Read more about AVR sealed events here.I haven't seen the 64-man events in awhile, however there are always daily events with 50+ people held several times a day in multiple formats.

Today I find out that a local (been in the area for 3-4 months now) has been talking to the owner of my Local Card Shop (LCS) about running Game Days/Prereleases/etc. Not only that but he wants to run it in the city just south of us at a bar that caters to game players. Normally this would be a good thing, however, said bar has bad relations with the Local Game Store (LGS) where our 2nd FNM is held.Back when the bar was getting started, the LGS had gone out of its way to make sure the gaming side of it worked. For their efforts, they got the cold shoulder when the LGS asked for some repay on that deed. __________________ <Jazaray> LIQ! <Jazaray> you broke MOTL <Liq> totally <BoltBait> Don't make me kick you <Slinga> Have no fear, MOTL's janitor is here! <nderdog> So we're all agreed, it's Liq's fault, right? <Leshrac> let me deal with that * Liq has been banned

I've only seen the 64 man drafts for prerelease events.

I think it is, though, they've made a number of new types of lands that produce multiple colors so they terminology evolves a bit. The way I've always referred to them are: Dual Lands - Original A/B/U 10 Pain Lands - Ice Age/Apocalypse style Shocklands - Ravnica Block Duals. Still technically duals as they have both lands types. Fetch Lands - Onslaught/Zendikar style, though I've heard them referred to as sac lands which I guess makes sense but feels weird. Check Lands - M10/ISD style where they check for basic lands. Scars Lands - The Scars of Mirrodin ones. Though if anyone knows of a more universal term for the inevitable enemy colored ones I'd like to know.

How about "Early lands" for the Scars dual lands, since they're at their best early in the game?__________________ "If you're right 90% of the time, why quibble about the other 3% ?""I intend to live forever. So far, so good."

They're always called 'fastlands', though i called them 'scarsduals'. I will call the inevitabe enemy color pairs scarsduals as well. Early lands? No ring to it at all.Ons/Zen i haven't heard as 'saclands' specifically, though i've heard them and all the rest of the fetchlands referred to as such, as a group. It doesn't sound right either.

Can't say I ever heard the term "fastlands" before. I usually call them (set name)duals or fetches.__________________ Most References in Massachusetts 80th All-timeSupport my friend's store: http://www.tabletoparena.com

Interesting discussion that spawned on the various lands. I've always just called the Scars/Inn duals by their set name and called the lands from Mxx M-lands.It's still just a preference among the Magic community to call them what they are though, to distinguish between them--not an actual mistake in the wording used. "Duel lands" just make absolutely no sense other than for the ones with Arena effects; there is nothing in the various dual lands that would ever make that terminology correct in referring to them. OTOH, calling all dual-mana production lands "dual lands" does not have the same issue; the issue in regards to those is that it flies in the face of more generally-accepted terminology in the Magic community about what to call the various types of lands that produce multiple colors. Saying that people who call Scars lands "dual lands" is wrong isn't saying that they're technically incorrect, it's just saying that they're not using the same term that most Magic players do when referring to those lands.

No way attacking is overpowered in EDH...not when you can be doing way worse stuff. Sol Ring turn 1 is stronger than Ascendant turn 1. Is it known that the new legendary creature in the Izzet v Golgari deck is going to be an elf?

I just did the reverse of Antiques Roadshow on a non-MOTL site. Some guy got two signed Jester's Caps and perused eBay and found actions like (an artist signed AND altered Jester's Cap being sold by ABUGames for $20+).I broke it to him that it's not the signature of the artist that gives it any value. You can find a bunch of Jester's Caps on eBay for about $2, and the signature will mean that to StarCityGames and many potential buyers, the card is actually worth LESS than a normal, unsigned one. Poor guy. He probably figured he had at least $20 on his hands, maybe more; I don't think he could trade both of those for even one pack.

New "stone rain" is 3R with nothing attached. That's awful. Should at least give a terrible rider like in M12.

Snare the Skies is the best way to do it. A Nettle Swine can suddenly take it down. Beyond that, it's a ridiculous bomb in limited for a reason. Your only hope often is to stall the board with flyers threatening to block it and kill it (Archangel alone can do that), have Moonlight Geist and 4 open mana every turn, or race with what you have (intimidate creatures like Heirs of Stromkirk are great) and hope for a way to finish your opponent like Thatcher Revolt + Kessig Malcontents.

Have we not realized yet that people do pay premiums for signed cards, and it's pointless to post on the value forums that signed cards are worth less?

Some people do, some don't. Now let's talk about foil cut lines.
