I'm going infinite in Standard! For the last four weeks, I've gone 3-1, 3-1, 2-1-1, and 3-1. 3-1 = double your entry fee in store credit. 2-1-1 = your entry fee in store credit. Also, my LGS allows you to pre-register for the tournament and as an incentive to pre-register they've been giving one free pack to someone who drafts and one free pack to someone who plays Standard. I've managed to win THREE packs so far. I haven't opened them yet, but I'm not sure what I really want from NPH that's worth cracking them immediately.

Nicely done, I thought the same thing with Legacy here. First time, I got 3 FoWs, then entry in store credit, so I'm probably going to play a bit more

Must be nice to have good attendance or super nice store owner. Jace TMS destroyed our FNM attendance

My LGS = the Channel Fireball brick and mortar store (Superstars). We had over 100 people one night, but most nights there's somewhere between 50 and 75 people. Every pre-release, LSV is there for gunslinging (you compete against the pros and if you win you get a free pack of the new set) and every week I see Josh Silvestri there. I've been running UWb Caw-Blade, losing only to green decks with Vengevine, once in the mirror (he drew 2x as many Stoneforge Mystics), and once to the Exarch-Twin combo deck since I had not tested against it at all and foolishly didn't play around him playing Exarch, tapping a land and preventing me from playing Celestial Purge on Splinter Twin. I like the black splash for discard (twin combo pieces, equipment in the mirror), Go For The Throat (destroy turn two Stoneforge Mystic when players get Batterskull and last night I won a game when I destroyed Valakut's turn two Overgrown Battlement), and most of all for Creeping Tar Pit which has won me so many games that Celestial Colonnade would not have (cheaper to activate, I can equip with a sword for five mana total, and it can't be blocked by Squadron Hawks). Josh Silvestri totally disagrees with me, though, and insists that the U/W version is completely better, primarily because the U/W version has access to Tectonic Edge and U/W/b does not. I'm pretty sure the black splash totally earned me my second win against Valakut, whereas I think that Tectonic Edge would not have been as great. I played turn two Kor Firewalker, played Go For The Throat on his Overgrown Battlement, played a Mirran Crusader and a second Kor Firewalker and sat back on Mana Leak x2 + a second Go For The Throat that eventually killed a hard-cast Primeval Titan (didn't Mana Leak it because he didn't have enough to trigger Valakut and he was also playing with Summoning Trap, which could theoretically flash in a worse creature than a 6/6 green guy who dies to GFTT.) All my creatures + Creeping Tar Pit dealt lethal to him. I suppose that Into the Roil would also handle most of the threats that GFTT would and has greater versatility (can also bounce Jace/equipment), so I'll do some testing with the U/W version to see if Flores and Silvestri are right and I'm wrong.

Damnit. I've been trying to find a few cards which seem to be the cheapest at SCG, for old bulk commons in NM shape, so I'm happy to find a nice deal and pile up about 50 cards, and then...BOOM $60 shipping with the cheapest option. What? That can't be what they actually pay for it... Guess I'll need a third party :/

Actually I double-checked, a little bit less, but still. I'm not gonna pay 50% more than the initial price for shipping. They gotta tell me how they fish their prices, since others do $3 for up to 100 cards or so.

But still, that's probably not what it costs. With registered mail I guess it'd be $25.

Rares/Mythics come on the same sheet, so depending where your box starts/ends, and how the rares/mythics are distributed on the sheet, 5 happens. I've heard of some having as few as 3, most have 4, rare boxes have 5, even 6 (though these are normally because of a foil). __________________ "He fights you not because you have wronged him, but because you are there."[16:17] <@BrassMan> what do you need new tech for? Game Day wasn't a bad deal. The store we went to which used to get a good 20 or 30 people each Game Day only had 10 show, so we all agreed that we would give out the foil promos to all 10, and the top Mirran and Phyrexian allied deck would each get the last 2 foil promos, instead of 2 people getting no foils, and the top 2 on each side getting an extra one.Round 1, I got blown out by a Caw-Blade deck. Round 2 I swept a kid who'd only been playing for a week with a Splicer deck. Round 3 I edged out Nderwife in 3 games thanks to some lucky draws. Final round was another Caw-Blade beatdown, so I finished 2-2, as did Nderwife. I was a bit surprised that I apparently came in 4th, and won 4 packs in addition to having the top Mirran deck, and Nderwife came in 5th. Had I remembered to schedule the event locally, we'd have ended up with 4 Myr Superion most likely, and it would have been free. Instead we paid $20 total, and ended up with 3 Myr Superion instead. Oh, and a Batterskull, Phyrexian Obliterator and Puresteel Paladin. Thanks, prize packs! __________________ There's no need to fear, UNDERDOG is here! All your Gruul Nodorogs are belong to me. Made Top 4 at Game Day with B/R Vamps, getting ready for a SCG Invitational qualifier tomorrow. Just worried that my deck will have an even bigger bullseye on it's head since tonight it won it's second SCG Open in a row.__________________ The only thing necessary for evil to triumph, is for good men to do nothing.

My Game Day was scheduled, and no one ****ing showed up Sal said he's not going to host any more Magic events because people are going up to Morgantown to play where there's a larger crowd. I've got a backup plan to keep Magic in Fairmont, but I don't want it to come to that. If he's still serious about it next week, then I have to tell him that I'll be moving on to my backup plan, and that I won't be attending the shop at all anymore. It's not a competition thing, but he will see it that way.Anyway, after that debacle, I went to New Martinsville-- about 1.5 hours away-- to play in their Game Day since I know the judge very well. I bought a Green Lantern Corps deck box and an Onslaught (the comic character) playmat. I played a techy version of Valakut and went 3-1. I could have gone 4-0, but got fairly unlucky game 3 round 1. Oh well. I got three NPH boosters plus the Liliana DotP deck, made some trades, and opened a SoW&P. Pretty sweet haul for $5. __________________ *MafiaBass*Joshweek*Letter Bombs!*Logout Mottle Salvation- a new place to play Mafia and WW

Meh, game day seemed like a terrible idea. Standard is fairly boring, but when something decent is on the line I sometimes make an effort. The big issue was, the promos are total crap. I could acetone the foil... or just save the gas money and stay home. Yep...
