Last time I did this, I made cuts because there are prizes. So this isn't something new. __________________ -Schmitty 82nd in Refs [297] on MOTL (1 behind weitz and Avatar of Might) 2nd in Refs [297] in OH-IO (66 behind souladvocate) 2nd in Posts [8003] in OH-IO (only 85 behind Val!) “If Brad Stevens is the future of coaching in college basketball, the sport is in a good place.” - Rick Pitino

Of course I want card that appeal to me. It's my contest. That's the point. And cuts are part of it. You must be one of those kids that was raised getting a trophy for participation. First of all, I didn't put effort in the usernames so my apologies there.@Link: I think you started off wrong. It isn't a Wizards survey to make cards they like, it's about making cards that follow Blckmage's guidelines. As he said, it's his topic and prizes to give out. If you'd started your post with 'can you explain to me... blablah' that would've been better. @Blckmage: I was under the impression that each of the first round contestants could enter the first 2 rounds, and then cuts would be made? Also, your last reply was too much IMO. Don't turn this great post into a war, that's what the Barfight post is for. Please guys, keep this fun. If there are disagreements, and I'm sure there will be more as we all put some (or a lot!) time in thinking about our cards and we could get disappointed if the scores are not as high as we'd expected them to be, discuss, but no rants please. Unless I misunderstood, I vote that the 5-6 people that were cut still are eligible for the 2nd round. I can imagine it is a lot of work for you too Blckmage, but it's just one more round. Thanks! I'll be submitting today hopefully. __________________ I'm a geek, you're a geek. Let's trade.Lord Flasheart: Enter the man who has no underwear. Ask me why. You realize personal attacks make you look bad? This was supposed to be a fun competition, and your attitude just ruined it. A little piece of advice: arrogance will get you nowhere.

Card 1: Ruby Weapon (Mythic) 9RRRRR Legendary Creature – WeaponIf this would enter play from a zone other than its owner’s hand, shuffle it into its owner’s library instead If a spell or ability would have an effect on ~ other than damage or detain, ignore those parts of the spell or ability All source of damage gains wither Half all damage that would be dealt to ~ (round down) X: ~ deals x damage to target creature or player, remove X -1/-1 counters from ~ for each damage dealt this way 3: tap target lands 0: Exile a creature of an opponent controls at random. Activate this ability only if there are more than 2 creatures that you don’t control “What’s that red thing in the middle of the desert? Let’s go poke it Desert-Walking Choco!” -Tombstone of a curious Cloud 18/18 I know this guy is a wall of text, but I was gambling on the fact that you played Final Fantasy 7, because if you haven’t, this entry would surely be a zero. The flavor would definitely not be there and at least 2 other ability would not be there if this would ever see print, but since this is for fun… but I digress. Ruby Weapon is an optional boss, arguably the hardest boss in the game so he had to cost a lot and be really big. He couldn’t be a planeswalker because he sleeps in the sand until you go play with him, so planes-walking was never in the cards for him. Now the breakdown of abilities If this would enter play from a zone other than its owner’s hand, shuffle it into its owner’s library instead. Self-explanatory, shouldn’t be that easy to get him out If a spell or ability would have an effect on ~ other than damage or detain, ignore those parts of the spell or ability Literally, nothing affects him…except the effect of “stop”, and “stop” in Magic, is detain. All source of damage gains wither In FF7, damage doesn’t go away at end of turn and this guy would be impossible to kill without this clause Half all damage that would be dealt to ~ (round down) This dude takes like no damage in the game X: ~ deals x damage to target creature or player, remove X -1/-1 counters from ~ for each damage dealt this way He has tentacles that drain HP 3: tap target lands He has tentacles that drains MP 0: Exile a creature of your choice. Activate this ability only if there are more than 2 creatures that you don’t control He quicksands someone out of the battle completely and you can’t get him/her back. If the wall of text turns you off, my submission for this to see print would be Ruby Weapon (Mythic) 9RRRRR Legendary Creature – Weapon If this would enter play from a zone other than its owner’s hand, shuffle it into its owner’s library instead If a spell or ability would have an effect on ~ other than damage or detain, ignore those parts of the spell or ability All source of damage gains wither X: ~ deals x damage to target creature or player, remove X -1/-1 counters from ~ for each damage dealt this way 18/18 Card 2: Forever Essence 5 (Mythic ) Artifact - Bond ~ can only be bonded to a non-creature, non- land permanent Spells that share a card type with the bonded permanent can be cast from your graveyard Bond – 5 (attach ~ to non-creature, non- land permanent). This can only be done as a sorcery I didn’t want to do anything too crazy for this Card 3: Citizen of All Realms 2 (Mythic) Artifact Creature – Beast Sunburst 2 Remove two +1/+1 counters from ~: Gain 3 life, ~ deals 2 damage to target creature, return target creature card from your graveyard to your hand, put a 1/2 Spider token with reach into play or draw a card. 2: return ~ to its owner’s hand 0/1 He does things and then does them again

