You can point to me all you want, and call me names. But I think it speaks to a different issue when moderators club all the rippers into a single thread. When they remove themselves from reason, and allow other repeat rippers to have blame deflected from them.

You can state that these individuals and myself are from Canada, and that there is the possibility that we are connected. You can do that and not be mistaken. But it is something else to assume we are the same individual, which is what you and other moderators have done. You have made room for error, and now you are attempting to justify it.

It is a failure to be honest, and a failure to keep (other) people accountable.

These forums are in need of an update, and if you would adopt a system where e-mails were not revealed (like most websites), it would eliminate a lot of problems you see here today. We all know new rippers will emerge, they will continue to emerge, but the question is how are you going to address the problem.

Pointing to me - the supposed first hacker - is not the solution.

He's openly admitted it several times to my recollection. In fact, I still have the emails we traded back and forth when, for some reason, he grew a conscience and sent me back several people's cards.

Let me make a suggestion: Just as you put my name on all the pages, I would suggest doing something similar with “known scam method.” It would draw attention, and perhaps, people would look out for some of the indicators.

here is a suggestion, leave this site and never return, your address is posted all over this site, and you're very unliked. I'd rather us Canadians (especially in the Ottawa area, such as myself) not have it any harder to make trades due to your idiotic mistakes.

It’s not just you.

The members here are in denial, and John Strickland could be far more a problem than they understand. We can see that Jazaray remained silent in the face of reason; this is an emotional woman, with little to no power. There is an immaturity about the magic community, and she is no different.

There is a bigger issue than being ****ed off at John. While the experienced members are fine, the new traders are vulnerable. The emerging ripper will engage in predatory behavior, and the new users will be targeted. Even if a user is wise enough to spot an old account, and to request to have that person send first, what is stopping them from playing along? They could pretend to send first. There could be numerous victims before the account is shutdown.

But instead of addressing the problem, it is easier for them to point to John Strickland. Even though these address are five hours away, there is no connection to be made other than sharing a state. But it is so easy. Is that the best Jazaray and the moderator team can do?

This is not a secure trading forum, these forums have been the same for the last decade. There will always be rippers, there will always be people looking take advantage. There is no shortage of confirmed rippers, and new users will be snuffed out here. But instead of keeping people accountable, deflecting blame as an easy way out, and making appropriate motions to help protect the most vulnerable people here, they demonstrate how powerless they are.

Seriously, how many times do I have to tell people? I CAN'T DO ANYTHING. I can ban, I can fix emails, I can warn, I can post announcements, I can open and close threads. That's ALL.

I try my best to keep the different Canadian rippers separate. Yes, it was my fault that I didn't notice the address was from Quebec and not Ontario. Whoops. I'm human, just like anyone else I make mistakes. I caught on that Peter MacNamara wasn't you though, and he even lives in Ontario. No props for that?

Me and the other Moderating staff, we do what we can to try and make this a safer place for everyone, but we can only do so much. This IS the best we can do. I'm sorry if it's not enough.
