it's such a shame as there are still a decent amount of new traders coming in here. it wouldn't take much effort at all to keep things updated.13 years on here....man I remember back in the day when you could find everything on here. I still have good luck trading here, but the pool is but a fraction of what it once was.

I just don't understand the part where he won't let somebody else do the work to revive the place. That's the part that doesn't make sense. We have people who are interested, who have the talent, who can put up the money; it's generally agreed and understood that this is the best community on any similar such site, and people still actively trade here. I pop in and out but I'm always on for months at a time trading, and I always tell people to check this site out. I just don't get it. Revive it or let it die, but why the languishing? Why the sit and twist act? Also, hi everybody. I miss playing Werewolf and Mafia and shooting the **** with all you extremely intelligent people. It really is a bummer that things have gone the way they have. Thanks Slinga for staying active as a mod, and Junichi, and Nder and Jaz and anybody who does or has done anything at all to keep this place going as long as it has. Anybody gets any genius ideas for getting the reins to this place in somebody else's hands I'm all ears and maybe a few dollars too! Been trading here since I was in highschool and gotten some of my best cards from doing so, wouldn't do certain deals anywhere else.

I feel like this would have been asked once already, and or isn't a good idea, but what if somebody hosted a trade matcher on another site.Like, it can't be that hard to code. Figure out how it's done, and write a script to read your MOTL list. Basically copy the link to your list, the link to the other guy's list. Hit submit. The script reads both lists and compares. The site could probably list your stuff with prices at the same time by querying TCG or something. Seems like some work, but doable. Then it would just be a matter of getting the word out to traders. Whoever makes the trade matcher site happen will get all the hits from google ads or whatever, so it would be worth a little bit of money too. If your site works well enough, just the ability to type up a list and price it quickly would be worth something.

Someone already created a chrome script for this purpose I believe but I've never actually gotten around to using it

Ha ha, so like an MOTL transplant? That could work I would think...this is one of those times I wish I had some skills in the coding department, would love to offer more than just moral support.

You could always use pucatrade.com although a good site I don't like the fact you can't haggle and negotiate with someone and even if you have the points to get a card its up to someone to decide to send it to you.....

Yeah the issues with pucatrade (just actually started using my 2(?) year old account recently) are imo:You can't send cards to someone if they don't have the points. So I found this trader and had like 99% of the list. Go to start sending, noticed the points and that they were in New Zealand. Yeah, um 1 50 cent card... No thanks. Also, if you have points and gave say 1 big want and 30 tiny ones, you're goibg to get all the tiny ones killing your points.
It's not trading. It's getting credit. Idea is sound but I guess after like a decade trading on here, well, I'm just going to use it for literally junk cards. Not going to send a Mox Diamond just to get 800 mountain goats.

lol yeah it has flaws for sure i dunno i just don't post the junk crap that I want I just got back into magic after 10 years and I build a whole modern GR Tron deck and a casual squirrel deck in a few weeeks and all i really mailed out were commons and uncommons i had from 10 years ago that went now worth money so it worked out for me......but also its much harder to be "ripped" on pucatrade the point system is basically currency and you have to send out cards to get money so people are less likely to rip people off in my opinion

If anyone wants to bother, there are quite a few people on the reddit thread that have the Berkeley LGS as their local LGS. Maybe it could be a way to contact those that are unreachable other ways? Probably not but there's the info anyways.

FWIW over 3 dozen new members have registered in September alone. They may not be super active yet but some of them already have refs. When I do deals on the high end group and other places I ask if they are members of MOTL and suggest they become one. There is opportunity for growth if people try and encourage new members to become active imo.

Seconded, that's what I do too. And I feel much safer when they know MOTL or, better yet, are already members.

Is this horse dead yet? So they renewed the site and we didn't turn into a pumpkin...but I'd still sure like an admin to come back and help get the search engine updated through Battle for zendikar....

The longer it takes for specific functions to be updated, the less popular the sites get. Take the search or trade/match function. Fewer and fewer people will come here because everything is out of date.Does anyone know if paying for this site requires a manual payment, or that the money can be cashed automatically? With regards to building a new site from scratch. Yeah, that one died.

Some of my colleagues and I are in the process of building out a Magic platform that would incorporate trader tools. Since the majority of our group plays and trades A LOT, we figured having our own platform that our local community could use would be great.I wonder if we could incorporate some MOTL into platform - importing data / users / etc., and open it up for public use.

We have a team of 5 who are working on our platform. If you don't mind, I'd love to pick your brain as to what's needed. Could I find you on Skype?

Not until next week at the earliest unfortunately with the holidays. However there is a lot of good information on this thread and I'm sure other members would be able to help as well.
