While I sympathize with your complaint, I must take exception to your statement. You're far from the only person that throws around "die" like it doesn't mean what it actually means, and I don't really mean to be singling you out, but here I am. Full disclosure, I've done this in the past as well.

Comments like that only serve one function: to dehumanize those who we differ from. Lets be real, you're not telling your best friend to die, regardless of whether you mean it. But we are all people. We're not all from the same country, but we are all from the same planet, regardless of what John Gray would have you believe.

If we want to truly get out there and live, we have to accept that not everyone does what we do, or does what we do the way we do it. By all means, don't deal with anyone whose rules you don't like, but don't dehumanize them to the point that you can tell them to die and not feel bad about that.

Even with Splitting it into 2 GPs they had 11 rounds so i could see why.

they didnt 'split it into 2 gps'. they split the field day1 into 2 groups. they've done this for a while at bigger gps. group A can only play other people from group A, B vs B. its still a single 2800 person GP. the players that made day2 have been merged together.

Do the cash prizes increase with this amount of people then?

If i was playing in a GP this weekend QC would be my choice for sure.

Not sure that means they can change it for a single GP or not.

this is correct. the last gp in germany, for example. germany has strict gambling laws, and because minors can enter these events, they are not allowed to payout cash at all. so wotc had to give out tvs and xboxs and junk. wotc doesnt do GPs in germany anymore...
