Hmmm, I'm not sure what the logic is, pretty sure most people would be able to see that more features equal increased traffic which can only benefit his store.

Best guess I can make is that after re-doing the front page (which many people never see) and not really seeing a return on doing so, he decided not to put anymore effort into anything and has all but disappeared from the site since then.
