Craterhoof Behemoth Sigarda was insane in a format with limited removal and virtually no sweepers to deal with her. Turn 5 playing a 5/5 flyer that can't be bounced, burned, or destroyed by abilities or spells is just game against most people. Craterhoof Behemoth wasn't played often, but when he was, it was unstoppable. Opponent: "I'll play Divine Deflection for 6."
Me: "Okay."
Opponent: "Then I'll block... Craterhoof Behemoth just boosts up their power and toughness; they don't get trample, right?"
Me: "No, they get trample also."
Opponent: "Oh. Well, all of your creatures are +5/+5 and trample; I can't stop that damage." Soulbounding the Peddler to the Inquisitor just seemed cruel. Putting a +1/+1 counter on Seraph of Dawn with Timberland Guide was also unfair to most opponents. Between Seraph and Goldnight Redeemer, I ended more than one game at over 25 life when I won. My favorite play of the day was winning against a player who played Avacyn, Angel of Hope. I had played Goldnight Commander the previous turn and on my turn, I played Emancipation Angel, returning itself to my hand. Then I played Emancipation Angel again. The +2/+2 anthem effect was enough to push past his indestructible army.

Sigh. 3-0-1 and was #1, cut to top 4, lost because of two games of terrible mana. Not bad for the first Magic games I've played since Coldsnap, but still disappointing to lose the way I did. I probably need to learn when I should just mulligan instead of keeping a bad hand and hoping for a land or two. I basically just play the odds and I guess I lost. I kept hands with 1 land because I figured, 33 cards remaining in deck and 15 lands remaining, the chances of me drawing at least one more land in the first two turns is pretty high. I also kept a hand with 5 red spells, 1 black and 1 swamp. That was a little more risky, but still figured with 6 mountains out of 33 remaining cards, I had a good enough chance. Everything was R, 1R or 2R, so it wouldn't have taken a whole lot to get things going. I dropped only two games the entire time and it was those two after cutting to T4. Damn.

I lost only a single game all night at my prerelease with WRb and that was from keeping a hand with no plains and drawing a bunch of white cards and no plains.In a few games, I had a 10/10 lifelink Malignus

Stupid question... Can any Legendary Creature be an EDH General? Or do they have to be certain ones or types? I am trying to get into EDH but am basically clueless as to a lot of the basics. EDIT: Thanks there, down below =) !!

Any legendary creature can be a general/commander. That card defines the color identity for the rest of the cards allowed in the deck. See here for more info (under Deck Construction): http://mtgcommander.net/rules.php --Evil __________________

Anyone in the Montreal area interested in picking up ~70 used Ultra Pro 3-ring binder pages (3x3) before I put them on Freecycle? A few of the pages are new-ish, most are used but very usable. Please email me if interested...

Well looks like Food Chain spiked a ton, went from 3.99 to 14.99...So glad I picked up some a week or two before AVR..... Now to see if the deck is worth playing in Legacy or not. __________________

I was gonna pick up some foils ones last week, but I just can't see how food chain can be better than aluren.

Where are you getting $15 from? Star City has some for $8 NM/$7 SP.

Why is Bonfire of the Damned so expensive? I don't get it. Double XX equals crap imo- unless it's cuz of the Miracle cost.and why did Food Chain spike in price? __________________

Bonefire is expensive cause mythic plus playable = expensive more often then not, IMHO it will either go up some more or flop depending on how much actual play it sees. As for why it may see play, one sided Pyroclasm seems good, and this one is one color instead of three, which seems to matter. Food Chain + Misthollow Griffin = Combo, and may be Legacy viable...

Aluen is a 4 mana two card combo. Food chain is not... I dont really know if you know what you are talking about

Food Chain has placed in Legacy Opens, to my knowledge Aluren has not, also Aluren requires mana cost 3 or less to use, Food Chain just requires bodies your willing to exile. *Shrugs* If you can find a recent article showing Aluren doing anything at all in Legacy, please enlighten me. __________________
