So, I showed up for D&D tonight and was looking through the new Magic promos that came in. I noticed that we are missing a full set of Squadron Hawk (only 3 packs instead of the 4 we need), and have 3 Artisan of Kozilek left. When I talked to the person that said that they ran things last week, they claimed to not have given out any Hawks, then later said that they might have given one out. Any suggestions on how I should handle this?__________________

If you have any regular players it might be worth asking them if they remember if any were given out last week. Unless you're thinking he may have given one to a friend when they shouldn't have been giving them out yet, in which case I don't know.

Does this person that ran it have any magic backround? Would he have a reason to steal them, whether it be to sell them or keep them for himself? Is it possible they were misplaced somewhere in the store? My LGS usually has to be reminded to hand out the fnm promos, since we usually get 40-50 person for a fnm, and the tournaments end late, so handing out a promo at the end of the night, is her last priority.

But really if you can't prove it either way you should go with your gut and certainly not risk something like that happening twice.

For those of you who play a ton of Magic Online: What are some of the most expensive cards I would need for a cube? Are values for cards from say MTGOtraders.com values I can expect to pay for cards, or can you buy cards cheaper from different bots?

Do you guys leave your promo packs such that it's not really all that hard for somebody to steal them? It could be anybody then.

Im just glad that the whole pack to power craze is dead. There are still a few stragglers that havent got the memo, but most of them have stopped. Guess it must have not been worth getting called an idiot every time they proposed a trade.

Is it just me or is Scars/New Phyrexian one of the worst sealed sets in long time? Most of the rares I opened were complete bulk or edh crap (best I got was Puresteel Paladin, but I didnt open ANY equipments).

The one that works there that would have done the tournament I was gone for does play, but I don't really think that she would have taken them. We keep the promos in a special box in a drawer behind the register, so it's not easy access for people, but it's not overly hard for someone that knows where they are (and all of the Magic players do) to sneak in there. Anyway, between late Wednesday night and Friday afternoon when I came in before FNM to set them up since I was staying home sick, at least 3 more cards that I know about have disappeared. I then contacted the main Magic guy that does the ordering and all for our shop and got permission to take physical control of the promos just so that this won't happen again. Pretty disappointed in whoever felt the need to get all grabbyhands, but without proof, not much I can do other than hope they're stupid enough to have a promo Hawk before next week when we finally get to start handing them out. __________________