Resubmitted my entry. Deleted my first entry as Verduran Emissary already exists, so just changed the name of Card 3.quote: Originally posted by B14ckM4g3: Round 2Card 1: Mythic level rares only! I want a new planeswalker/legendary creature that is based off of a video game/cartoon/comic book (FICTIONAL ONLY!). Please link me a wikipedia entry of the person you are using as it will assist me in judging if I am not familiar with your character choice.
He-Man, Master of the Multiverse 2RW - Mythic Planeswalker Flash When ~ comes into play, you can’t lose the game this turn. All damage and/or life loss that would reduce your life total to less than 1, reduces it to 1 instead. +1: Destroy target non-basic land. That land’s controller may search his/her library for a basic land card and put it into play. +1: Put a red and green 3/2 cat creature token named Battlecat with first strike and haste into play. -X: ~ deals X damage to target creature or player and you gain that much life. -X: ~ destroy target artifact or enchantment with casting cost equal to X. Its controller loses X life. 4 Stripped from his weaker half, he roams the planes of the Multiverse confirming his motto on each one: He HAS the power. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/He-Man I love He-Man. No wait, let me rephrase that, I am a big fan of He-Man (don’t want you to get the wrong idea). He was my childhood hero. I suppose I related to him a bit as my name is Herman so it only differs 1 letter. When I was small I wanted to change my name into He-Man (true story) but I had to wait until I was 18 according to my parents. I suppose I got sensible later. I designed him as Adam (his weaker half) that would transform into He-Man when something happened, but I couldn’t make it work, so here it is. He always saves the day, hence his ‘ prevent from losing this turn’ clause. Battlecat should be obvious enough, his sidekick. Had him made a Legendary Battlecat first but that would mess up the +1 ability. Hope you like it.
quote: Card 2: Future sight equipment expansion! I want an equipment from future sight. What do I want this equipment to do? NOT EQUIP TO A CREATURE! Land, enchantment, planeswalker, artifact, player, whatever. Get creative, make a new mechanic if you want. Utilize things in future sight to assist you if you want (contraptions maybe?).
Bucket of Grease 2 – Uncommon Artifact – Equipment ~ can only be attached to a non-creature artifact. Equipped artifact gains “Whenever this is tapped for the first time this turn, untap it”. Equip 1 Smelt 2. (During your main phase, you may sacrifice ~. If you do, add 2 to your mana pool.) “Nothing like a blob of the ol’ smudge to get me gears crankin’” Phyrexian Dreadnaught, quote. Nothing too big, I didn’t want it to be big, just versatile enough. Being able to use it multiple times a turn can become interesting, picture it that someone uses the bucket then hands it over to the next person/item who could use some grease. Nice with Candelabra. The Smelt ability is my thoughts on the Future Sight gig. You can cycle your permanent into fresh new mana when you don’t need it anymore. Smelt = equal to the Converted mana cost here, but that could be different whenever the set this would be printed in is designed (i.e., Smelt for an artifact with a CMC of 3 could be 5). quote: Card 3: Dark Confidant Redux! Black has dark confidant, blue has snapcaster, green has tarmogoyf. I want MORE OF THESE RIDICULOUS TWO DROPS! Can be multicolored. Can be any color. BUT THE CMC HAS TO EQUAL 2!!!
Verduran Empath GW – Rare Creature – Human Druid At the beginning of your upkeep, you may search your library for an enchantment card with converted mana cost X or less, where X is the number of lands you control, reveal it and put it into your hand. You may play an additional land each turn, as long as it is a Forest or Plains. ”Singing hymns in ancient languages, she serves both the land as well as the magic it brings forth” 2/2 I always liked the Enchantress decks around but you hardly see them anymore. This should give it a boost. Picture a hot dame like the Verduran, Argothian, Femeref or Mesa Enchantresses that is also powerful on the attack if necessary. When combined with Argothian you get an Enchantment for this, then your regular draw, play the enchantment and get another card. How's that for card advantage? __________________ I'm a geek, you're a geek. Let's trade.Lord Flasheart: Enter the man who has no underwear. Ask me why. Now that I have more time, here's the explenations for the cards.quote: Originally posted by skizzikmonger: Card 1: Unicron, Prince of Nothingness 5UBR (M) Planeswalker-Unicron +3: Exile target permanent. -2: Each players draws seven cards then exiles all cards in his or hand. -12: Exile all permanents. Dark God. Planet Eater. Dark Lord of Chaso. Prince of Nothingness. Unicron is the biggest, baddest transformer in the transformers universe, and when he's in planet mode he consumes everything in his path (including Cybertron and its moon in the 1986 animated movie). quote: Card 2: Hall of the Obzedat 2 (R) Artifact-Fortification Fortified land has "WB, T, Sacrifice a creature: Target creature gains deathtouch and lifelink until end of turn". Fortify-3
This was the first thing I came up with that wasn't total ****. Came up with the name because of the creatures in Orzhov that have the 'sac a creature, give something a bonus' ability. quote: Card 3: Masochism Demon BR (R) Creature-Demon Haste When Masochism Demon enters the battlefield, sacrifice it unless you pay 4 life. When Masochism Demon dies it deals 4 damage to target creature or player, and 2 damage to you. 4/4
This was a 5/5 with haste and the etb drawback, then I decided to add Char to it. Shrunk the p/t and the life loss requirement, and added Char. Not really much to say about this one.

