I think LBJ is the best player in the NBA almost no matter whatever metric you want to use. PER, most athletic, best teammate, best person to build around, best all-around player, best defensive player, MVP, best value (if LBJ is on your team, you get the best deals on role-players)...just best in ALL OF THE METRICS. Even if you want to build around CP3 for personal reasons, it doesn't make CP3 the better player. I'll even say that LBJ gets better calls and can flop better than CP3.

You are hilarious to pick CP3 over LBJ. LBJ does everything CP3 does, is 8" taller, is stronger, and can play all 5 positions (generally doesn't do center, but he could magic johnson it for a game or two when you needed).Basically, CP3 is a small LBJ, which is awesome, but just not the same player. I'd say my t5 goes something like LBJ, KD (and I'd take him over CP3 to start a team, just amazing), CP3, Dwight (I'm assuming he's healthy sometime in the next year or two), and DRose (same health gamble, but I'll take it).

quote: Originally posted by speechjew: LBJ a top 10 player all time? If he retired tomorrow, he'd be a top 50. Better NBA players, in no particular order: Jordan Magic Kareem Wilt Oscar Robinson Bill Russell Jerry West Shaq Hakeem John Stockton Karl Malone Duncan Bird Kobe Moses Malone Oh, and Julius Erving, who spent 5 seasons in the ABA - imagine 5 young years added to his stat lines. Cases could be made for about a dozen more players - if we're talking All-Time greats. Lebron can get there, but in terms of modern comparisons, he's got a long way to overcome Kobe and Duncan's career achievements.
If lebron retires tomorrow, he's ahead of stockton to malone. In 5 years he's ahead of kobe and pushing duncan (assuming he doesn't blow out a knee or something career-destroying, which could happen), and is probably the starting PG for my "all-time" team. Right now if I picked a starting 5 across the games of players at their peaks I'd take Hakeem, Duncan, LBJ, Pippen, and Jordan. I'm biast towards Pippen, but I think if you have him, Jordan and any other amazing wing, the other team will not score. The way those two worked together was insane. Plus with LBJ/Pippen/Duncan, you have two guys with PG-instincts (LBJ/Pip), and Duncan who is a great passer, but who can also play with dominant scorers (Dream and MJ) without getting out of their game because they don't get theirs. I think Kobe might have been the best player in the league like 1 year (probably the 2nd Nash MVP year) but I dislike him quite a bit, so I don't mind if we say he was never the best in the league.

This sure has been a difficult season to be a Bulls fan, but stopping that 27 game win streak while reading an article of James going to the Bulls in 2014 sure feels good. Please come back Rose, please?

Chris Paul is a very good player but if your taking him over LBJ then I wonder if you are watching the same game the rest of us are, LBJ is bigger, stronger, faster, and a more dominant player all around than Chris Paul, LBJ is the all around most gifted player physically I have ever seen, I'm not saying he is the best of all time but he does have the tools to be in that discussion if he can get his mental toughness to fully match his physical gifts.

That was an awsome win tonight, but the Bulls have been a tough watch many nights this season without D Rose, please come back soon. (At least I have the Blackhawks).

Agreed about last nights game. That crowd was fantastic.Butler's dunk was awesome. This fan is an idiot. And LeBron should quit whining about the hard fouls. The Gibson foul was pretty suspect so I'll grant him that one but to complain about the Hinrich foul is just being whiny. He's got 60 pounds and at minimum 4 inches on him. He's the one initiating contact by lowering his shoulder. And I can't find it right now but when asked about the hard fouls after Kobe got his ankle rolled coming down on Dahntay Jones both LeBron and Wade said they love physical basketball and wouldn't have it any other way. It seems they would when the fouls are against them.

this has just been super injury fantasy playoff season... I managed to avoid a bunch of late injury bombs, but Batum with the shoulder just slapped me across the face.

No, I mean MM. The NYK homer in him has got to be like, "Look....I told you Melo was awesome and better than what you guys say he is." NBA season needs to end. Playoffs please. And no I'm not saying that so the Lakers are in....wait, yes I am.

WTF choco? You got a problem with me now?50 points is a lot, but it came without LeBron or Wade on the floor. Even I'm not that stupid. LBJ would have eventually had to guard him if he was foing on, which definetly would have changed things. A lot. He dropped 40 the next night. But the most important stat for both nights is the TEAM GOT THE W. ~MM __________________ Blah, blah, blah werewolf. Smackity-smack not a werewolf. Suspicious of this fruit loop. I don't have a problem with you. Remember, my problem is just with the Knicks. It's just that Melo dropped 50 and 40. I know you like the Knicks but you no post. Against the Heat, it was only against Bosh, but no one cares that Kobe scored 81 on the crappy Raptors. 90 pts in back to back games is still good. If Melo is on, I don't think anyone can stop him even LBJ. Good offense always beat good defense.

Ugly win for the Nuggets (11pts in the 1st? Seriously?). 4 games left with a virtual 2 game lead over Memphis, and 3 game lead over the Clippers.

Mavs out of the playoffs for the first time in 12 years. They've got some nice players on the roster, but in starting roles when they should be backups. If they can sign Mayo, Collison, Kaman, and Brand to multi-year, backup money roles, they'll have a solid bench for years to come. Although I could see the Mavs doing a sign and trade with Mayo, and package their lottery pick for a medium-to-high end player. Kyle Lowry? Or if the Celtics want to dangle him, Rondo? Brandon Jennings? Basically I'm saying they need a Point Guard. They've thrown Collison, Mike James, Derek Fisher, and Dominique Jones out there at the point at times this season. Dirk has still got it. Vince Carter has rebuilt his game and has become a very nice complimentary player. Marion still has value as a scorer and rebounder.

Why are the Heats allowed to sit LBJ, Bosh, and Wade with questionable illness, while the Spurs was fined $250k for sitting their stars?

Stern had Duncan in a fantasy league and that matchup basically lost him the week. I'd have done the same.speaking of: MAN duncan had a statistically phenomenal year. BBM has him at the 6th most productive player this season, up from 50 last year. Fountain of Youth: the spurs have it.
