Looking back on some Modern Masters prices, I'm pretty glad they made the set now.I like Modern even though I currently don't play it. I like just watching it, and seeing the format build up. Plus I like it when my cards go up in price that were otherwise just sitting in a box. I feel like the format would have been really hurt by the price of some of these already crazy expensive items. Like Goyf and Clique and Bob. They're really expensive, but would have been even higher without the reprints. In hindsight, good call by Wizards.

I agree. Don't forget a bunch of the expensive uncommons that got reprinted too - I'm glad Path to Exile is "only" $5.

Might get to do my first FNM draft in months tonight. Anybody draft a little Khans in the past week with prerelease prize packs? Any general advice to share?__________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!I collect Granite Gargoyles. Send them my way.

That 0/4 black guy? Gold. Also, it's like Onslaught - go ahead and take off color morphs to fill in creature slots. And since there's tons of fixing you can "splash" them.

I played 4 colors in both 2hg pre-release and normal. Split for first in both. The mana fixing is insane, it's everything Alara should have been. Literally was RUG with Jeskai morph dudes, they are grey ogres at worst case (literal colorless grey ogres so even better!) and then later unflip.

Ended up with a solid b/w warrior deck, with a splash of red for Ankle Shanker and 2x Mardu Roughrider. Went 2-1 on the back of a tight game 3 in round two where I could not draw a red source to drop ankle shanker, which would have taken over the game. Anything with Outlast was awesome. Ruthless Ripper was so good every time I flipped it up. Totally gained 20 life off a swing with Rush of Battle. I was winning the game anyway, but I was shocked how easy it was to actually have a pseudo-tribal warriors deck work out. I played it pretty safe and stuck to a two-color deck, and I think that helped me capitalize in many games against clunky 3-4 color decks. It felt a lot like drafting triple Shards. It's really tempting to grab all the 3-color goodies, but your deck will be far more consistent if you focus on 2 and splash the third. Unless you just get the hook-up on super fixing. __________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!I collect Granite Gargoyles. Send them my way.

Jeering Instigator or Monastery Swiftsweeper (human monk) is the only cards I can think of that fits the goblin guide criteria. __________________ 30th in refs on Motl! #1 Ref's for Arizona! I believe it is because of the Jeskai? (RWU) Ascendancy combo decks in modernedit: This is referring to why Glittering Wish spiked up. It is in a deck that Sam Black published on SCG

It's the Monastary Swiftspear. It actually got a win in legacy delver this past weekend http://sales.starcitygames.com//deckdatabase/displaydeck.php?DeckID=73431 and a top 8 in modern burn http://sales.starcitygames.com//deckdatabase/displaydeck.php?DeckID=73421

This might happen if Jeskai Ascendancy gets banned. Otherwise, nah.

Can anyone explain to me why mail is always super slow in the NJ area? I sent a package to another trade on Friday. The expected arrival date was Tuesday. It's Thursday evening now, and it's still not delivered. Why does this always happen? You people gotta bribe folks in the area to get your mail?__________________ "Message to women worldwide: Girls....we're stupid. We don't like games. We don't know games. We can't read minds. I feel like the stuff I buy from NJ usually shows up faster than other eastern states. I guess the problem is one way?

It's absolutely one-way. Packages I get from that area come fairly fast. Sending stuff there is something else.

That might make up for all of the ancient boosters this guy buys and then opens dollar rares.

I call fake. I have seen several videos of him talking and opening old boosters/starter decks and it always seems like he gets the god pack. I think he is just doing it for marketing and it doesn't take that much effort to wrap a bunch of fake alpha cards with plastic. Even if you got all of the cards graded for free, the odds of someone making money on opening an old starter deck is so low (basically, you have to open one of the top 10 rares) and that you would be pretty stupid for even thinking about it.

If it's a hoax, it would take an enormous amount of effort to set up, gather enough mint Alpha cards (including lotus and trop), resealing them in a nice random order, and acting surprised at the end (his reaction seemed genuine and I'm assuming he's not an actor...)Even so, I enjoyed watching it and will show my buddies. I really don't think it's a set up.

Can someone answer me about the Trop position and how it only came near Bayou and some blue spell? Also anyone notice how much wear was on the top of the back of the Lotus? I know condition elitists say no card comes from a pack perfect but that is too much wear in my opinion. Would have to disagree that is reaction seems genuine. Everyone can react differently to different stimulus however it felt very underwhelming. And i am a person who almost cannot get excited/scared/surprised. His friend had no reaction at all. Sure, to some magic players $30k is not a lot of money, but his friend was just "Okay, yea, Lotus, i called it, whatever, let's finish this crap already". But yea, it is pretty fishy all his packs are awesome. He is also sponsored by a store that sells vintage packs...
