I think somebody usually runs one downtown at the convention center. I went to the COK event there and it was well run. I've had a member here recommend Villanous Lair Games in the Normal Heights area, but I haven't gone yet. There's a shop called San Diego Games and Comics in the Mira Mesa area that looks to be very popular and I have visited, but never played at.

I want to like this card, but why did they make it cost 6! 6 for an unblockable 4/5 with the other abilities is definitely balanced, but why not redesign the card a little bit to fit into the 3XX mana cost? This set just seems off. EDIT: I know this is trivial, but I still wish it was 3UU

They primarily wanted it as a finisher in the control vs. control matchup.http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/ld/243

Things have changed a lot since then. When Kamigawa block was out, prereleases were traditionally held in a small number of large venues (I think only a couple in the entire state of Oregon if my memory is accurate). Now that most stores hold prereleases, I wouldn't be so sure that many are held in convention centers now, so worth checking around for current info. __________________ There's no need to fear, UNDERDOG is here! All your Gruul Nodorogs are belong to me. The big events suuuucked. Crazy expensive and only a couple dealers because they had bribed the store-owner to not allow others in. And in the middle of nowhere.

They look to be a lot closer to where I'll be so Im going to see if I can swing by. If there was one at the convention center that would be cool. The wife has a conference there that weekend. But, it's a pretty big (15-20k people) so that would be a deterrent for MtG And, of course, my luck. I didn't do more research. Games and Comics is doing Legacy this coming Thursday. Left my decks at home *le sigh

I like the new 2RG enchant. Orcish oriflame + familiar ground in one package feels solid.quote: Originally posted by revenger: +1. Also is Woodlot Crawler an anti tarmagoyf card?
It's an anti green card, it doesn't seem to specifically hate on tarmagoyf - aren't 'goyfs normally 2/3 or bigger when they swing? This would just wall-up against that since it doesn't have vigilance to counter attack or deathtouch to kill the 'goyf. It might do well in standard against experiment one / flinthoof boar / burning tree emissary / mayor of avabruck(sp?) decks.

I know for the pre-release, you pick your guild and get a secret guild from a matching color of the other set. Have there been any details regarding whether the secret guild is always the same for each guild? For example, does everyone who picks Boros all get the same secret guild? It's unclear from the details here, but it doesn't say random, which leads me to believe it will be fixed: http://www.wizards.com/Magic/TCG/Events.aspx?x=mtgcom/events/prerelease-facts --Evil

No, if you pick one of the RTR Guilds, you will also get 1 of the 4 GTC Guilds (equal chance) that share a color with your guild. If you pick one of the GTC Guilds, you will also get 1 of the 4 RTR Guilds that share a color with your guild. When you are handed your box, you will know which two guilds you have.

So if I pick Golgari, which of the gtc guilds do I NOT stand not getting? __________________ 28th in refs on Motl! #1 Ref's for Arizona! I offer 3rd party trading services. Email if interested. I know how it works. I am asking if anyone that pick Boros will always get the same "secret" guild from RTR. Or will it be random? --Evil __________________ I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds. Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see.

He's trying to say no. It is random. Personally I'm planning on going izzet if I can; still want a chance of grabbing niv-mizzet and izzet makes a great support guild for whoever I end up opening. Either it'll be Boros battalion plus izzet removal and combat tricks (wee teleportal), or gruul-izzet midrange using izzet combat tricks on big gruul creatures and blood rushing tiny izzet evasive ones, or simic with (again) izzet removal and combat tricks, or dimir with more removal and evasive creatures for effective ciphering. Plus then rakdos would be my tertiary guild and any decent spells from Dgm could come in.

No, it will be random. If you pick Boros, in the case there will be 4 different Boros boxes. Boros-Selesnya, Boros-Rakdos, Boros-Izzet, and Boros-Azorius. The To/Judge will give you one of the 4.

Scroll down to the guild pre-release pack table, it will help clarify things. http://www.wizards.com/magic/magazine/article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/feature/244

These effers at wizards are really really smart. I am not sure if I am envious of them or hate them (maybe both?) I can't believe they made such a <snip> set knowing that it will still meet the sales quota simply by putting shocks in them. Honestly, if they didn't do that, I am very sure that this set will be one of the lowest selling set within the last 3-4 years. I was going to buy a case too, but now I am pretty sure I will just be drafting

Aren't you getting close to -6 or -7 or whatever yet? This seems like another tick closer to it anyway. Dragon's maze is awesome. Remember how awful third sets used to be? Stuff like Saviors, Scourge, etc.

Saviors was bad, but Scourge was really fun - Legions was the turd in Onslaught block.

You sir, have no taste (or play only edh). And if you are talking about karma, I am sure mine is higher than yours. And yes, I know there were some really terrible sets, but things have been really good since M2010

There are 26 cards in this set I can use at least 1 copy of for decks I already have, let alone ones I might make in the future, plus all 10 shocks.

Skylasher reminds me of Great Sable Stag. It will probably be a hit or miss SB card in standard, depends on the meta game post rotation.__________________ (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻
