Be the change you wish to see in the world.A better site, a better community, and better communication begins with ME. So, let's put out some positive thoughts, helpful and constructive arguments without ad hominem attacks and keep the discussion related to Magic as much as possible. Last FNM, I decided to pilot a new deck after facing round after round after round of hate for the Human Reanimator deck I had brought the previous weeks. The very first game of the first match against a guy I've played with many times and who sat down and immediately said, "why do I have to play against someone GOOD round one?", I get a nut hand that went something like this: John: Overgrown Tomb tapped, go. yakusoku: Stomping Ground, pay 2 life, Experiment One John: Overgrown Tomb tapped, go. yakusoku: Woodland Cemetery, Burning Tree Emissary, put a +1/+1 counter on Experiment One. Cast a second Burning Tree Emissary. Cast a THIRD Burning Tree Emissary. Cast Flinthoof Boar (3/3 because of Stomping Ground), put another counter on Experiment One, attack for 3. I have a 3/3, 2/2, 2/2, 2/2, and a 3/3 on the battlefield with two lands to his two Overgrown Tombs, while he's at 17. He draws his next card and we go to game 2. I went 3-0-1 last Friday, mostly with good, but not insane draws, but that was a good way to start things off.

You have a better chance of brokering a deal to turn North korea and South Korea into one peacful nation than for that to happen here.

Can someone please make a griselbrand deck for me in modern or to a link? I have been trying tirelessly for the last week or so and I can't see to get the stupid thing to not suck. I know there's a deck discussion section but no one visits that

modern reanimator got a bit weaker without seething song to push Through the Breach on turn 3. if your play group is incredibly aggressive or plays enough disruption, it's not gonna cut it. This was the only version I know about before Seething Song got the axe http://www.starcitygames.com/article/24524_Modern-Reanimator.html

4x Goryo's Vengeance 4x Through the Breach 3x Manamorphose 4x Deperate Ritual 2x Lightning Axe 4x Spoils of the Vault 2x Emrakul, the Aeons Torn 4x Griselbrand 3x Desperate Ritual 3x Faithless Looting 2x Simian Spirit Guide 4x Fury of the Horde 21 Lands, mostly just basic mountains, but a few blackcleave cliffs and dragonskull summits for black fixing. Pretty consistent in terms of turn 3 or turn 4 kills game 1, though obviously weak to path to exile or countermagic game 1. Sideboard is a mish-mash of slaughter games, blood moon, discard, and leyline of sanctity.

I know that banning Seething Song was bad for decks like this, but this version solved the problem neatly... quote:
4x Deperate Ritual 3x Desperate Ritual
I would change the extra 3 Rituals to the last two Simian Spirit Guides and the fourth Looting or if your meta is full of creature decks, then a third Lightning Axe instead of the last Lootings. Lightning Storm is also (arguably) playable as an additional Fury of the Horde, but it needs the full set of Simians to work. (Attack once with Griselbrand, draw 21 cards play Storm, pitching 5 lands for lethal... And hope your opponent has less extra lands left in hand than you do.)

I had a similar list at first, but emrakul never ended the game so I had to cut him. The biggest problem is that if you don't get a griselbrand, you basically lost. And you would randomly die to spoils when you are at 20 which is super annoying

Who is playing the PTQ in Greensboro NC this weekend?I will be there, piloting a Merfolk deck. It'll be my first big tournament, and first Modern event (only been playing modern for 10 days). Wondering what i side in against the main decks, Jund, RUW mid/Control, Kiki-pod/Melira-Pod. Any advice or pointers? Edit: Playing white. Have in side such things as Piting Needle, Rest in Peace, Stony Silence, Grafdiggers Cage, Torpor Orb, Surgical Extraction.

My advice would be don't play Merfolk in modern. Borrow a tier 1 deck from someone if you want to win matches. If you're there for the experience and winning doesn't matter, go for folk.
