I'd cash out and then quit casual magic. I'd only use Snow-Covered basics and/or combo decks. __________________ send ref checks, paypal payment or any questions to the email in my profile! Serra Angel Count: 281 Nightmare Count: 107 DCI Rules Advisor PlasteredDragon - Gone but not forgotten

Supply and demand. for basic lands, if someone really likes a particular one, and buys 20+ from scg, they'll jack the price on them up. Edit: and really, if basics were $1 each, boosters would almost be worth opening again. __________________ "He fights you not because you have wronged him, but because you are there."[16:17] <@BrassMan> what do you need new tech for? http://i28.photobucket.com/albums/c240/caquaa/6d424b15df6d.jpg can I have your cards when you quit? edit: also, are non-unglued tokens in gatherer? if so, how do you find them. I'd like to see a list if possible.

That is kind of what I'm thinking, all the other lands are listed at a quarter.

Things Die now lol. I think Dies is going to be confusing for new players. At least Sorin is a re-print and not a brand new Sorin __________________ Member Since 03/28/2001 10000+ posts 3rd in posts in Ontario 15th in posts on MOTL Top 5 in Refs in Ontario (by people who location posted)

oh god i hope "overextended" happens extended sucks....nothing like playing last years standard again!
legacy is "too expensive" to get into according to people where i live, even when i explain to them that in the long run its waaaaay cheaper than buying standard cards x4 sets a year the banned list looks a little dubious to me though.....affinity for the win over and over again? ban disciple but not artifact lands, lol

He means the Phoenix is good at maintaining the upkeep on Masticore. quote: Originally posted by guru-swamp: legacy is "too expensive" to get into according to people where i live, even when i explain to them that in the long run its waaaaay cheaper than buying standard cards x4 sets a year
Legacy is "too expensive" because you have to drop a ton right away, while with Standard you pay whatever 4+ times a year and is infinitely easier to trade for. Not to mention that Legacy sees a fraction of the tournaments in almost every area. Think of it like this: Legacy is a car that you have to pay for upfront and isn't street legal, while Standard is a card that you have a 3 year payment plan and you can drive it anywhere you go.

Also, legacy is full of cards that used to be dollars and are now many times more. Seriously, the argument that "legacy is cheaper" is not even always correct. With T2 you can easily resell the hot cards for what they are worth. With legacy you have to put a list up, scan them, and deal with endless lowball offers.

I woke up this morning with my alarm going off at 6:30 as normal, but then I heard notes drifting upstairs from the piano. My 10yo son got up early today and decided to do his chores and piano practice early so that we could fit in a game with our cube decks that we drafted and played yesterday. I got smashed over breakfast by a Quirion Dryad, and my desperate ploy to get my Masticore online was met with a Smash to Smithereens. Still, a good way to start the day, and I think that I can be pretty confident that the Magic bug has been passed on.

@psrex, that's truly awesome...and I go out and check the mail. A trade is in the box. I don't remember having a trade out there. Turns out the trade was made three weeks a go. They never replied to my email asking for their address so I thought it fell through. Good thing I didn't trade off their half I guess. __________________ NEQUAQUAM VACUUM If you list one of your interests as M:tG you send first. Hexproof is a perfectly good waste of an awesome word, Hex. It coulda been wayyyy cool and used for something fantastic in magic but instead it ended up stupid. But then again, troll shroud was really starting to get one my nerves too. Around 8 months ago, for a while, a lot of people were saying that 'throll shroud' was "going to be called Safeguard". That woulda been better than Hexproof. Lightning Bolt is not a hex, it should kill hexproof creatures >.>Archon of Justic is back and still ugly as ever. What ugly armor, ugly head, and how does he even swing his sword with his ugly pegasus's horns in the way? They aren't even combat horns, how intimidating. Budget standard is wayyyy cheaper and wayyyy more viable in it's own format than budget legacy. Yea i know, that's what you get with a limited card pool. But i just mean, the best B/R vamps you can get in standard is like tier 2. The best B/R vamps in legacy is probably like tier 7. That's why i consider standard cheaper. I might pay an equal amount in standard over the long run when i could have bought Goblins or Merfolk, but it's also easier for us poor, er budget, players to pay the same amount over a long period of time. And like someone said, unfortunately standard is infinitely more populated than legacy or i would love to tear that **** up with Vamps too.

your budget argument is mute.playing budget in any format comes with the decision to not play at the same level as everyone else. effectively making you a casual player. just like entering a moped in a motorbike race. and legacy is ofc cheaper.
in my area legacy is roughly played competitively once every 8 days. standard twice weekly.

Does anybody know good cards in Standard which nullify (or counter) lifegain decks?