Actually I did say that everyone would be elgible for the first two rounds. But after doing the judging for round 1 and having more people than I intended, It also dawned on me that having 0/30 for round one immediately takes you out of prizing for round 2. (even 30/60 is 15/30x2, which isn't enough to make the cut to the finals). So Instead I am instilling the bonus round for everyone who participated. Makes it easier on me greatly. As for link, maybe I was insulting. But I felt insulted to his retort for not making the cut. I respond in kind to situations that I am presented. Hopefully, we can move on and have a good contest.

1. Myrrah, Queen of the Locusts 4BR – Mythic Rare Legendary Creature – Human Wizard 1BR: Put a lambent counter on target creature. Whenever a creature with a lambent counter blocks or becomes blocked by a creature, it deals 2 damage to that creature and 1 damage to it’s controller. 2BR: Put a 2/2 red and black Locust Drone token onto the battlefield. 4/3 "They do not understand. They do not know why we wage this war. Why we cannot stop. Will not stop. Why we will fight and fight and fight. Until we win... Or we die. And we are not dead yet." http://gearsofwar.wikia.com/wiki/Myrrah Just an explanation: She is a Human Wizard because she was one of the original scientists who studied the Imulsion parasite; however, scientist isn’t used as a creature type, I switched it over to wizard. Abilities: Lambent are creatures that have been infected by imulsion, the fuel in the Gears of War series. In the game, Lambent creatures blow up when dead and deal more damage to the character – I wanted to incorporate that into the card and it just so happened that I thought making a counter would be the best way. I tried many different values for the damage, and found that 2 damage to controller would be too much, but 1 damage to creature was too little. For example, make a Locust Drone, give it a lambent counter (it can now kill a 4/4 and deal 1 damage to the creatures controller for 7 mana – I think it seems balanced). Locust Drone is the basic creature of the Locust Horde. They all worship her, and what better way to exemplify that than for Myrrah to create tokens of Locust Horde creatures through emergence holes (i.e. onto the battlefield) 2. Titan Engine 4 - Rare Artifact - Accoutrements WUBRG: Add 5 Loyalty Counters to accoutered planeswalker. Activate this ability only as a sorcery and only once each turn. 6: Add WUBRG to your mana pool. Accouter – 3 (2: Attach to target planeswalker you control. Accouter only as a sorcery. This card comes into play unattached and stays in play if the planeswalker leaves play.) Urza crafted the Titan Engine to attack phyrexia, and they uptook the personality and characteristics of the planeswalker that wielded them. (The picture would incorporate many facets of the legacy weapon – throwback to weatherlight saga [skyship weatherlight, power matrix, ramos parts, squee’s toy, null rod, etc.). The 5 color activation cost is in reference to Legacy Weapon. And the 7 colorless is as well – I just didn’t want ONLY 5 colored decks to be able to utilize the ability. This card would need some playtesting to determine a better mana cost, accouter cost, and added loyalty counters (I did the best I could but it was tough), but the flavor is there. 3. Scroll Torcher RR – Rare Creature – Goblin Wizard At the beginning of your upkeep, name a card, then reveal a card from your hand. If it is the named card, Scroll Torcher deals 2 damage to target creature or player. 2/1 “Because pyromania is much easier than literacy.”

