about an hour ago I got home from workthere was my dog, Chester, happy to see me. I let him outside, he did his business, and we went back into the apartment. I filled up his water and gave him a fresh bowl of food and a couple of treats. I sat on the couch, he started to get comfy in his bed, and we kinda went to our routine. I was gonna take him for a walk to the park after supper today, maybe play some catch. Then he had a weird movement and I looked. He hit the wall and fell over and twisted. Then he proceeded to have, what I beleive, a stroke. He became very unresponsive, paralyzed almost. I held him and petted him for about 15 minutes, telling him I loved him and I was gonna miss him. That he was 'Chester the Champion, my handsome boy'. Then he died. eyes rolled back, tongue out of the mouth, heaving a bit but no breath in or out. So today, my dog died. I'm going to go out to the country with my dad when he gets up here. We're gonna find a nice place to bury him. Hope your day has been better than mine.

I'm very sorry to hear that B14ckM4g3, it's one thing to know your pet is old and his time is coming to an end but when one unexpectedly dies it's much harder to deal with.

That sucks. I've had a long-term pet die on me like that as a kid, and more recently we had a cat develop a urinary tract infection (presumably sometime in the evening) that nobody noticed until it was far too late... found him the next morning face-down in his water bowl. Had to sneak him out of the house past the kids.Next to that, I'm almost embarrassed to post the conclusion to my Goodwill story. I just received a call from the manager of the local shop that listed the comics... they sent my package out to another customer who resells them. The guy apparently bought like 20+ lots around the same time and wasn't really paying attention to what was what - he just took the good ones and sold them off. So, long story short, the guy had no way to return the lot because he had already dissected it. The manager is refunding my entire purchase amount, and told me to also keep the comics I did receive. So, that means they are probably also refunding the person who they should have gone to... I'm estimating they're going to eat about $40 between the $20 it sold for (I know the auction link now) and the $10 to ship each of these. On top of that, he was sincerely apologetic (almost over the edge). I thanked him several times and tried to keep it light He doesn't know it, but I'm going to send them an appreciation card and a $50 check. Talk about customer service. __________________ **I send in bubble mailer + top loader + soft sleeve**AtriumXP@gmail.com (e-mail/PayPal) I answer ref requests! Rippers, fear my Mail Fraud Form!

I have never really had a dog I could call my own, but losing a pet sucks hardcore nonetheless. My condolences dude. ~Revenger __________________ Motl member since November 1, 2000Your 2008 and 2010 Motl Siskel & Ebert award winner! 38th in refs on Motl! First in refs in state of Arizona! My AC adapter conked out last night. Too bad, it was just two weeks old, and I leave for Croatia Saturday. Oh well, at least we have two other power supplies at home.On the plus side, my first customer service experience with Lenovo was very pleasant. __________________ "I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each. Would Leshrac and/Inca actually see me for an offer for Motl if I was to personally to go to Berkley, Ca (thats where he lives still, right?) to make him an offer? Would be a waste of $$$ if he just flat out said no to the interview, proposition.__________________ Motl member since November 1, 2000Your 2008 and 2010 Motl Siskel & Ebert award winner! 37th in refs on Motl! Cool concept... I've seen quite a few of these "themed obstacle races" popping up lately. Before recently, I've only ever heard of the Warrior Run. At $87 registration though, seems a bit steep even for zombies.quote: Originally posted by coasterdude84: I'm not one to normally participate in a 5k, but this one could have potential:http://runforyourlives.com/

I believe he's in DC. He's a lawyer, if you know his real name (which also isn't too hard to find out, I won't give it out though) you can find him. But he'd still be the one to ask as far as making an offer, I doubt anyone here really knows.

Goas, I was surprised not to see a long essay defending the virtues of getting a master degree after I told you that the academics around me have told me it's not worth it for my field.Revenger, I added a question about buying motl to my message to Leshrac about the rule change, and got no response. I don't think he's interested, though why he wouldn't be is beyond me. Today, through a chest injury, I passed my yellow belt test! As is the case with everything I do, my instructor's biggest criticism was simply that I need to calm down and let things happen. I gained a new confidence in my ability to kick today, too. It was my first time kicking a target in weeks and I managed to knock a classmate back a few feet with my side kicks (he was holding a padded shield to absorb the shots) and kicked 5' high with my round kicks. We did some staff practice afterwards, which was a nice way to wind down after a long day of techniques. With my last major piece of undergraduate coursework done, it's time to start looking seriously for a job. I still want to work for Riot, WotC or YUM! Brands. I honestly don't know who else I'd apply with.

In today's job marketplace I'd recommend applying to a few more companies than three. I imagine WOTC probably gets gigatons of resumes too. What's so good about YUM aside from KFC?

They're based in a city I want to live in (Louisville, KY, two freeway exits away from my culinary school), and they also own Wendy's which is amazing. Honestly, it's a great company. We follow their international strategy very closely in class and it makes sense how they're doing KFC in China and India.Saying "apply more places" when I've expressed that the number isn't the problem, it's knowing where I would actually want to work, is definitely helpful. And that was definitely sarcasm.

Shrug. My experience over the last three years is not getting the job at anywhere I wanted to work at. And I have a much longer list of organizations I'd kill to work at.

Except that is a problem. It is likely you will need to procure a job that isn't on your list before and/or until you get one that is. That's called the real world. The only thing that's going to keep you afloat in it is getting used to that notion. __________________ *My LJ*Letter Bombs!*Facebook*Logout- I had it second!*CKGB

I have enough money tucked away to wait it out awhile. I don't have the ability to deal with stress to work a job i hate just for the paycheck. I've been in school off and on since 2005 for the express purpose of not settling for whatever I can get, dammit.

But no job = no experience in the field you're looking for. Now, I haven't read the entire series of posts by you so I don't know if you've attempted this or not, but you should be striving for ANY entry level job in your desired profession. Even if it is just being a file clerk or errand boy.

If he's willing to hear offers, I'd be interested in putting money towards it as well. quote: Originally posted by Jazaray: So... who're the people asking Mr. Tom Martell to send first?! Thanks, Jazaray
