I remember so many of those names mentioned.Just came across another former MOTL user, KIP_NZ, who remembered my username from here. Sad to see the current state of the site, but glad you're all still doing well. I've still been using the ref system all these years, but haven't really checked the forum much. I guess I just wanted to say "hi" for those who are still around.

My son was diagnosed at 10. He does the same thing... plus all the finger pricks for blood tests. He's a total trooper. I can't even imagine doing this myself. __________________ Everyone you meet is going through something * BoltBait is the official holder of the MOTL Logout Button [Trades] [Rules] [FAQ] [Prices] [Card Searches] [Tools] [WotC] [Dominoes] [Art] [#MOTL Chat] [Logout]

Right!! I couldn't either, I tried. Pump therapy, were doing that right now actually for the past few months. What a difference, 1 needle every 3 days. It's a bit harder to manage but she's happy. We got the tubeless waterproof Omnipod

You made a post ages ago and ended it with a comma, which spawned a page full of troll replies wondering what happened to you. I think back to that and laugh a little in my head every time I see someone make a similar typo. It's a shame this forum is such a graveyard now; I only really check it because of nostalgia at this point.

My user name started here and died here but I still see some others use their same name on other boards.

Yeah, I use mine far and wide. Well, in a couple places. Just one these days, really. But still! __________________ "I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each. Any mods still monitoring the BTA? No posts by a mod in weeks. Many open threads.

Surprised I was able to remember my password. Good thing too, since I deactivated the email tied to this account years ago...

I'd say the lack of interest by the owner to either actively be involved with the site or sell it off is the main issue.

I like the transaction rules on NintendoAge, which is like MOTL for video games. MOTL should have adpoted something like they had long ago. Like, use paypal. Users are forbidden from asking for the 3% transaction fee because paypal rules are the recourse if you get ripped. Don't trade with members with no feedback. All users agree to a transaction similar to ebay and are bound to it when both party members accept it. If you are unhappy with your transactionm, you just leave bad feedback. Too much bad feedback and you are suspended from making transactions. Simple and very effective.

I can shoot a few holes in this but I understand your point (for instance, in this case, a new member can never ever trade because he has 0 feedback, which can't be the case).

Theres no perfect system. But there's is better than this one was. Sending arrangements still apply, though. Low refs send first, etc. It's a common sense forum. Definetly more buying and selling going on there considering video games are much more expensive to ship than magic card singles. Someone knowledgeable about coding should check it out. I bet it's real simple to build.Plus, imagine we can skip the whole BTA month long process. Leave negative feedback, file paypal claim and DONE! Edit: Shoot away! I'm down to defend it!(Not like there's any more stimulating discussions going on here than this one.

the site works as well as it did from the beginning, if you're not too lazy to do the legwork to put a trade together. The fall off of people using MOTL may be affected by that, but the people willing to do their own legwork has dropped due to the ruling. The lack of mod involvement currently mirrors that. It sucks but I am grateful to all of the people that made trading on MOTL for the last 17 years possible. I still meet new people and complete trades with them and I have made many friends on MOTL that I stay in touch with regularly. It would be nice if the site could be updated but that ruling by the now mostly MIA mods, single handedly ushered in the decline, no doubt about it.

I don't get why that ruling is such a big deal? If you are sending $200+, why would you not insure it? Packages get stolen all the time.

[/QUOTE]In that particular case, the package was delivered to the correct address. The address was an apartment in an apartment building. The recipient left town while it was in transit without having his mail held or taking any precautions or making any notifications. The recipient was the only person who knew how the package would be delivered and did nothing to make sure it was safe. The fall off of activity on MOTL immediately after this ruling was evident to anyone using the site regularly. Why set it at the $200 level, why not $190. $150, $99. $30? The package was delivered and the recipient admits that he was out of town when it was delivered. Why is that the sender's fault? It's not, hence the current state MOTL is in today. Many of us who send a lot of packages and have used MOTL for years saw this eventuality from the start.

That is some bad form to leave town. Poor guy would have got volcanic islands from someone else, since he needed them for a tournament. Hooskdaddy was a popularish forum regular, correct? That have anything to do with that? Was there a debate among memebers after that ruling that popped up? That should have at least led to rules changes. A package with 2 booster boxes would need to be sent priority though, which comes with $50 free insurance. Did noone care to mention that to OP? It's some BS that the topic was just locked with no further arguing from either party. And MOTLs weak ref checker system is set up so the OP can't even leave him with a bad ref. Hooskdaddy just never sends a ref checker and as far as MOTL is concerned, he never screwed this one up. EDIT: I just noticed that the OP was Canadian. Canada post may very well not auto insure packages.

no idea how well the recipient was known in either the forums or by the mods prior to the ruling but he is well known now. There was tons of discussion prior to the decision in several threads including many posts by then active mods. The ruling change was that DC is worthless on deals over $200. No idea how they came up with that random amount.

Yeah, i remember that case. I remember most people were pretty unhappy with how that case was handled, myself included. I didn't leave because of it, but because no one maintained the site. PS. Hooskdaddy was then saying how he was a benevolent person for suggesting to ship just ONE volvanic from the bondess of his heart. Just a scumbag if you ask me.
