I think Popovich would win an appeal if he decided to appeal any sanctions. I don't understand why the NBA has so many back-to-back games. You start in late October, and the playoffs start in April. Each team needs to get about 16 games in a month, not counting the All-Star break. This isn't Major League Baseball-- quality diminishes when you're playing 4 games in 6 nights. __________________ *My LJ*Letter Bombs!*FB*Logout- MM is a copycat!*CKGB

Amen. If Stern fines the Wizards $250k for having a sub-standard NBA product on the court, maybe they'll get their butts in gear? Cuban in his piece simultaneously agrees with Stern and the Spurs. He is such a successful businessman.

You know who else might have been disappointed, anyone who might have had tickets to THIS game.Heat and Celtics and no LeBron, Bosh, Wade, KG, Rondo, or Ray Allen. Paul Pierce got only 17 minutes. For years the NBA lamented the fact that the Spurs weren't marketable and they were a boring team to watch (as evidenced by low Finals ratings). You're telling me that suddenly the fans in Miami and on TV are clamoring to watch them? I also think coming out and stating his "severe sanctions" before the game was crazy insulting to the Spurs. It basically implied that he thought they had in essence "forfeit" the game and would get blown out. It sure made me pull for them a bit more if only to see the Spurs get fined for winning a game. Pop has 4 rings and is the best coach in the league and quite possibly top 3-5 in history. He gets paid to run his team his way and its clearly working. His B team hung with the defending champs (on 4 days rest) for 47:40. Tell me that won't play into their confidence in the playoffs? Or that the win over Memphis doesn't mean just a bit more to them right now? I can, in theory, understand where Stern was coming from. He has to protect his TV deals and at least show the networks that they are buying watchable games. If only for show, he can say he fined the team but they appealed it down and that was out of his control. Should keep the partners happy. Still, it gest murky when the league starts messing with coaching decisions.

Did you see him trash the NBA's deal with a "performance bracelet" company? He literally took the display and trashed it. On video. Which he posted to the Mavs Youtube channel.

Hate him or love him, Lebron is SI's Sportsman of the Year. Choice quotes from the SI article: Chandler Parsons (in regards to the recent Rockets/Heat Game: I was talking to [Rockets assistant] J.B. Bickerstaff, and he was like, "I left the game and thought you did a really good job. And even watching the film, you did a good job. Nothing came easy to him, and then you look up and he has 38 points." It's frustrating. I would say I played well, but it's tough to be happy when the guy you're guarding has 38." Chris Bosh (Regarding Game 4 in Pacers Heat playoffs match last year) (pardon the crassness): He took the game by the balls and squeezed.

As much as I love me some Iggy (being a 76ers fan), he needs to get back some of that confidence. Also, denver could use better perimeter shooters.

I'm excited to see what a Fisher (never thought I'd say that), Mayo, Dirk, Marion, Kaman/Brand lineup can do.

I think we need some Jerry Sloan back in Deron's life. Man, Deron's demise this season is depressing as a NJ resident.

As much as I love Lou Williams, I just can't stand to see him on the Hawks. I'm not even sure why I still hate the hawks, since Iso-joe is now on the Nets. I probably should rethink my stance on hawklike things, especially as a Falcon's fan. That being said, I do hope that Lou can adjust to his new role as starter, and that Larry Drew gives him the opportunity to continue starting. Solid skillset and a great player.

Hey Kobe, LAC is the new LAL. "I really don't give a s---," Bryant said. Even though he's a rapist, Kobe's my favorite player. As much as I think LBJ is the superior player (in all the league), he won't ever approach Kobe level.

As much as I like CP3 and Blake, they gotta win a title first before they can attempt to dethrone the Lakers. __________________ ****Attention****DO NOT send cards to Jon Strickland, 1971 St.Laurent Blvd Apt 705, Ottawa Ontario, Canada K1G 3P8. He is a known ripper/hacker.

It's definitely the improvement of the clipper's supporting cast that's paying off dividends for them this year. Deandre is having a stellar year, and Eric Bledsoe is probably the best backup point in the league right now (we won't mention the Calderon/Lowry situation, they're both pretty much not backups)okay, maybe not the BEST backup guard... But his per minute averages are pretty darn good. Much like JJ's were playing behind CP3 in NO.

Man, my post was about the BLACK MAMBA, not LAL. LAC won't overthrow the Lakers until Kobe is gone, because it's not just about basketball. The Clippers are a better team, but Kobe and what he creates is a bigger draw than LAC. I just go to watch Kobe. I don't care about the rotating group of characters that the GM surrounds him with (even though I think Pau is a great player). Kobe is never going to allow LAC to be bigger than himself. The NBA isn't just about basketball. If it was just about basketball, you could watch the Baylor's womens' team. Lob City doesn't have to win a title, they are legitimate contenders for best team in LA. If you're going to talk about "better team," right now LAC. It's important to distinguish between good for the NBA vs. good at basketball. It's almost like the point I made about the Grizz. Sure the Grizz are a good team, probably better than the Knicks. But they get nowhere near the Buzz that NYK and Most Improved Player of the Year Carmelo Anthony. People make no distinction between the buzz NYK gets and how good they actually aren't. Carmelo gets MVP buzz even though he's just the flavor of the year (eg Derrick Rose) and the NYK are good because they can rain three's. What happens when there's a drought?

Looks like Sacramento will lose their franchise. I know you guys could see it coming but still...at least Seattle will get a team back.

Which is fine, I guess. Though now its Sacramento fans losing their team, an irony probably not lost on Sonics fans. Plus, how much would it stink to go from having a chance to root for Durant, Westbrook, et al to now rooting for the Sactown poo poo platter. On the one hand, it seems like Seattle's new stadium deal won't use any public money so there's a bit of a moral victory there, but on the other you're taking a team from a very loyal fanbase to give to another very loyal fanbase. As with all things, having two teams move in 4 or 5 years should reflect poorly on the NBA and David Stern (though it probably won't as much as it should).

Wow, so much Knicks hate. Their defense is much improved. They are also playing right now without Raymond Felton and Iman Shumpert. Amar'e is meh, but JR Smith is 6th man winner right now with Carmelo MVP. Their bench is very, VERY deep, with JR Smith, Steve Novak, Amar'e, Kidd (when Felton returns), Chris Copeland, Rasheed Wallace (when he comes back) and Marcus Camby.
