect Granite Gargoyles. Send them my way.

I see Modern Masters being Bi-Yearly, and going up a block or two each time, giving us stuff last one didn't plus stuff last one couldn't.This of course would be just fine, and sell extremely well. __________________ I shall have the souls of all who defy me. "Lord Crovax"

If I could get a box for $225, should I?
