Well it is a premier top 8 event and was to be expected. You could always play in a 16 man one.

1) They are not firing
2) The usual THS sealed DEs have been taken down 3) The usual sealed PEs only require a minimum of 65 players

Just had a thought, could I pay for a basic store for one month just for the away notification?

1) Mine did. Try queuing in the evening when people get off work. 2) Sealed Theros block sealed is in the release queues. Played in 2 yesterday. 3) Yes and in a perfect world so would the release premiere sealeds. The drafts (64 min) fire off like 5 to 1 compared to the sealed. You think they would learn.

lol you can close an ebay store at any time (eg: cancel your subscription). 1 Month is 20 dollars for a basic store that lets you go on vacation.

Isn't a basic store $5 a month?

Yakusoku hasn't posted here in a long time, to my knowledge. That sucks for me too because I like him.Maybe you want too much for them, or you just don't have a good match for what you want?

Pretty sure it's being influenced by the same factors that have driven Snapcaster up. Without DRS in Modern, people are speculating that dredge strategies might end up working out. On a similar vein...Does anyone feel just a little strange about how crazy card prices have been going lately? I've been playing a long time and my collection, even though it's smaller because of recent purging, is still worth some cash. Most of it from cards that have risen in price 10-20x what I paid for them. I guess I'm fortunate that I have some good stuff simply because of longevity in the game, but it still feels a little crazy to have $100+ pieces of cardboard. I'm tempted to sell out (for like the millionth time), but I always have that fear of regretting it almost instantly. That's even with having not played an actual game of magic in almost two months. Pardon the rambling. I'm sure plenty of others have had these thoughts. __________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!I collect Granite Gargoyles. Send them my way.

Yeah, I was surprised that a lot of stuff I thought to be junk was worth 5 bucks or more. I'm in the same boat, I'm looking at my cards saying I could make a lot from these right now but If I ever wanted them back chances are they would be worth even more then. I have a real sour taste in my mouth from selling my Mana Crypts which while I knew was a card that would never go down I didn't think would increase as fast as they did considering how long they stayed at about the same price. Oh well, probably just hold onto all this stuff until it's all worthless :P

I just keep wondering about who and where these hoards of people are that are throwing their monies at these stores; or is this all about stores' ability to get stock? __________________ "Message to women worldwide: Girls....we're stupid. When it comes to older cards (mainly reserved list stuff), I really think it's just a shining example of supply and demand. More people want the cards, so less copies are out there floating around. Stores have to raise buy prices to get them, which translates into higher sale prices. EDIT: This is an interesting alter. I mean, people have joked about this for years, but it seems bad to actually do it. __________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!I collect Granite Gargoyles. Send them my way.

lol, funny that before clicking the alter link I read your post, agreed and thought, "hmmm... wonder what Invoke Prejudice has been doing?" Jan '11 = 30 Jan '12 = 35 Jan '13 = 40 Jan '14 = 170 Ditto. Being a fan of Harold McNeil's card art as well, I find it pretty tasteless. But, of course, I find those basic lands with big breasted anime girls slapped on them, pretty tasteless too. Different strokes.

Invoke Prejudice is actually the card that has prompted some of my more recent price-related rants. I was thinking about building a Thassa EDH deck and it seemed like a fun card to use as a devotion enabler. Not at $100+ for a card that I don't think I've actually seen played in over a decade though. And yeah, I also think the anime/porn girl alters are pretty tasetless. However, I'm pretty sure my age/marital status mark me as not being the target audience for those cards. __________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!I collect Granite Gargoyles. You know McNeil's a racist right? https://www.facebook.com/harold.mcneill I do like the art on Nether Void and Sylvan Library though

So I guess one hypothesis on why all cards (eternal) have increased so much in the last year (six months really) is, because the average age of magic players has increased the average income of magic players has increased therefore the amount they're willing to spend on cards has increased. That, and other factors such as starcity circuit, the recent beta lotus (or was it alpha?) that went for 20k+ and made news, modern popularity increase, increased player base, etc. I guess the only solution is to buy as many cards as possible and hoard them for years and years till its time to cash out and retire. In the 20 years of this game there's only one rule that's governed the price of all magic cards. They always go up. And only sometimes go down.

Reserved list is where it is at. My mouth dropped when I looked at Invoke Prejudice. I got one awhile back for $30...

It's funny. I was looking at them last fall when Theros was being spoiled. They were pushing $50 at that point for English and I'm kicking myself now for not getting one then. I didn't want to drop that kind of cash for a "casual" card in a deck I might build. Legends stuff is kind of a weird case. The set was so large and the English printing of it was off the market so quickly. All of the stores around me that carried magic were out of it in days. The only store that ever seemed to have any packs wanted 10x retail on them a month after the set was out. It was very rare for me to see a card from Legends even just months after it came out and I could almost always trade away even the junkiest Legends cards just because they were from that set. __________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!I collect Granite Gargoyles. I started playing during Revised. Fallen Empires and Ice Age were everywhere, but I never saw a Legends, Dark, or Arabian Nights card until years later.

Many of the terrible reprints in Chronicles were legitimately valuable cards before they were reprinted. You can thank Legends for printing a lot of terrible cards with names like "Teleport" and "Headless Horsemen", thereby wasting all of the name space, AND for the no reprint list. Worst set ever.

Same the first legend card I saw was when wizards sent us our first "player reward" of our dci membership card and free pack of itallian legends.
