If you want to do something useful and productive about this guy, file for mail fraud. It's been nearly ten years, and as far as I can tell a whopping two people (myself included) have bothered. It's really not that hard. If even 10% of everyone he's ripped here (hell, if just those posting here) took the time to do it, the RCMP might care enough to knock on his door. The longer you do nothing, the longer nothing will be done. __________________ "I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each. I do not think they will sing to me." -T.S. Or, if the stuff is relevant, post it here for the community? ~MM __________________ Blah, blah, blah werewolf. Smackity-smack not a werewolf. Suspicious of this fruit loop. My vote this round will be for Player X.New keeper of the Logout button

It's interesting to see the claims being made, including adding an address 5 hours away from Ottawa in the confirmed rippers thread. One person even mentioned something from Texas. Do explain how this account "LT" has no address beneath it; was it added based on a "trend" and the motions made by a Canadian... but you didn't acquire an address or name? Let me point a few things out to you. The method used to exploit an expired e-mail address and MOTL account is well-known. There's 35m people in Canada, and a just because a person is in a neighbouring province doesn't mean anything (especially if there is a considerable distance between addresses). It's nonsensical to assume a person exploiting MOTL like this was John, and yes, I'll tell you why that is. Because it might not be John, and in fact, it might be someone else. If you assume it's John and immediately come posting here without collecting information, you've done a disservice to the community. People should pretend to following through with the trade and collecting information. Since you've decided to cut communication short, you've given the person on the other end an opportunity to continue drudging up accounts. They can proceed more cautiously and potentially rip people off. Why? Because the bright individual(s) that observed an old MOTL account and noticed he/she was from Canada just assumed it was John... and didn't bother to confirm this with a name and address. Funny how there is an unresolved thread in the ripper alert forum, claiming it was or might be John, but has no name or address in the transcript. Let me remind you again, the method used to scam is well-known. There are plenty of people willing to exploit and rip people off, and you needed look any further than the ripper/accusation forums to know that. So John must be this guy 5 hours away in Quebec? I'm not sure what mental acrobatics took place for a moderator to post this name and address in the thread. I will point out that while the name and address is in a hot thread, you've always removed the name out of immediate sight in the confirmed rippers thread. You have also muddled up the evidence against John with poorly collected "evidence", if that's what you want to call it. I can tell you right now - these recent accusations are not John, but poorly founded conclusions. If somebody used a well-known method and is from Canada, it means you have a Canadian ripping/attempting to rip people off. It might be John, but unless you have information like a name and address, you simply don't know that. It's a mistake to assume some random guy from Quebec, some 5 hours away, is John. You can take from that as you will. But you are directing the blame on John, and leaving room for active rippers to manoeuvre.

Somewhat ironic that you live near him and have an open ripper case against you.

Why bother to tell us all this, and not go any further? Is his actual address the same as any of the ones he's been using here?

I'm new here - I have zero references. This guy reached out to me for one of my Verdants. His current name is kamikazewatermelon and his fake name is Sebastian Leclerc. Hope you all are careful. It's frustrating to think I almost sent the cards out. quote: Originally posted by Pail42: Is his actual address the same as any of the ones he's been using here?

He is now selling Beta Booster Boxes on Ebay and sending out pictures to stores. I think that they are all fake and that he is scamming people on ebay. If you go to ebay and go to advanced search/completed listings you can see that he has sold a beta booster box 8 times in the last 2 months all under different accounts but using the same pictures. These are the same pictures that he sent in the mail to me. I just called him on the number that he gave me in his letter and he answered and confirmed that he is the one who is selling all of those boxes and told me that all of the things online about him are just rumors. I don't believe that he has any beta booster boxes and I think that he is just scamming people/ebay out of thousands of dollars. The name he gave me was John Austin Strickland Brown. It looks like he has found a way to sell from at least 8 different ebay accounts all in different cities. BEWARE!

Pretty sure I just got scammed out of $55 by him (Paypal email account: thrinc2014@gmail.com), using the MOTL name "tarheelresellers".Unfortunately, I sent the payment with the gift option. Was wondering if anyone had dealt with Paypal regarding this individual and successfully got a refund? Thank you

That scumbag is Mike Chen from Florida. John Strickland is the scumbag from Canada. Not above Chen to use Strickland's or anybody else's name. Usually uses Daniel Chang's. He has also used Dr. Brown before. He scams uninformed greedy sellers into listing the boxes for him.

I have bought three times from this seller. I had him ship first all three times and had no problems.

To all of those who have done gift payment, do this (just in case you are sure that you have been frauded)Go to your bank and cancel the paypal transaction. They will ask for a reason, say that its a fraud problem. They will refund you the money and all ok. problem: paypal will ask you why the refund. You can explain to them all whats going on or whatever. use carefully, but in case of cheating you, use it.

This only works if you have the money withdrawn from your bank account, and not if you used funds in your paypal account. If you send a paypal gift payment with a credit card, you can call the CC company and dispute charges as well.

For what it's worth, I bought about 30-40 in cards from tarheelresellers last month (paid first) and got the cards in 3 days.

Yeah, it's fantastic that he's building up a rep with these little deals. In a couple weeks/month he'll start nailing people for big deals. Why anyone would trade with anybody named John Strickland on any site is beyond belief. Anybody deserves what they get when this guy starts ripping you off again.
