I don't alot of cards that would allow me to build other decks. Time is also tight, and I do not wish to spend money (since its a test to see if I still have the 'magic' fire inside me!), so Landstill is basically my only choice... Check my H/W if you want to help me. But all of my cards are there. My options are kind of limited

Sorry, don't take me the wrong way. I firmly believe that any deck can win on any given day, and while Landstill has lost a bit of its luster, it can still be viable.

I went to a weekly tournament today just to scout the metagame. It would appear that Affinity, Merfolk and other aggro are very present.

Landstill is good vs bad players because people won't break the standstill because they are afraid of you drawing 3 cards.

Other players know when its fine to just let you draw 3.

I don't play standard at all so I was looking for some help.

BAD idea on the Mortarpod. Caw-Blade runs it as one of its key equipment, next to Sword of Feast and Famine. It's been run over Sword of Body and Mind, Sylvok Lifestaff, and all other equipment because it's that good in the deck. I've won games because I was able to attack, deal combat damage, untap my lands, sacrifice the Hawk carrying the Mortarpod, equip to a second Hawk, sac for one point, equip to a third Hawk and deal the last point of damage.

Using pinpoint removal on S. Hawks is a bad idea in general. Arc Trail is pretty much the only acceptable removal, since it takes out two, but even then it's not really ideal, since you still have two more to deal with.

Mortarpod is good IN Caw-Blade because it can throw out Hawks left and right and sacrifice them to take down players, Lotus Cobras, and planeswalkers.

Opened yet another (!) Elesh Norn, which made short work of many an opponent. Also got 5 mana myr in relevant colors and a mycosynth wellspring so I ended up running G/W/r with Artillerize and Beast Within among other removal. Other rares I used were Mimic Vat and Chancellor of the Annex.

Traded my Elesh for another guy's Vorinclex (what I really wanted).

Ended up getting 3rd place and won 5 packs. Not a bad night at all