So skizzik, is Unicron supposed to work so that it's middle ability causes the cards to be exiled AFTER the draw (which is as it is written). If so, what's the point of the cards being drawn? Bors, Heart of Khalni is ridiculously OP.
Fluffy, I would say magic's "stop" would be Tap as well. I would say that "if a spell or ability would cause ~this~ to be destroyed other than damage, counter that spell or ability." That way it could still be detained, arrested, tapped, etc.
Aether, I think the Empath is a little too good. It would have been fine just with the enchantment search ability. Roc of Paradise is an interesting design, I like it.

I imagine it's intended, a means of devouring, and a pseudo form of mill. Sure as hell be a pain in the ass, specially if with some draw triggers in play :P __________________ I shall have the souls of all who defy me. "Lord Crovax"

Yes, that's how it's supposed to worded. I worded it that way because Unicron consumes everything, and in magic your hand and library are part of everything. I wanted a Mind Twist and a mill ability, but I also wanted him to only have 3 abilities so I combined mill with Mind Twist.

It is very good, but he wanted a bomb right? Plus, no one plays WG in Vintage that is Blue/Black orientated so I guess that levels it a bit, too. (which is what I shot for). It could work in Legacy. Ryan, the wording for your 3rd card needs work, unless I misunderstand. It says reveal a card from your hand. But it will always be the chosen card. I guess you wanted the Cursed Scroll ability? Meaning target opponent chooses a card from your hand, etc. (a bit like Magus of the Scroll) __________________ I'm a geek, you're a geek. I wanted a way only for damage to affect him, yet I don't think you can tell him to drop his tentacle for a plowshare, go back into the sand if venser told him to or play for a different team by beguiler of will. I thought about tapping, but then he can still use his other abilities and in the game, the tentacles are stopped as well. But if I made the abilities with tap, then it would take a lot away from him. I know that arrest would fit, but stop goes away after a few turn in the game and I didn't want another clause just to get rid of an aura after a few turns. btw, I think you have a typo with accouter, either on the 2 or 3

Untap that creature. It gains haste until end of turn. Whenever Master Wayne, the Owlman attacks target opponent discards a card. "Mind controlled by Madness" 3/4 ---http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Owlman_(comics) With such a broad choice to choose from I wasnt sure about this one, I almost went to make a courage the cowardly dog planeswalker! P.s Protection from bats was a little gimmick Card 2 Statue of Augury 2 Common Artifact Equipment [2] Equip to target non-basic land. Equipped land or artifact is indestructible Equipped land may pay [2] to Scry 1. (To scry 1, look at the top three cards of your library, then put any number of them on the bottom of your library and the rest on top in any order.) "The power of hindsight is a wonderful thing." --- Owls/ birds are one of my favorite creature types due to Baleful Strix and Augury owl, this ones for you Augury! Card 3 Scribe Goblin 1R Rare Creature - Goblin Shaman [tap] Draw a card, then discard a card. Whenever you discard a card have Scribe goblin deal 2 damage to target creature or player. "The Goblin Shaman sometimes has to make unlawful sacrifice to better the tribe"- Squee, Goblin Nabob 1/2 --- I havent played magic for a great period of time but from what Ive seen and played Red often cycles cards, and this card combos perfectly with Squee, everyones favorite goblin.

