I certainly wouldn't open it if you're paying that much.

Local store is also doing $25 dollar drafts of MM with DGM as prize support and $35 dollar drafts with MM prize support.$225 is the cheapest I've seen around here, though. __________________ -Schmitty T-80th in Refs [298] on MOTL (with weitz and Avatar of Might) 2nd in Refs [298] in OH-IO (656 behind souladvocate) 2nd in Posts [8065] in OH-IO (only 20 behind Val!) “If Brad Stevens is the future of coaching in college basketball, the sport is in a good place.” - Rick Pitino

They WILL want to make some money. My guy has just known me forever...which is why he said he'd get them for me at his cost if I really want.

Spoken to quite a few stores and they are telling me they are getting boxes for about $110 a pop. The cheapest I have seen stores selling for is $175. I could buy as many boxes as I want for about $230 a box. Not a good deal but if anyone really needs boxes or they want boxes in bulk I can get them for anyone interested. -Cheers-

Is buying a box @210-220 before tax really worth it though? If I were to open to box, is there anyway I would regain the money that I paid for or would I just be better off buying singles of MM? I also know some people @ my LGS who pre-ordered right when Modern Master was announced and they're only paying 150-160 per box as the store is honoring there initial price.

Unless you are paying less than market value for your boxes, you are better off buying singles than cracking boxes for every box ever in the history of Magic.jvs

Thanks, I thought maybe Modern Master might be the exception, apparently not.

No thx....I'll save my money. It's really not worth my time. $210 a box....even after initial hype wears off and packs dry up...then what? I sit on boxes for 6 months and after shipping I make $25 on each? Not worth my time....and it's a space problem. I don't have the space as is.....why do you think every few months I drop off thousands of commons to you for free? Well.... 1. Your my friend 2.I hate clutter......

While it's likely not worth it to crack & sell, it actually is worth it to crack if your alternative is to buy the singles from a retailer. Check out this guy's work here - he puts the SCG retail value of a box around $360-$400 even AFTER scaling prices back due to the increased supply. He puts the eBay value around $250-$270. I believe this also *ignores* the value of common and uncommon foils, but includes the value of any Rare foils you would expect to get in an average box. So, if you're starting a modern collection from scratch and you aim to get playsets of key playable cards, then buying a box or two of MM and cracking might not be such a bad idea.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=51qjIWe7sf4

SCG retail value means squat if you aren't SCG. I'm not going to give the guy a free click, but does he factor in ebay/paypal taking 20% and taxes taking another 15%?

Why not set up an LLC or something, since internet sales tax isn't a thing yet?

We have an old fashion shop owner that gave all preorders at 150/box. Here are my rares. Angel's Grace Arcbound Ravager Auriok Salvagers Blood Moon Chalice of the Void Cold-Eyed Selkie Countryside Crusher Cryptic Command Dark Confidant Demigod of Revenge Doubling Season Dragonstorm Earwig Squad Glen Elendra Archmage Knight of the Reliquary Life from the Loam Progenitus Pyromancer's Swath Reveillark Rude Awakening Slaughter Pact Summoner's Pact Sword of Fire and Ice Vedalken Shackles Verdeloth the Ancient Foil Pact of Negation Uncommons- 2 Eternal Witness 1 Kitchen Finks 2 Lightning Helix 1 Manamorphose 1 Path to Exile 2 Spell Snare 1 Tidehollow Sculler 1 Foil Tidehollow ScullerNot bad at all for any price and GREAT for such a cheap price. Wish I was able to get more than 1 box. Anyone else noticing the increase in demand for non-MM modern cards? I thought the influx of new cards would drop values but I am not so sure. It's almost like everyone who pulled a Goyf/Clique/Bob said "Great now I need 3 more".

And behold, the biggest reason why MM was created. MM is an appetizer.

Probably. Just don't get tempted and open it, cause you won't open $230 in stuff. Sell it in 2 years for $330. I guess it's worth it if you aren't into the market.

After opening my crappy first box I don't think I will lose to temptation on the 2nd one.

We sold them in the store for $154.99 ahead of time and the week of release for $179.99 cash cc was $4 more. we sold 26 box's that way and was happy.I got a few more coming in next week and but now my wholesaler raised there price so I am going to charge $199.99 next week on those ones. Still a lot lower than Ebay etc. We try to help our players with good prices since they support us on their singles. Since I am part owner now it helps! Well do a draft with one on the box's and sell the others at $9.99 per pack.

This set reminds me a lot of Worldwake with people running the Jace lottery... except now it's the Goyf lottery lol.I sold my 3 boxes at a profit (made $85/box), didn't open them.
