Use your bombs unless you have virtually no depth in the color. Sealed is also a slower format than a normal booster draft. When you have the option, draw first. You'll need card advantage. And in sealed, when you mull and are on the play, it can be crippling. I don't like to stretch out to more than 2 colors and a 3rd as a splash. If have a real good mana base, I'll go 3+ colors.

watch your curve, play as many creatures as you can. A lot of people make the error of playing all their good cards that aren't creatures. Even a bad creature can deal damage.

mtgfanatic wasn't too bad a place to sell cards. I got the money into my paypal within a week, Starcity was even faster. What's another place that's good to sell to?

ABUGames was a good place to sell to, for me. Their buy prices were relatively close to the market price, and I got the money in my paypal in about a week after I sent out.

I got my 15th QP last night with a very good B/G infect deck (2 Plague Stinger, 2 Corpse Cur, 1 Contagion Engine, 1 Grasp of Darkness, 1 Spread the Sickness, and lots of Infect creatures). I'm now qualified for the Season 3 Championship tournament next week.

I'll probably be doing one or two sealed events this weekend to prepare.

I do more drafts than anything else these days. I'd say the split is about 70% draft, 25% Standard, and 5% sealed. So, I lead off with what I really know.

My advice for sealed would basically echo what others have said:

1) Play your bombs, even if you have to splash a third color. Your sealed deck will be better for it. Pay attention to 6-drops in the format. That's the magic number. Volition Reins, Steel Hellkite, Contagion Engine, Fangren Marauder (I think he's super in sealed, I question whether he's first pick material in draft, though), etc.

2) It's a slower format, but don't go overboard and have no plays during the first three turns.

3) The value of Infect goes way down, because in draft you can depend on others shipping Infect your way and you get the benefit of the Infect cards from three or more people. In sealed, you only have your cards. Evasion, on the other hand, is really good.

4) Play with your removal, obviously, but you also want to stuff your deck with creatures. Some go so far as to suggest that playing with 18 lands is absolutely wrong in this format since it means one less creature than a deck with only 17 lands. I think that may be valid, but the bigger issue is playing with too many non-creature spells.

As far as your sealed pool goes:

You have ridiculous red removal in Galvanic Blaset, Shatter, Turn to Slag, Slagstorm and Red Sun's Zenith. I don't see any notable black removal or flyers in blue or white, so I think that G/R is the way to go. Unfortunately, your curve is rather high.

Beyond removal, I think your deck really needs the Sphere to speed you up and Ichor Wellspring cantrips and goes well with Rusted Slasher and Barrage Ogre. After that, I'd just play with as many creatures as I could fit in the rest of the deck:

1 Shatter
1 Galvanic Blast
1 Burn the Impure
1 Slagstorm
1 Ichor Wellspring
1 Turn to Slag
1 Red Sun's Zenith
1 Sphere of the Suns

8 non-creature spells

2 Rusted Slasher
1 Bloodshot Trainee
1 Tangle Mantis
1 Melira's Keepers
1 Golem Artisan
1 Kuldotha Ringleader
2 Barrage Ogre
1 Fangreen Marauder
1 Darksteel Sentinel
1 Quilted Slagwurm
1 Ogre Resister
2 Neurok Replica

15 creatures

+ 17 lands

WeedIan:

If you draft Infect, commit to it 100% or don't bother at all. I've seen so many people try to do it halfway with awful results. Play B/G Infect with as many guys as possible, removal, and equipment that gives your creatures first strike.

If you draft white, pair it with red or blue. Leonin Skyhunter and Kemba's Skyguard should be first picks, unless you see removal. Own the skies.

ALL of the Zeniths are good and should be drafted, although the blue one isn't a windmill slam card, IMO. The red and black one are obvious recurring removal (I played a draft last week where my opponent played BSZ turn 3 for 1 and turn 5 for 3 and totally devastated me). The green one allows you to tutor for any green creature in your deck (I particularly like getting the Virdian Corrupter or Acid Web Spider when facing down scary artifacts). The white one just gives you a lots of guys and can usually force in those last few points of damage, or at least allow you to block the ground while flyers go in for the win.

Aside from that, the standard rules for drafting apply:

1) Draft bombs. You can usually find them in the 6-drop slot, such as Dragons and Contagion Engine, but Skithryx is a 5-drop and Hellkite Igniter is a 7-drop.

2) Draft removal. Take it as highly as you can, but be aware that Shatter and Revoke Existence only hit artifacts, and while it's almost never a dead card and almost always can find a very good target, their utility can be diminished against certain strategies, as my opponent one round found out when I played Blight Mamba, Tangle Angler, then Bellowing Tanglewurm and died with three artifact removal cards in his hand. Even against a U/W or R/W deck, you may find that it destroys a Neurok Replica, but you're still getting smashed by Kemba's Skyguard and Sky-Eel School.

3) Draft evasive guys. This almost always means "flying", but you should also be aware of Neurok Invisimancer which is unblockable, Tel-Jilad Fallen, which can become unblockable against the Myr deck, and Concussive Bolt, which in the right deck can deal 4 damage and make all your guys unblockable for the win.

