$50 is unreasonable. Unless the prize support is amazing and as a big event, not a weekly thing.I just got my box last night for $167, the store owner is just selling the first ten and has no current plans to draft them out. In my area modern is not a thing, and no one has $25 for a draft. One of the regulars who works there is getting two, he is going to hold a draft for $25 entry, and the first place prize will be the second box (he will be keeping all of the first). Does that sound terrible to anyone else? __________________ Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief, and other vampire females oddities (crimp miscut misprint sign testprint alters etc)My Saleslist Wants

yes and no. it eliminates raredrafting, knowing that you have to give everything back. but paying $25 for a draft and getting NOTHING is the suck.__________________ "He fights you not because you have wronged him, but because you are there."<@BrassMan> what do you need new tech for? <@BrassMan> gush is unrestricted <@Anusien> Pretty sure New Zealanders are the sheep shaggers <KIP_NZ> Anusien: I'm a kiwi and I've shagged a sheep

There will be prizes for the other places, but i already know they will be condolence prizes, not really amounting to anything.I think i'd like to draft my box with the group but have realistic prizes. If i choose to keep the cards i could have a very low entry fee. Could also rare draft. This might be more a discussion for the PFMS, but what about each participant gets to pick one card to keep, first place first pick, down to last. One card each, say $10? __________________ Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief, and other vampire females oddities (crimp miscut misprint sign testprint alters etc)My Saleslist Wants

Paying $25 for a box that is selling for $250 isn't so bad though. __________________ Member Since 03/28/2001 12000+ posts 1st in posts in Ontario and Canada 9th in posts on MOTL 5th in Refs in Ontario Pushing to get to top 100 in MOTL Refs

Lol, it is when you don't get to keep any of the cards, which is what the guy said.

Do online pack price fluctuate much? Obviously, there's really no limit to how much someone can buy, but I would think a limited release product like this might see some price appreciation over time. Or do packs pretty much become worth nothing once events are no longer firing? __________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!I collect Granite Gargoyles. Send them my way.

really hit or miss. some of the really old packs are super expensive. But there's little demand, because no events use em. And if wotc does decide to bring back an old draft format, they make sure events give those packs out as prizes starting about a week in advance. If i knew for certain that MM draft would come back down the road, there very likely would be a price spike to above MSRP. but as the set is 100% reprints, and doesnt add anything to MTGO, i dont expect pack demand to be high enough to push them over MSRP. __________________ "He fights you not because you have wronged him, but because you are there."<@BrassMan> what do you need new tech for? <@BrassMan> gush is unrestricted <@Anusien> Pretty sure New Zealanders are the sheep shaggers <KIP_NZ> Anusien: I'm a kiwi and I've shagged a sheep

It is worth a shot, but it's better to go for the "sure thing" and just buy up a normal set during its release, when you will (generally) be near the bottoming-out point on the buy price, and sell a month or two later when the prices flatten out a tad.

I opened 2 packs. Got Ravager & reveillark & a foil narcomoeba. Not too bad considering the chaff I saw opened. Worst part is my lgs' are selling them at $10-15/pack & actually selling out.

I opened two boxes at MSRP and I'm satisfied with my pulls. One box really helped the other out though.Box 1 V.Clique Sword of FaI Doubling Season Elspeth, Knight Errant Kokusho, Evening Star Foil Maelstrom Pulse Pact of Negation Box 2 Foil Academy Ruins Kiki-Jiki Arcbound Ravager Engineered Explosives Vedalken Shackles I know it's nowhere close to what I can get, but the total SCG value on anything 1.00+ was $760. I'll be happy if I can get $400-500 and keep a couple of the cards for EDH. __________________ The only thing necessary for evil to triumph, is for good men to do nothing.

Good luck selling! I'm interested in how easily movable these singles are and I'll keep an eye on your H/W list. I'm interested to see how fast/much your cards sell for. I kind of wish you bought the box at 225, so it would be more accurate of the mindset of most of the people who cracked their boxes who were trying to sell their singles.

Did a midnight madness draft last night. It was pretty amazing to see 7 pods of people drafting MM at the same time, partially because these packs are so fun to crack, and partially because you got to see the reactions of the people pulling a particularly high-value card. We saw 2 goyfs, 1 confidant, plenty of swords and shackles (shackles in particular seemed to be all over the place), and a bunch of the in-demand uncommons.I made out like a bandit in the draft. 1st pack pick - Meloku 2nd pack pick - Vedalken Shackles 3rd pack pick - foil Manamorphose (looks fantastic) Was also passed a greater gargadon, slaughter pact, academy ruins, and foil search for tomorrow. Got 2nd place in my pod, which boiled down to another modern masters pack for prize support, which had a Divinity of Pride and a foil kitchen finks. Definitely makes those $30 draft prices feel a little bit easier to handle. As for the drafting of the set - it really does feel awesome. So many of the sub-themes have cool little interactions, like perilous research and epochrasite, or manamorphose and sunburst. Such a fun format.
