The Rock was awesome. Actually got the chance to meet him at a show a few years ago. That late '80's/early 90's Sox team was a ton of fun to watch. You had the Rock, Big Hurt, Fisk, Ozzie, Robin, One-Dog... a lot of guys that you could tell loved the game. No matter what you think of Ozzie or Robin as managers, there was no denying they love the game, and watching them play was a blast.

This! And Ventura made himself a name for hitting those Grand Slams. I didn't know he manages/managed? Don't forget Bo Jackson's stint with the Sox For something completely different, is anyone on here familiar with the site Twinkledeals.com? Is it any good/safe ordering from that site?

Give me just a few more years. My account was made April 08, 2000. I was 19 at the time, and I turned 35 this past August. I've got a lot of things to do today. Perhaps I should start doing them.
So, after probably 200+ job applications filled out, I got a call back from one that wasn't a shifty temp agency. Pretty excited about this one too. Hopefully it works out, even though a two hour commute will be no fun. The only other sectors that seem to be hiring near me is crap fast food or seasonal retail, or the health care industry that is booming here.

The good thing about MOTL's slow descent into nothingness...no new BTA threads in over 6 weeks. I guess it's so dead around here that even the rippers have moved on. Maybe we do have enough mods.

I got married 2.5 months ago. I recommend it IF you find someone you have no doubts about after having really thought it through. But most people don't really think it through or haven't found the right person.

I've been married for three years, and we've been together for eight. I love her dearly, she's wonderful and all that jazz. That said, I am getting utterly sick of trying to teach a 26 year old woman how to be an adult. I'm getting sick of the mess. I'm getting sick of the financial idiocy. I'm getting sick of her not taking care of items like the cars and phones she's destroyed over the years. She is awesome. Some of her habits are decidedly less than awesome, and there is no way to escape. It's like having a bad roommate that you can't toss out, at least without losing half your ****. This divide will likely always be there due to our age gap though. I also just think that marriage is an antiquated concept that a developed society should just be done with. It's kind of silly if you make the attempt to remove yourself from it and look at it objectively. If you're the religious type, ok, sure. Past that, at least in the U.S., are the hassles worth the piddly tax breaks? At least she understand that when I keel over, I want a ridiculous funeral with my ashes shot out of a cannon.

So, like, why don't you make her wear stuff like totalled cars?

Started a new job today that is scrub restaurant work, but honestly pretty cool, and everyone I worked with today busted their butts. Food quality is great. No obnoxious high schoolers. The pay ain't great, and it's only part time, but I'll deal since I'm trying to study this CompTIA stuff anyway. It's a pizza place that just opened three months ago, and is already doing a ton of business. The owners are in the middle of opening two new locations as it is. What I find odd is that it took over a location that was also a pizza place that had really great food quality too, but really never did much business. The owner that I interviewed with said that they have done next to no marketing. Strange. Good for them though, they're super nice people. Who knows though; I've got prior restaurant experience, and prior management experience, so we shall see what happens. It's a damn sight better than that last new job I started that totally sucked balls. One of the guys I worked with tonight owns an emissions testing center, and I mentioned the problems with my car, and all the troubleshooting and work I've put into it. I told him the error code, he said that the P0401 error on Fords can be a leak at the gas cap, but it will always show as exhaust reflow insufficient, and never as a gas cap failure. I will be so ****ed, especially since you have to go through hell just to test the DPFE sensor (which tested fine). Life, man. Weird ****.

No offense meant, but humor me: What part of your married life is different than opposed to your previous non-married state life in such a way that you recommend being married? I agree that people get married too quickly. Some people stay with each other their whole life without being happy. quote: Originally posted by DJSmurfy: I've been married for three years, and we've been together for eight. Honestly, this doesn't sound good. When you compare your wife to a bad roommate that you want to toss out but can't, that's bad. Are you SURE you want to be with this girl for the rest of your life? quote: I also just think that marriage is an antiquated concept that a developed society should just be done with.
Yes. quote: It's kind of silly if you make the attempt to remove yourself from it and look at it objectively. If you're the religious type, ok, sure. Past that, at least in the U.S., are the hassles worth the piddly tax breaks?
Personally, I think the tax breaks (which we have here as well) are a form of discrimination. If I choose to live with someone my whole life but choose NOT to get married, why am I getting shafted? Marriage is just a symbolic statement. To those who enjoy that, go ahead and get married! If you don't care (or need, in my case) about that, don't. Personally I believe it's much more symbolic and romantic to declare your love in your own way, own time, own place and without months of planning (and the whole sideshow that comes with it) before that moment where you are forced to so 'I do' at that specific time. Note that I congratulate everyone who wants to get married or is married, good for you! I hope you continue to be happier every single day. I tried it. It's not for me.

Well, I suppose it shows a different level of commitment. I'm not religious so that doesn't play into it for me but I did date a lot of great women who wanted to marry me before I found someone I actually wanted to enter into that level of commitment with. Marriage is special to me. But it doesn't need to be that for everyone, though I guess I wish we didn't have people like Brittany Spears who just goes to Vegas for a weekend, gets married, and then gets it annulled. quote: Originally posted by AEther Storm:

I can understand that some people find the marital status a special commitment, so that's fair. For me, I don't see the added value of marriage. I don't love someone more after getting married, nor would I feel different. __________________ I'm a geek, you're a geek. Let's trade.Lord Flasheart: Enter the man who has no underwear. Ask me why. "Word of advice to guys considering getting married:DON'T.".. take advice from some guy on MOTL. Our experiences aren't yours. Take your time, make sure this is the right decision for you and your partner, because it may not be. If it is, GREAT! If not, GREAT! __________________ *My LJ*Letter Bombs!*FB*Logout- MM is a copycat! (So am I)*CKGB

Some people assign value to things others wouldn't. That's fine. It's not a right or wrong, it's just what each person wants. If they got rid of marriage as a legal concept I'd be ok with that. Oh and don't worry, I also stuck it in crazy a few times

Marriage is for some, and not for others.Just like foils. And foreign cards. And chocolate milk. Except people that don't like chocolate milk should be shot with buckshot, and then dumped onto a mountain of rock salt.
