I think I have officially given up EDH in my meta. It's so ridiculously degenerate, it's all three for ones and other junk. Just not fun anymore.

That is what happened here. The normal players got mad at the degenerative players for ruining out fun time. And the degenerative players got mad at the normal players for not trying hard enough.

Why the sudden increase in guru land prices? Not that I'm complaining, but I remember buying islands at $65 and being annoyed that it was high.

You need to play with people who know they are degenerate things but they don't always play them. My monogreen deck is very degenerate but i use it to do fun things i don't always just wreck the game for everyone. __________________ Member Since 03/28/2001 11000+ posts 1st in posts in Ontario 13th in posts on MOTL Top 5 in Refs in Ontario (by people who location posted)

I used to have playsets of Japanese foil Polluted Deltas and Flooded Strands. Until 2005. Oops.

Made my first go back in to legacy in over two years. Ended up 3-1 for 3 prize packs of DA. First two were junk rares but the 3rd had a foil Sorin. __________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!I collect Granite Gargoyles. Send them my way.

What did you play? A nice pull indeed, i have a hard time not getting store credit since when i open packs i always get poop rares. You know Mythics? I've opened 3 of that white mythic that is so terrible its not even playable in EDH. 1 Foil 2 non foils.

I played UW-blade. It was an unknown meta for me and I had some experience with the style of deck from standard, so it felt like the right call. Lost to SneakyShow and beat UWR Delver, Hive Mind, and Goblins. Also, the store just does packs. I could have just gotten a draft set, but I rarely ever have time for FNM anymore. __________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!I collect Granite Gargoyles. Send them my way.

Best way to get an even mix of arts/languages/sets on foreign lands? Like a particularly nicely stocked store?

Must've been a terrible goblins player. Congrats on the finish!

Having turn 2 Stoneforge into Batterskull each game helped immensely. He got me game 2 when I drew zero removal and he had grip for Batterskull. I'm not sure what the best board plan against the deck is really. I brought in 2x Wrath and 2x Path from the board (Jitte is main already). I might pack a Sword of Fire and Ice in the SB next time I go, since the meta seemed to have a fair amount of Golbins and URx Delver. __________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!I collect Granite Gargoyles. apparently. That is a ton of great rares and spread across all kinds of colors. Having the ability to ignore a bomb rare in favor of a good deck seems necessary when opening a pool like that. I opened a liliana yesterday and decided to not play it in favor of a better deck. My black just didn't have much in the way of solid creatures so I ditched it.

Split the launch event for a box and a half. Deck was bonkers with huntmaster of the fells, charmbreaker devils, balefire dragon and increasing devotion. Also gamebreaking cards in break the day and brimstone volley. Highlights of the day was, 1 casting and flashing back increasing devotion, casting devotion and casting break the day for exactly lethal when next turn i'd die. casting increasing devotion and scourge of geist reach the same turn to flip my huntmaster .... Huntmaster.. is bonkers.

The busted rares are: Bloodline keeper. Daybreak ranger. Huntmaster of the fells The okay rares are: champion of the parish geist of saint traft kessig cagebreakers sorin lord of innistrad huntmaster of the fells increasing savagery fiend of shadows I think I would be black/green splash red, not playing the sorin/champion/geist.
You'd have: huntmaster of the fells bloodline keeper increasing savagery (And to be honest, while this card is good, it's not busted since there is multiple removals spells (that are common) that can deal with this. kessig cagebreaker fiend of shadow daybreak ranger for rares (assuming you have good support cards in green/black as well) Also having cards like traveler's amulet, evolving wilds and even shimmering grotto is essential when splashing..

At least you don't need to work on your pack-cracking skills.

Heh. Not too terribly different from my 3-1 deck. Mayor of Avabruck, Liliana, Huntmaster of the Fells, Elder of Laurels, Wolfbitten Captive and Increasing Savagery all made the deck, Increasing Devotion, Dungeon Geist and Sulfur Falls did not. Sadly, today's pool for the GP Seattle Trial wasn't nearly as bombtastic, but it was definitely good enough to win the event if it's pilot didn't punt the semifinals match. Too many play mistakes to overcome, unfortunately. On the plus side, I can no longer say that I've never won a round after a cut. __________________ There's no need to fear, UNDERDOG is here! All your Gruul Nodorogs are belong to me. High five! I never did that either until last year at an Extended (anyone remembered that?) last year.

Later on in the tournament I showed my pool to one of the better players and he said basically the same thing; I should have been black/green splash red or white. I had no grotto, no evolving wild, no amulet, not even a ghost quarter, mulch, or caravan vigil (only 8 green cards including a predator ooze) so I was a little unhappy with the situation. I ended up Black White, and my pool was not aggressive enough to abuse sorin. I failed miserably.
