Wow! when was the last time we got to a 2.0 spoiler post?Overall I'm happy that the format will be slowing down a bit, but I'm really underwhelmed by the Bestow mechanic. It's an interesting idea but it breaks the auto-counter-if-target-invalid rule and the only card I can ever see casting for the bestow cost is Nighthowler. C'mon Wizards, make me want to play these things as enchantments!

Bestow is fantastic in limited. Can't wait to see it in action.

You mean Magic is not dying?!?! I don't think I have ever seen a 2nd post about a new set ever before on MOTL.

...and nighthowler has to deal with a little guy called scavenging ooze... They need to re-visit totem armor if they want to look at a playable aura mechanic, or possibly a more interactive version of the way rancor works.

I agree with WinkyBlitzen that the scry lands might be decent for control, but I still don't want to crack any if I were to buy a box.

I'm liking how this set is shaping up. Top-down design is fantastic, super resonant.

Pretty positive it's going to be 2 boxes and a fat pack every set.

Meh...no matter how good/bad the set is I'll always buy a case for drafting purposes for the first set of a block.

If these are the rare lands, I rather than have done a New Benalia cycle at uncommon. So make them get one color and at uncommon. Or at least untapped painlands with scry 1.

Technically these are all better than New Benalia. Unless you're playing monowhite in EDH.

He meant, if we're going to have a cycle of New Benalias, he'd rather it be a cycle of uncommon mono-color New Benalias, RATHER than a cycle of rare multicolor New Benalias. I think it's obvious they're strictly better than New Benalia. Stating so is redundant. Btw, Serra's Sanctum is up $15 from its original price, based on pure speculation.

Steam Augury 2UR Instant Reveal the top five cards of your library and separate them into two piles. An opponent chooses one of those piles. Put that pile into your hand and the other into your graveyard.

I don't understand this. WoTC wants to reprint old uncommon cards as rares with modifications? Is this the real theme? Not saying I wouldn't play it, but man...

In the case of FoF, it was printed as an uncommon what, 12 years ago? It's being moved up to rare based on a change in design philosophy across the rarities more than anything else. Wizards doesn't like to print cards at this level of complexity at uncommon anymore.

FoF has no business being at uncommon in today's world, sorry. Even with a more restrictive manacost and higher limitations on the "skill factor" part of the card. Certainly looks playable though.

I like the fof like reprint here, gives Izzet something it really needed for card advantage/selection, since RWU will be much more difficult with all the tap lands unless then new standard is substantially slower.

Psychic Intrusion looks like a fun card. I like that there are no restrictions on when the card can be cast - which is pretty much always the case with these sorts of effects.

Much worse than FoF. At least with FoF, you got the card that you wanted. Now you get the card that your opponent wants you to have... .

the opponent can still make bad pile choices for you to possibly reap more cards (3 vs 2 cards)

except you're the one making piles. you'll get 1 good spell and a land, or 2 ok spells and a land, generally. and if you really need that specific spell, and make the piles 1 vs 4, you either spent 4 mana to draw 1 card, or got 4 cards you didn't really want anyway. it's awkward. __________________ "He fights you not because you have wronged him, but because you are there."<@Anusien> Pretty sure New Zealanders are the sheep shaggers <KIP_NZ> Anusien: I'm a kiwi and I've shagged a sheep <KIP_NZ> we kiwi's like our sheep

But you can also bait them by going 1 and 4. Put the sphinx revelation by itself when u have one in hand already

if you're casting this on 4, ill glady give you the sphinxs. you end up spending 5 more mana before you even gain +1 card advantage. spin your wheels a little bit more, you aren't actually getting anywhere.
