a few buddies just got back into the game, mostly have cards from Mirrodin and earlier, and when we traded this weekend, they had a ton of good cards i wanted (Natural Order to name one) and it made it hard to do a deal because i knew the prices of the cards. i traded pretty much a good start of a U/W control for just it and my buddy thought he got a good deal...to me it isnt so much the value as what i can use towards my decks, all i want is deck cards, dont care for staples and that, just cards for my decks and nostalgia (i.e. Painlands from Tempest and Apocalypse, Invasion block Dragon Legends)

I had about 5-7 wants of a user, and he had 5-7 of mine, all under $5 or at least under $8. I list off like maybe 6 small cards i need, and about as many i had for him, and ask if he sees any deal to be made. He writes back "I am interested in your [lists like 4 dual lands including sea], let me know how you want to work it out". Dude, work WHAT out exactly? Also you get people like "Need underground sea, check my list" - lists $150 worth of cards for haves. Which is the same in person.

I have been using pucatrade for trades for deck needs and then using eBay/motl for buying and selling. Trading sux otherwise. I tried in person and with Everyone having xx app on their phone and wanting either value or equal to the penny I got fed up. Much easier on puca just slower and if I find the deal I want I just buy.

In a sense buylists between vendors have been more competitive, so trading has just become more centralized through onsite dealers in a sense. It's not that I need to get a better deal on every trade, but the constant checking of prices takes trades to new levels of time required.

A lot of stores use SCG as a price guide now, so store prices are actually semi reasonable. There's less value-added having to deal with any number of people online who hum and haw over ten bucks, pay shipping and wait three weeks to get a card now.

A lot of people I've seen buy at half SCG rather than coming up with their own buylists. I'd like to see SCG pull the rug out from under lazy wannabe dealers somehow. __________________ *My LJ*Letter Bombs!*FB*Logout- MM is a copycat! (So am I)*CKGB

M15 is shaping out to be one of the worst core sets ever. I mean its nice and all for nostalgic reasons to have Maho Djinn, Shivan Dragon and Nightmare taking up rare slots, but seeing the 2 mythic slots so far leaves the set a less to be desired. They better start revealing some WOW cards, otherwise, its gonna be a set in the like of fifth edition. __________________ 28th in refs on Motl! #1 Ref's for Arizona! From the mothership today: Each sample deck has several cards numbered 270 and higher that do not appear in Magic 2015 booster packs. These cards are legal for tournament play in any format that includes the Magic 2015 core set. So, those rares won't be taking up rares slots in booster packs, just in the intro decks.

I always had really good luck with Mercadian Masques cards. I still have a ton that I peeled off. Looks cool.

it doesn't really matter what sets if you're willing to clean the surface. I forgot my blank cards at home when I went to GP Sacramento and I just HAD to have Rush make me a "token". I peeled whatever random theros (or similar) junk foils I had, then I used rubbing alcohol I got from a 7-11 at 1 AM to clean them. Trust me, acetone is farrrrrr preferred to rubbing alcohol, but that was the only thing I could find at the only store we could find open. It did the trick, they got all clean and I got me a nice peice done from Chris Rush. TL;DR just clean the glue off if they don't peel well

The redirecting to the dumb page with Garruk's face from any other link on the Wizards website is seriously ****ing me off.

It's going to take some getting used to, but the giant picture at the top of every single page is really going to get old fast.

So, I just joined a local MTG group on FB... they are basically the only players around in a 50 mile radius. There are only about 100 of them. Here's the thing, after I joined their group they invited me to come play and trade with them. So I asked them what guide they generally go by in trade valuation... (thinking SCG or TCG low/mid/whatever, ebay completed's or w/e) They all use some weird crap I'd never even heard of and they told me that they value bulk rares at $1.00 each They even went so far as to say, quote, "But you can sell them for a dollar each if you want to" Me = flabbergasted! I am asking to you dear folks from the MOTL community.... What on Earth should I tell these guys!? I mean, where do you even start!? This situation would be a boon to the unscrupulous but I am not gonna fleece the people I wanna play with ya know! Besides that just damn bad Karma! Thoughts?
