Umm....Zoo is still real strong, Storm Past in Flames I hear has been doing good to...Jund to some extent seems decent... If you have some time, I'd go storm, otherwise aggro is easier to pick up... __________________ I shall have the souls of all who defy me. "Lord Crovax"

The original one was awesome, as long as you picked it up for sub-$13. I got Jace + Foil Baneslayer in one in the packs, plus you were guaranteed a couple sellable commons in the semi-randomized packs, like lightning bolt + duress. Bought a ton of them at nats for $10 this year.

Please don't make fun of me too much for this...I build Josh Utter-Leyton's Tempered Steel deck from GP Orlando for tonight's FNM, and my friend piloted it. He won, going 4-0 and only dropping one game. There was one problem, though: he had no idea how to sideboard. That's true because I have no idea how the sideboard works. I can kind of guess what each card is for, but what do I take out of the main deck to get those cards in? For reference, here's the list:
quote: Josh Utter-Leyton's Tempered Steel from GP Orlando: MaindeckCreature [20] 4 Memnite 4 Etched Champion 4 Vault Skirge 4 Signal Pest 4 Glint Hawk Instant [4] 4 Dispatch Enchantment [4] 4 Tempered Steel Artifact [12] 4 Origin Spellbomb 4 Glint Hawk Idol 4 Mox Opal Land [20] 9 Plains 3 Gavony Township 4 Razorverge Thicket 4 Inkmoth Nexus 60 Cards total Sideboard 4 Shrine of Loyal Legions 3 Spellskite 4 Hero of Bladehold 2 Oblivion Ring 2 Mental Misstep 15 Cards total
I assume Shrine is for control, Spellskite is for targeted removal, Mental Misstep is for Gut Shot and Delver, O-Ring is for stuff I can't handle (planeswalkers). What are the heroes for? And, again, what do I take out to get these cards in? Thanks, sorry I'm such a noob. __________________ *My LJ*Letter Bombs!*Facebook*Logout- I had it second!*CKGB

The Hero's are for when you play against Red.4 toughness is harder for decks to kill (survives Slagstorm, Incinerate, etc.) and Red decks can board in Ancient Grudge (which the Hero conveniently dodges). I don't play the deck, so I'm just guessing. Hope it helps.

just played 2 8-4's of innistrad on mtgo and i drafted what i thought were decent decks. first draft i lost to a guy who had 4 delver of secrets. turns out with those guys and that machete thing that gives humans lifelink beats methe next draft was at least fair, if a drew a land. i swear modo know people that have money, i would hate draft 8 - 4 all night if my drunk butt didn't have to go to the ****er

Just played a PTQ last weekend at Guardian. If you think you're pulling in some of that same crowd then prepare for affinity. In 7 rounds I played against 4 affinity, 2 teachings, and 1 melira pod. I piloted u/b control to 5-1-1, but I play control like a champ. If you're not into only casting things on your opponents turn, then I'd say make bant if you have the cards. It can randomly kill people and preps well for affinity. Random list we based my buddy's list off of (he went 5-2): http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Digital/MagicOnlineTourn.aspx?x=mtg/digital/mag iconline/tourn/3253642 2 Breeding Pool 2 Forest 1 Hallowed Fountain 1 Island 4 Misty Rainforest 2 Plains 3 Stirring Wildwood 3 Temple Garden 1 Treetop Village 4 Verdant Catacombs 23 lands 2 Birds of Paradise 4 Geist of Saint Traft 4 Mirran Crusader 4 Noble Hierarch 4 Qasali Pridemage 3 Tarmogoyf 21 creatures 4 Elspeth, Knight-Errant 2 Mana Leak 4 Path to Exile 2 Spell Pierce 2 Sword of Feast and Famine 2 Sword of War and Peace 16 other spells Sideboard 2 Day of Judgment 4 Leyline of Sanctity 1 Negate 3 Rule of Law 2 Thrun, the Last Troll 3 Wilt-Leaf Liege we dropped the sword count down in favor of some spectral flights. Its cheaper and provides better evasion... although it does have some inherent downsides, but thats what you get for shaving 3 mana off a card. Deck also seems reallllly weak to mono white martyr/proc without the war and peace, maybe even with the war and peace.
If you decide to run something with black, pack darkblast x2-3 main plus the rest of the playset in the board. the u/b list I ran is on the same page (I manged the SB when I played it). I "lost" to project X, but timed out before taking the loss (I took the draw since it was last round... I'm a bad person I think) because I didn't keep the spellbombs in the board (also I think they should have been surgical extraction instead/in addition). My other loss was to affinity when I didn't know how to play the match up. A hand of mana leak x2, snapcaster, 4x land is TERRIBLE vs affinity while on the draw. The leaks shouldn't have even been in the deck, but my board didn't have enough stuff for me to bring in.

Kid's coming in 2 1/2 months. I won't have time to organize a Legacy tournament every monday like I usually do. I'll prolly trade away my IRL cards for mtgo ones. Anybody have crap rares or good unc/coms to throw at me on mtgo? I wanna start legacy there and I know it's a harsh market to start :/Edit: I could benefit from a bot to help me start on mtgo. Does anybody here designs bots? And how much do you charge too :P

Redemptions push Mythics up. That and the Delver decks are all running him as 4 ofs.

StarCityGames D.C. - 18 copies in the top 8, 30 copies in the top 16.Online, U/W is just dominating tournaments and Geist is everywhere. Take a look at THIS Standard Premier from a few days ago. 21 copies in the top 8; every deck had at least 2. Similarly, the dailies are also filled with Geist.

I wouldn't be surprised to see it go up more with the spirit lord. Midnight Haunting, Geist, and Moorland Haunt make it worth it to run a couple (imo). For those who haven't seen it yet: Drokskol Captain 1WU Creature - Spirit Soldier Flying Other Spirit creatures you control get +1/+1 and have hexproof. 2/2

Congrats on finally finishing the set, Markers! I think it's sweet that you have Jesper Myrfors signing in 1993 and in 2010. Quite a long wait between sigs, eh?

Really looking forward to the DA release on MTGO but really NOT looking forward to the prices for foil Sorin. Think $200 will be enough to pick up a playset on prerelease weekend?
