Not especially. I mean, North Kingstown is one of the most expensive towns in RI, a lot of wealthy people live here. It's just the area of NK that I live in is the poorer area. Low income housing is all around us (and we live in low income housing as well). Plus... it's RI, there's nothing to do here. I guess some of the punks around think it's a jolly good time going around and ruining other people's property. IDK. Damn kids. Thanks, Jazaray [/QUOTE] Have you tried the Epic Strategy i had with my old car? It was to ignore every problem except oil changes and hope for the best. Car had an oil leak so bad that it was dry a month after an oil change. Had to ask my boss what it meant when a dipstick was completely dry (after figuring out what a dipstick was). So I just started topping it up with cheapo dino oil from the hardware store. When everything was on the verge of exploding I went and got a new Honda and the government gave my wife $1200 in bus passes in a cash for clunkers scheme.

Might work out except I have to get it inspected by the end of the month and I doubt it will pass inspection with a radiator leak.. :-\ Thanks, Jazaray

Rhode Island is like the size of a couple baseball fields. Couldn't you go to Delaware or some other state to get plated that doesn't do vehicle inspections?

Rugby is more physical, but fair. To me it's the fairest sport in the game. And above all, no matter how big and strong you are, there is a heapload of respect for the opponent AND the ref. Even though the general rugby player could eat a ref for breakfast. That being said, a rugby player could eat an American Football player for breakfast, too quote: Originally posted by chaos021: Well I don't understand the rules, but I do like the action. Also, what's up with those giant scrums they start with?
It's not that difficult really. But a scrum is held when a small foul is made. It is a bit like a face-off with ice-hockey, but the team which the foul was made against may roll the ball underneath the players towards their own team. The scrumming players may only move the ball backwards with their feet until the ball comes free and the scrumhalf can pick up the ball and continue play. The other team tries to manouvre (spelling..?) themselves and push the other team away in order to gain possession of the ball and effectively 'stealing' it. Happy Halloween, MOTL! Also, I'd say that rugby is less "violent" than American football. You might just have been deceived by the absence of armour and the continuous action.

The best part of rugby is not being forced to play it in high school. I can happily watch other people meaninglessly give themselves concussions.

Hold up now. There's entertainment value in those concussions. __________________ "Message to women worldwide: Girls....we're stupid. We don't like games. We don't know games. We can't read minds. Say it like you mean or STFU." -rockondonSale Thread

Sure but not my own. It took a long time after high school to work off the trauma of phys-ed. I think I'd still rather slit my wrists than play any team sport.

Whoa. That must've been some sort of serious. I personally loved playing soccer. __________________ "Message to women worldwide: Girls....we're stupid. We don't like games. We don't know games. We can't read minds. Say it like you mean or STFU." -rockondonSale Thread

Congrats Dave! Still drunk I suppose after celebrating? Next thing you know the Cubs will win the thing... The difference with rugby and other team sports is that they play on when having a concussion. I sometimes see players getting their head stitched at the sidelines before continue playing. I then see Cristiano Ronaldo tripping over some grass and then screaming like it's the end of the world. For instance.
New Zealand won by the way, awesome match! Glad the Springboks took 3rd. Oh, just learned that Van Persie won't be selected for the Dutch national soccer squad anymore! Finally!! Maybe we'll score some goals now.

I will admit, I got smashed after the last time the Royals won it all but now I'm a bit older and a bit more fragile so while I woke the neighbors and their dogs with my celebration (it was near 0100 when the game ended and there are no Royals fans here in Indianapolis but me), I kept it a bit more reserved this time around. Still feels great. The Royals have been a great story for the last 3 seasons and it's nice to see them take it all this year. They truly deserved it with their never give up attitude and after the way they battled this year after coming so close last year. No quit in them and right back to work after the great season last year. Thanks for the nod! You find yourself in the states, near me during baseball season, I'll treat you to a game in whatever city we're in. It's not Rugby, but it's still a heck of a game. Dave

I WILL hold you up on that. Make no mistake, baseball is my game as well (maybe an odd thing to say for a Dutch guy). I've played 20+ years, mostly pitching and left-field (my 'youth-idol' was Tim Raines because he stole a lot of bases and played for the W.Sox). Was excited to see the Dutch national team win the World titel 2-3 years ago, but too busy to follow it now. I have a pub-agreement with my best friend (with whom I played baseball with for about 16+ years, 2nd baseman/catcher/center field) that we'll go to NYC one day and see the Mets play (nice stadium). But I don't care which team it'll be. Any MLB park is my Wembley.

Exactly!! Started with the late Expos. Can't remember where they traded him to though. His son played MLB as well, but not for a long time. I miss the game. #nostalgia __________________ I'm a geek, you're a geek. Let's trade.Lord Flasheart: Enter the man who has no underwear. Ask me why. Yeah, he was part of the first pro game where a father played against his son, then he had the opportunity to play left field in a game where his son played center field for the same team. How cool would that have been? He went to the White Sox, then the Yankees and played for a couple of other teams before going back to the Expos. I think his last season was with the Orioles or the Marlins. Happy to say one of my favorite cards is the Rock's rookie card in 1981 even though it's not worth terribly much. I loved watching him play almost as much as the Iron Man.