[4] //////////// Kira Color Identity: Black Planeswalker - Light +1: Destroy target creature. 0: Transform Kira. -8: Pay half your life rounded up, search your library for 3 cards and put them into your hand. Then shuffle your library. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ ]http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light_Yagami] Light Yagami/Kira is the main character of the manga/anime Death Note. Basic rundown is he is the son of a police chief and a top percentile student in school, that finds a Death Note(used by the Japanese gods of death, Shinigami, to kill people when it's their time). He is apprehensive at first, but is slowly corrupted by the power the Death Note presents while he is trying to turn the world in to "a better place." He starts out by only executing criminals, but eventually kills anyone that gets in his way, including one of the detectives working the case with him because they got close to figuring him out. Anyway, I want to explain why he has the abilities I've given him: Light (I made him white and blue because he is fighting for the side of the law) +1: He is part of the detective/surveillance team working on the "Kira" case, so "vigilance" seems like a natural connection, helping out his fellow investigators. 0: He is in on the investigation while continuing to kill people as "Kira" allowing him to stay one step ahead. I feel Scry is the keyword with the closest association to this. -3: Well he kills people as "Kira" so kill and flip seemed like a good fit, especially because you can do it the turn he hits play, but it will leave the Kira side at 1 loyalty. Kira (Black because he murders people with little to no conscience) +1: He kills people. 0: He lives a double life as both Light and "Kira" so I felt it was important for this card to be able to flip from side to side, but I don't think it's broken because if you flip from Kira to Light Yagami you haven't done anything with him for the turn, except flip. -8: Every Death Note has a Shinigami associated with it, which the person in possession of the Death Note can see and speak to. The Shinigami offer the possessor a deal, essentially pay half your remaining lifespan to gain the "Eyes of the Shinigami" which allow you to see everyone's name and lifespan above their heads(except your own). This is relevant because to kill someone with the Death Note you have to know their full name. So you pay half your life to gain the "knowledge" you need to be able to kill your opponent, in this case it's 3 cards. I made it 8 loyalty because it's a hard choice to make, but if you choose to it is extremely powerful. Card 2 Harmonic Replicator 4 - Rare Artifact - Augment
Augment(attach this card to an enchantment for it's Augment cost): 3 Augmented enchantment has, X: Put a copy of this enchantment in to play, you may choose new targets for the copy. X is the mana cost of the augmented enchantment, including colored mana costs. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Not sure on the wording for this one, but the intent is that it allows you to duplicate whatever enchantment you attach it to. Card 3 Paragon of Light WW - Mythic Creature - Human Knight First Strike, Vigilance, Indestructible W: All creatures you control gain +0/+1 until end of turn. WW: All creatures you control gain +1/+0 until end of turn. "Stand and fight with me and we shall prevail against impossible odds." 2/2 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Just a really powerful creature along the lines of white's historical two drop knights(go set Gatherer's advanced search to two drop knights ), but taken to mythic OP status. EDIT: Accidentally hit submit instead of preview.

Card 1.) Dr. Bruce Banner 2UG (Mythic) Planeswalker - Bruce Banner When Dr. Bruce Banner has one loyalty counter on him, transform him.+1 Draw a card. -1 Deals 1 damage to target creature or player. Loyalty: 3 *********************************************** The Incredible Hulk Planeswalker - Bruce Banner/Hulk +3 Destroy target permanent you control and target permanent you don't control. +0 Until end of turn, The Incredible Hulk becomes an 8/8 indestructible Human creature with trample. He's still a planeswalker. Prevent all damage that would be dealt to him this turn. -9 Destroy all other permanents. Transform The Incredible Hulk. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hulk_%28comics%29 Bruce Banner is a very intelligent scientist, and the +1 ability is to reflect the intelligent side of him. Every now and then, Bruce will provoke himself on purpose just to bring out the beast within him, and that is where the -1 ability comes in. Once Bruce Banner transformed into The Hulk, he becomes a powerful but uncontrollable being. The +3 ability represents Hulk Smash!, which The Hulk would smash anything in his path, regardless of friends or foes. The 0 ability turns The Hulk into a big indestructible being that tramples everything. The -9 ability represents the aftermath of The Hulk's destruction, which The Hulk becomes the mild tempered Dr. Bruce Banner once again. Card 2.) Metallic-Adaptation 1 (Rare) Artifact Enhancement 3 (1: Attach to target artifact you control. You may only play this ability as a sorcery.)
Enhanced artifact's activated abilities cost 2 less to activate. This effect can't reduce the amount of mana an ability costs to activate to less than one mana. If enhanced artifact would be destroyed, destroy Metallic-Adaptation instead. This is pretty much a reusable power artifact with a more reasonable casting cost, plus the "totem armor" effect. Card 3.) Nevinyrral's Reminiscence 2 (Rare) Artifact Creature - Construct X Tap: Destroy each nonland permanent with converted mana cost X or less. 2/1 This is a very fragile creature with a big effect. I have updated the wording of it, so it can take out planeswalkers as well. __________________ (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻"The enemy has been destroyed, sir.
