Heh, I pulled the same trick again in another draft. I was running u/w, and the guy had a pretty bomb and removal heavy deck, and I lost the first game. I sided out all my stuff and shoved in 40 forest and 1 Lost in the Wood, and got him game 2. I was debating if I should go for the same trick again in game 3, but he might try to deck me out this time by adding a few extra card, so I shoved in another 5 forest, and got him again. After the game, he said that was the most pointless match he has ever played. __________________ MOTL Fantasy NBA 2010 ChampionYou know, Hobbes, some days even my lucky rocketship underpants don't help.

So, what is the proper procedure if I believe my opponent to be stalling at a GP? By the time I realized what was happening, it was really too late, and the match wasn't particularly important since I was already out of the running for day 2, just curious what to do if it should happen again at a major event.__________________ There's no need to fear, UNDERDOG is here! All your Gruul Nodorogs are belong to me. I was at the TSP Prerelease way back when. I won handily in the first game. He won the second game with a top deck Phthisis pointed at my Nicol Bolas (OUCH). In the final game, we had roughly 15 minutes. I continually had a better board position that slowly allowed me to get at his life total. He was starting to take PARTICULARLY long for his turn when he realized this, and it got to the point where I called over a judge, which I never really do. I mean, on two straight turns he sat there for roughly 3 minutes and then said 'go,' not playing anything, and then not doing anything on my turn either. At that point, I could tell he was trying to stall/draw 1-1, so called a judge over, who told him to hurry up and watched the next two turns. Luckily I won right before time was called. Oh, and I was 4-0 at the time (finished 5-0-1), so it was a big deal. Had I been 0-2 I probably wouldn't have been like that.

You dont have to tell your opponent why you're making the judge call (though if he is purposefully stalling, he will probably figure it out). Once a judge comes over, step away from the table and talk to them privately. __________________ "He fights you not because you have wronged him, but because you are there."[16:17] <@BrassMan> what do you need new tech for? <<ugh>> I do not have the energy or desire to respond and explain anything. The majority of cards he listed aren't even on my Want List. I must be getting old because I can't tell if some people are sick, silly, or just stupid "YO".

All of the above? Almost as bad as the people trying to buy at 1/4th the price of the card, 50 card...I'll buy for 15...yea...we all would. Either super undercut or offer loads of pointless stuff..*sighs* __________________ I shall have the souls of all who defy me. "Lord Crovax"

call a judge, slow play and stalling is something especially at a big events that we take very seriously. Even if your out of the running we want to know if someone is playing slowly, or worst cheating by trying to stall.

If it looks like you are behind on the clock, (game 2 starts with 25 minutes left, etc) politely ask that both sides be aware of the time and play at a more reasonable speed. If he continues to play unreasonably slow, call a judge. You will be allowed to pull them aside and talk to them privately, depending on the supply of judges on hand, ask them to observe the match for intentional slow play.

Am I failing basic understanding that a BGS 9 Mishra's Workshop is worth far more than $350 when an ungraded NM Workshop is $300?

I stopped reading what he offered after Time Spiral, and even that is a niche card. People seem to think if they talk fancy you might rip yourself off *shrugs*...weird I know __________________ I shall have the souls of all who defy me. "Lord Crovax"

No that makes perfect sense. You trade for all of his fetches, and give him all of your duals. Now your trade list is improved. You know, because you'll need to start trading for the duals once again, to fetch with the fetches.

Agreed. I can't draft mill anymore when they added DA because i don't think there is a high enough percentage of me getting more than 1 Burning Vengeance. __________________ Member Since 03/28/2001 11000+ posts 1st in posts in Ontario 13th in posts on MOTL Top 5 in Refs in Ontario (by people who location posted)

To be fair, he said he was "interested in" and not "for". For would be nearly 2x the value. Stuff like bloodstained mire is around $12-14. There are many cards that guy is offering that would receive more traffic than a bloodstained mire.

There's a Cube section over at mtgsalvation that is pretty good. If you're looking for an alternative to powered cubes, there are a couple nice common or common/uncommon cubes floating around too. I've got a common/uncommon cube that is a blast to run. You still have access to cards like Demonic Tutor and Swords to Plowshares and old school powerhouses like Serra Angel, Sengir Vampire, and Air Elemental are actually powerhouses.

http://www.cubedrafting.com/ EDIT: I have never built a cube, but I would certainly start by looking at some general articles on the format if I were going to. They can at least give you an idea of how to balance the colors and design it so there are multiple viable archetypes for drafters. __________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!I collect Granite Gargoyles. Think they will ever make 4 color Generals, like the Nephilims?I really want a 4 color EDH deck (non-white) utilizing all the creatures that if it deals combat damage, someone draws a card or discards a card (All the specters [blazing, hypnotic, guul draz, hollow, scythe, shimian, silent, doomsday, sedraxis, entropic, needle, blizzard, abyssal], neurok commando, hystrodon, dimir cutpurse, garga zol, mindleech mass, fungal shambler, ghastlord of fugue, cold-eyes selkie, shadowmage infiltrator, ophidian, thieving magpie, ohran viper, vedalken heretic, edric, ashling the extinguisher, spawnwrithe, crosis/darigaaz/intet, etc/etc) with good theme-appropos stuff like Fires of Yavimaya, SPhinx Ambassador, Wrexial, Borborygmos, Larceny, Coastal Piracy, Curiosity, Keen Sense, Sleeper's Robe, Infiltration Lens, Mask of Riddles, Specter's Shroud Would anyone fault me if I just made Glint-Eye Nephilim Legendary (especially because he fits the theme)? :P I know noone in my play group would care, just wondering if it would be kosher.

If your playgroup is cool with it, then there should be nothing wrong with it. Just don't expect people outside of your circle to accept the use of a non-legendary general. __________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!I collect Granite Gargoyles. Send them my way.

I think we might see them eventually, but I doubt there is any hurry. The biggest problem with them is they are too close to 5 color cards. Missing only one color doesn't really do anything to lose something thats been divided in the color pie (life gain, counterspells, burn, flying, etc). When you move to 3 colors you do lose the ability to do a few things when you lose certain colors. Tutoring becomes very hard once blue and black are gone as an example. Take away white and black and you probably aren't reanimating anything. If you wanted to run a nephilim I wouldn't have an issue. I think it would be something you need to keep local because having to ask every time you play and such becomes a hassle and could make people think you're only winning because you've chosen to use a commander that breaks the rules. Yore-Tiller Nephilim is my favorite. I ran it in 5 color EDH for a long time, hes super fun.
