You got your house cheap. P.S. seriously, 200k is a bargain as long as you are not living in Northern BC.

thats why i dont play competitive standard... people just are copycats and you are playing on luck more than anything else. Sure there's some inherent skills but i would not be surprised if a 10 yr old kid top 8... it's funny one guy justifies him doing it was "well if a magic player does research playtesting etc. he/she will come to the same conclusion of that deck so this is merely a shortcut to that conclusion..."

That's true to a certain extent. but then again, you sometimes get stuff Like LSV elf combo, no one saw that coming . I'm glad things like that happen once in a while.

When Cid says house, he means "apartment." Even in downtown areas $200K will buy you a studio or 1-bedroom. Incidentally, in Prince George, you can buy a house built in the 70s or 60s for $50K. Crazy. In Smithers, you can get 5 acres for $250K.

I would've moved to the island for some cheap housing, but I don't feel like being a meat shield when the tsunami hits. I <3 magic. (just to keep this magic related. ) __________________ MOTL Fantasy NBA 2010 ChampionGet a brain, Morans!

The commute back to Toronto would be do-able, but it would suck. And don't the Rust Belt taxes kill the fact that houses in Detroit cost the same as a can of coke? Also, I'm not sure if Canadians are allowed to own property in the US. I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be hard for me to get a green card, but I'm only moving south if there's law work to be done there that pays significantly better than Canada. Granted, the beer is dirt cheap in Buffalo. I went to bar in American Niagara that had 75 cent pints of Labatt Blue. Labatt Blue is nasty, but hey, it was cheap. There was this great beer/cheese/stuff shop in Buffalo (apparently Canadian cheese is taxed to death, says my conservative friend from whom I take everything with a tankard of salt) too. Horseradish cheese is some good. When I was in Buffalo I couldn't help noticing that there was very, very few buildings newer than, say, 1985. I think I saw a bank that was new, and maybe a McDonalds. It might be a good idea to buy rentals in Buffalo and then rent them out, then flip the houses when the prices go up. I'm sure eventually the area won't be in the dumps. Like pretty much as soon as it gets too expensive to ship stuff from China to the eastern US.

there is money in buffalo but its well hidden. if you walk 2 blocks from my house the houses go for $500,000+ but the most expensive one on my block is prolly only 40,000. as for newer buildings people here are very protective of the architecture so its not all that easy to just knock down the old buildings and put up knew ones. we have a ton of really nice victorian homes all over the city plus there is a lot of awsome art deco buildings __________________ Deathlace count 11 Alpha 00 Beta 06 IE 05 CE 00 Unl 00 Rev 00 4th

RE: Surgical extraction
quote: from the wizards forums: I dont know how many people on here that have posted played standard when timespiral was in it. Extripate was in the top 5 cards in standard, when lorowyn came in it was in the top 3 with thoughtseize helping it to power. Now with standard playing inquisitions and duress in decks to control players from getting their combos. Surgical Extraction will reshape standard and will be in most extended decks and probally in all legacy decks. The fact that you can have this in something other than black is broken. This is Extripate 2.0. Yes split second is good but it is restricted to black decks or decks that splash black. This will be a card that you need to get as many as you can. Not just a playset. This card will get banned in legacy. Standard probally not, this isnt a broken as skullclamp or revenger Extended Most likely with pyromancer assention decks getting ready to make a push in extended when lorowyn shifts

The most dangerous combo in Standard is Jace TMS and Islands. Duress + Extirpate will stop it cold.

I had the same argument with a friend of mine who doesn't play anything but Standard. Extirpate didn't kill combo and it is uncountable, its strong but its not broken. __________________ Member Since 03/28/2001 10000+ posts 3rd in posts in Ontario 15th in posts on MOTL Top 5 in Refs in Ontario (by people who location posted)

I do simply cause it basically will cost 2 life to cast more often then not... This will allow you to do what you want, and still get rid of a threat, which seems good. __________________ I shall have the souls of all who defy me. "Lord Crovax"

There's protective people everywhere, but that doesn't stop newer concrete towers from going up. I dunno, Buffalo wasn't that bad, it just wasn't that good. It kinda reminded me of "stereotypical urban USA" with US flags everywhere and that certain kind of mid-town architecture that you see in TV. Though it could be the area we were. However, I do belief that the 3AM crowd at a 24-hour hoagie joint nearish to UBuffalo was pretty friendly compared to the equivalent in Canada: "Where yarr from? Vancouver? Yarr Matey. Why yarr come upstate New Yarrk? Beerrr? Yarr! You goin' tha Tarranto Lawr School? Yarr!" Incidentally, we apparently stayed in the "worst hotel in town", this horrible turd hole right beside the "original Buffalo Wings" bar. I really should have told my compatriots to stay at the less scuzzy hotel a block down, but hey, we're all broke. The wings were decent. I guess I like more "tender" than "crispy" wings. Their "death hot" wasn't very "death", but then I have protection from spicy. I would love to live somewhere where houses are worth less than the national average for yearly wages, and there's some great shopping in those malls catering to Canadians looking for cheap American shizzle (and cheap liquor), but I'm kinda doubting that I'd find much work down there. NY lets Canadians write the bar pretty easily, but if I did that I'd probably go work in the NYC where I can get Wall Street wages (which, by the way, are omgwtfbbq high - $140K for articling?! after paying NYC rents, you might have enough money for food!) I know we drove past a mtg shop so at least it exists down there. Incidentally, what's your property taxes? I bet they aren't geared towards property values. Else why would there have been so many boarded-up shops on the way down?

on housing talk:my house costs 380.000$ and its 1033sq feet. that relatively small. my yard/garden is like 200sq feet(bare fits a car there) would love to live somwhere else, to have a decent size home. half of everything we make => mortgage. in other news: when getting no replies in the value-forum, what are the next best thing to do?
im considering paying someone to value my cards. (small-ish list)

Sorry, home. Condo in Surrey, lol. Volcanon go it right. You can't even buy a crack shack with 200k in the lower mainland, lol. Oh, yeah, magic. I picked up some $2 Wastelands in a shop that didn't sell magic cards for a long time. Go me. __________________ #1 in posts from Brazil!#3 in Refs from Brazil; Got any Portuguese Foils?
