not sure why they have a "without worlds" list when there was a GP the weekend before that had virtually the same effect on planeswalker points. Two large events where you could grind side events before PT Honolulu invite list gets locked in and they randomly decide to have a list that excludes one, but if you weren't at that GP then you're pretty much screwed any how, right? Either way, the system doesn't work for me. I live where very little magic happens. I play in everything I can, but its no where near enough. I'll likely lose my GP byes too. Good times. Also, you got rolled round 2 in that PTQ.... hard. Did you switch colors for game 2? What does your pool look like? It seems giest flame is better then your deck... or mignight haunting, lol. watched round one... bloodgift, curse of deaths hold... maybe it isn't as bad as round 2 made it look. I really hate sealed events, lol.

the w/o worlds list was for those who werent playing in worlds, had a chance.. given worlds was contributing to competitive total for the competitors @ 12x.. which seemed absurd.. as for my pool.. i opted game 2 to go more creature heavy, better evasion, stalker + 2 cleavers, and i couldnt play bonds x2 vs a white deck.. and yes.. geistflame > my deck © __________________ Since it is obviously inconceivable that all religions can be right, the most reasonable conclusion is that they are all wrong. -Christopher HitchensReligion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful. -Seneca the Younger

The changes are pretty confusing date wise, but conceptually, I'll say hesitantly that it looks better than the old system.

The changes seem better and more in line with the way things used to work but could they not have come up with something better than "World Magic Cup"? That doesn't just roll of the tongue easily. Were "World Cup of Magic" or "Magic World Cup" somehow off limits? __________________ PMs don't work in Chrome or Firefox 4.0+, see HERE for work arounds.

Round three at FNM:I sit down and he starts trash talking me immediately - tells me I'm going to lose, blah, blah, blah. He wins the die roll and elects to draw first. I mulligan to 6 (5 spells, one land). I shuffle my library, present to him to cut/shuffle. He takes the top card, draws it, looks at it, then quickly puts it back. JUDGE! The judge comes over, and the guy says it was an accident. Judge gives him a warning, tells me to shuffle up, and present my deck again. As soon as the judge leaves, he says, "You're a {censored}. Why do you have to tattle on me? It was an accident, but you're a {censored}. I'm up three cards on you now, and I'm going to beat you." I'm playing R/G Wolf Ramp and he's playing an infect deck (with NO Phyrexian Crusaders). I play Inferno Titan and kill a guy. He doesn't know what it does; he reads it and complains about mythic rares after Inferno Titan goes all the way. We shuffle up for game two and he plays a guy, I burn a guy, he plays a guy, I burn a guy. Then he plays Putrefax and I get 5 poison counters. I play Inferno Titan and he plays Corpse Cur. I ask him, "What are you getting back?" He quickly grabs a card from his graveyard and says, "I don't have to tell you." "Well, then let me see your graveyard." (I can easily deduce what he took.) "No!" He grabs his graveyard with his other hand. JUDGE! The judge comes over and explains about public information and declaring targets. My opponent claims that he just didn't want my dirty hands to touch his cards. He shows the Putrefax he got back. I attack with Inferno Titan, he plays Putrefax again and says, "And now, I attack for 5 poison and kill you!" Me: "Wait. I make my Inkmoth Nexus a creature and block. I'll take 4 poison." I play a second Inferno Titan and that's enough to win. He says, "Well, despite your stature, you were still able to pull out a win. Congratulations on your mythic rare deck." (I'm short, so he decided to get one more dig in) Then he continues, "You know you cheated, right?" Me: "What?" "Your deck has too many mythics. You're a cheater. I cast my spell of {censored} YOU. It costs no mana, so I just get to say, {censored} YOU!." I dismiss that and sign mark the match slip a 2-0 victory for me and sign my name. I give it to him to sign and he says, "I'm going to write on the match slip saying you're a cheater." {"My opponent is a cheater; he had too many mythics"} - he actually wrote that. I wish I had a camera phone to capture the moment. I don't feel like arguing with him any longer, so I just take it to the head judge. I explain the little note next to our match score. Judge: "Wait, what?" "He got beaten by Inferno Titan two games in a row, so he called me a cheater for beating him with mythic rares." The two judges later take us each aside, separately. I explain everything that happened, my opponent gets a short lecture on appropriate behavior and both judges apologize profusely for such a ridiculous experience.

$6 entry fee for Standard, $10 for Draft. We were both out of contention for prize, but he started off confident that he could beat me and still get something. That's when it started to go downhill. I told him that neither of us could win anything; we're just playing this game for fun. He said he was still going to win, yada, yada, yada, trash talking begins.

I have a bunch of store credit locally. Should I pick up a $55 Jace or $65 FoW to trade towards duals? Which is in more demand here?

what I originally was gonna reply was this'd be a former, of-less-than-avg-intelligence ygo convert.. i thought better of it, as that'd make no sense, THAT game's card power is based on rarity (not counting inf reprints) I'd have needled the heck outta the kid, prob to the point of crying, or I wouldnt think i gave it any effort >=) © __________________ Since it is obviously inconceivable that all religions can be right, the most reasonable conclusion is that they are all wrong. -Christopher HitchensReligion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful. -Seneca the Younger

Yeah I know the type. I made a trash talker at the Colombus 5k cry. It's sad the lack of respect people have.

It's funny how when you jab back at a bully-type they cry more easily and harder than the person would that's being bullied.

Hmm.. I'd say a FoW is in more demand HOWEVER a $55 jace is closer to ebay price than a $65 FoW is and I can easily see jace being $55 in the next few months once legacy season starts up again, but I can't see FoW being $65 again since the price is pretty much stabilized. TLDR, Go with the jace. Yaku, that story is ridiculous. I'd laugh in his face.

This is the biggest reason I avoid every tournament outside of FNM. Generally, I'm a very calm, nice, and relaxed person. I treat everyone with respect up until they give me a reason not to. However, after hearing nothing but horror stories about other players from friends, I decided I wouldn't last. Apparently, some people can be real huge douches, or just straight up cheaters. I really would just straight up knock someone on their ass. I don't know about you, but being banned/suspended because some kid got the better of me does not sound fun... and we havn't gotten to the jail part yet. This year, I'd really like to try to take my playing to the next level, but unfortunately this is always in the back of my mind.

hmmm.. there are the douches, but that's usually 1 round out of 7-8 at a bigger event. Most people from my observation are pretty nice if you are nice in return. don't be afraid to say: "hi, good luck"

I don't mind saying hi, asking them how they've been doing, etc, but I never wish them good luck. While I may mislead you about my deck and whats in it and such, I still don't say "good luck" when I don't mean it at all. I want my opponent to lose, not be lucky, lol. Guess I'm odd like that.