In this block, it is very, very important that you pay attention to linear mechanics. I already mentioned Infect, but Metalcraft is also an archetype that can either be ridiculously good or awful, depending on how you draft. When you're playing Chrome Steed as a 4/4 for 4 and Auriok Sunchaser as a 3/3 flyer, Metalcraft is great. When you don't draft enough artifacts, those same cards are a 2/2 for 4 and a 1/1 for 2, which are both awful.

On the card Gerrard's Verdict is Gerrard stabbing Crovax or is he grabbing him by the throat? I understand the artwork if Gerrard is impaling him but there is absolutely no way Gerrard's little ass has that juicer by the throat...

He is stabbing him, but a choke slam would have been twice as awesome.

Ok. Built my cube - no where near finished though, plenty of cards i know are going into i don't have yet. And, is a cube ever finished anyway :s

450 cards (mostly i will be drafting with 5 people, or two person variants)
65 cards of each color. 85 artifacts. The rest an even mix of lands and multicolor creatures (hybrid).
White: 28 spells, 47 creatures. Creature features are some basic beater weenies, control lock mechanisms (spelltithe enforcer, loxodon gatekeeper), and some rebels. No major finishers, but the highest creature cmcs cap out at 5 and there are more 5 costing creatures in white than any other color. Average cmc is around a bit more than 3. Spells include artifact/enchant destroy, pacifism effects, and anthem effects.
Blue: 45 spells 20 creatures. Creature features are a few draw effect creatures, control mechanisms (daring apprentice), walls and sweet flying or shroudy (Sphinx of Magosi and Jwar isle) finishers. Average cmc is roughly 4, probably a bit less. Spells are cheaper, about 16 counters (roughly one per pack i thought was nice, particularly considering how small my drafts will be) and the rest an even mix of draw and bounce, featuring some 2-for-1 effects (Undo and Quicksilver Geyser).
Black: 35 spells 30 creatures. Creature features are regeneratables, things that hurt when they die or come into play, and a few things that can recur on their own. There are no major finishers for black. Average cmc is about a tad more than 3. Spells include a good deal of necromancy, destroy effects, gain life, and drawing cards in exchange for life.
Red: 30 spells 35 creatures. Creature features are a good deal of goblins (enough to warrant adding Goblin Chieftain i think), many of which also have other functions and means of damage than attacking (Mudbutton Torchrunner, Blisterstick Shaman, Emeber Hauler, Goblin Arsonist), and some are strong bodies for their mana cost with drawbacks (Goblin Guide, Goblin Cohort, Mogg Conscripts, Bloodcrazed Goblin). Average cmc is very low, maybe even 2.5. Finishers are a couple dragons and Megatog. Spells are primarily burn, with some amount of land and artifact destruction.
Green: 20 spells 45 creatures. Creature features are mana dork elves (and BoP), basic beaters (Garruk's Companion and Leatherback Baloth), and there's a good amount of creatures with additional effects (destroying artifacts and enchantments). Finishers are big fat beasts i can't remember the names of, and there were enough elves to make me want to throw in Ezuri. Average cmc is a bit high for green, maybe 3.5. But i felt ok about that since there are a good amount of mana dorks in green (plus artifact mana anyway) and green really shines at 4cc. Spells don't really include much pump, more art/enchant destroy, flying hosers, graveyard recursion, and Genesis Wave.
Artifacts: 45 noncreature, 40 creatures. Creature features are varied, tried to throw in even amounts of creatures that supported various archetypes (there are agressive ones, wall ones, etc). Noncreatures include about 25-30 mana accel and mana fixing. The rest are fun utilities such as Prototype Portal, Mimic vat, Spawning Pit, or meant to draw cards.
Multicolor and lands aren't really anything special or worth discussing and i'm getting lazy.

Testing tomorrow and saturday, and really eager to try out every kind of deck i can make.

Does anyone have the MTG game from Microprose where you walk around Shandalar and fight the 5 wizards and crap? I really want it. I was told burning it onto CD would work, but my CDs don't have enough room. I'd be willing to trade someone for a burned copy (refunds applicable if it doesn't work on my XP) if they wanted to help.

I have sold several times to Channelfireball and they haven't had any issues with my card grading (i.e. the bought most at their NM prices). If you're willing to take credit, the 30% bonus for credit from CFB really makes them more attractive even if the buy prices are a little lower. I will be using them again at some point.

I think Blue Sun's Zenith is actually insane. Picked up a QP last night by drafting a G/U control deck where someone passed me P1P2 BSZ with an uncommon missing. Won a couple games because I could draw for six EoT into my splashed Slagstorm for a 6 for 1 blowout.

I think Green Sun's Zenith is way worse, especially for Sealed, where if you don't actually have green creatures to tutor for it is unplayable. In Draft, at least you can draft around it. I've seen my opponent do the search for Corrupter and it was pretty good, but I've also seen them just search up Blightwidow, which was pretty unexciting.

I've opened GSZ in the last two Sealed pools and didn't play green either time because I opened like two green creatures.

After another difficult grad school lecture, I was greeted with happy news: CardKitty is NOT the leading bidder on some of my top-dollar mtg cards.

I can't stomach seeing my precious cards ruined with ugly-ass art.
