If anything, shrooms should have lessened his ability. If he wants to put himself at a disadvantage, well then good for him. Granted, I'm sure the organizers are not happy that this is getting out publicly, but any player who is complaining is out of their mind. So what's going on here? It one of those areas where I have a bit of natural talent, but not a lot of experience to go with it. Fanciest thing I've done so far was a ribeye served over polenta, with grilled asparagus, and portobellos sautéed in butter and cabernet sauvignon. Topped the ribeye with some bleu cheese and stuck it under the broiler so that the cheese would melt and caramelize. I don't like red meat or mushrooms, but the wife loved it.

(With the exception of bleu cheese since I'm not a fan) If you want to cook more, I would just go to your favorite grocery or farmer market and buy whatever fancy you that trip, then go home and research on what you want to cook. That's what I do if I am stumped on what to cook.
