I really hope trinket mage isn't the best non-planeswalker card in scars....

Um, Elspeth Tirel is really looking hot...(the card, not the artwork). Wouldn't mind picking her up... ~Revenger __________________ Need a 3rd party trade? Contact me at this email address.Your 2008 Motl Siskel &/or Ebert award winner!

Hence the "non-planeswalker" qualifier. __________________ There's no need to fear, UNDERDOG is here! All your Gruul Nodorogs are belong to me. Trade them to me, please! Report rules violations. Remember the Auctions Board!

You know that trinket mage kind of sucks. Here is what you can get http://gatherer.wizards.com/Pages/Search/Default.aspx?action=advanced&type=+[%22Artifact%22]&cmc=+=[1]|=[0]&format=+[%22Standard%22] ooo basilisk collar! The best card you could possibly get is maybe everflowing chalice or brittle effigy. Those are the "Best". Voltaic Key could be a sleeper, but so far it isn't a bomb.

What are you talking about? There are plenty of decent stuff to tutor for with trinket mage. Chimeric Mass to beat your opponent down. Memnite to trigger the Vengevines. New Spellbomb to chump and draw extra card. __________________ 40 Eye of Ugin and 4 foil Eye of Ugin for Black Lotus!?"lol you'll see when these go for 50 bucks a piece in a couple months, you're just jealous. !" - Marciano 315 03/17/2010

-You can get real creatures that have the same mana cost as p/t, and lots of them have abilities. In addition they have creatures that have a p/t greater than the mana cost. -Trinket mage and the 1/1 is an okay play to get vengevine back and it's in color for most vengevine decks. It may be the only reasonable play out of trinket mage. -So you are going to play a card to get another card to play and activate to draw a card. Seems like a lot of effort just to draw a card. You can get the same effect with wall of omens. You could run the 1/1 spellbomb in UW control and no one would say anything, but Trinket Mage has no business being in that deck. Extended looks slightly better with Pithing Needle, Executioner's capsule, and relic of progenitus But you know what if a myr deck dominates the format because of trinket mage I'll say grats to you. My prediction is better than Eye of Ugin.

Hey now, let's not go saying things we might regret later . What was it that guy said about Eye, 40 and 4 foils for a Lotus? lmao. Obviously in this format Trinket Mage will be good but I'm not convinced he will be as good as he was in Mirrodin. After all, he doesn't have a broken-as-hell card like Skullclamp to fetch up...yet. Basilisk Collar is pretty hot. Maybe a UR build with sparkmages, TMs and Collars. But I'm not really a Standard guy so that could totally suck /shrug. As for daner's post #300 in the previous thread: quote: Man...I hope not in EDH. Both of those guys are mana intensive enough let alone adding a double B cc spell into your deck. Who would be your general?
I run a 5 color Reaper King artifact oriented deck with quite a few double mana symbol costs and I never have any problems casting them. 10 duals, 10 shocks, fetches, green forest fetch spells and a krosan verge are an excellent place to start in terms of mana base. You could even argue adding crucible would be valuable just for the ability to re-fetch and fix even more effectively. Not to mention that since you are playing 5 colors Bringers and Fist of Suns can make life so much easier. As for the general, Karona would be pretty fun . I already have a 5 color deck but if I were to build another that would be my first choice. Horde of Notions would be the runner up but Karona creates waaaay more chaos!

Trinket Mage will get you Removal, Mana, a Dude (large or small) or a nice piece of equipment, in standard, And thats without knowing what the rest of the spell bombs do, for 3 on a 2/2 body. Sounds like a pretty good tutor to me.

I guess a beatstick that is searchable, anti sorcery speed removals, versatile in CC, and can attack your opponent on the same turn you play DoJ is not good enough for you.__________________ 40 Eye of Ugin and 4 foil Eye of Ugin for Black Lotus!?"lol you'll see when these go for 50 bucks a piece in a couple months, you're just jealous. !" - Marciano 315 03/17/2010

A new Powder Keg is pretty high on the charts I would say. Sadly, this is another guaranteed $8 of loss since I already own four Kegs (and their price should drop from about 4ish).

yea, new keg is strictly better than old keg. Oh well not much of a loss, old keg wasnt worth anything anyway. but anyway, Powder Keg back in Standard!!??? wow things are about to get interesting. I may have to pick up a deck and play some good old type two.

Is drafting poison the way to go?I know it's early, but so far it seems like poison is a draft deck and myr dudes is a draft deck. Other thoughts?

anyone like Venser's journal? i think it might be good addition to a type 2 acc. mill deck? bit expensive but when holding a lot of cards from draw it might be a good staller?
