The man you speak of was "Flaminio"....that guy was a total tool bag and full of his ego and NSX. Cool dude, you couldnt afford a Lambo so you bought a trendy cheap knock-off. Its funny, Ill never own a Lambo, probably never an NSX(over-priced anyway, and I could afford one now) but I know people who have....the people who owned a real NSX fell into two categories... A. They tried to act like it was a Diablo B. They KNEW they had a Honda, not a Lambo(the smart ones) Then the people who owned Lamborghini fell into this one category...
A. LOL @ idiots who attempt to say a NSX is even comparable.(I never met a Lambo owner who said the NSX was "welcomed" by their group) Flaminio was one of the very mis-informed Honda owners who thought they were on equal footing with Lambo owners....which that level is stupid total douche...instead of just total douche if you owned a Lambo
Edit: its also funny, bc we had an argument over owning his NSX vs what I said Id pick if I could have any car...a 71 hemi-cuda. At the time his car was worth more, Id love to check the but I know the Cuda went up in value...the NSX not so much.
I was also smacked for being "racist"(from hansolo, who was his buddy) bc I said Id never spend money on a crappy Japanese car. Which was akward bc at the time I owned a Mitsubushi 3000gt vr4.... wasnt calling all japanese cars crappy, just the NSX specifically based on price/perfromance...but whatever. Im just happy someone remembers those old members...even the bad ones. Motl was a hell of a good time years ago
Would love to know what Serrabanger, Hansolo, Tunaboo and a few others are up to today.

Hmm. I wish we could create new forums. Maybe a new post 'old timers of motl, catch us up to what you're up to now'. Maybe have a post where you talk about where your life was at when you first became active on MOTL, what has happened since, and what you're up to now. If one of you don't maybe I'll create a thread for that later. 10+ years ago I wasn't as active on the non-trading threads...was mainly just trading away. Many of the members I got to know well through trading with multiple times or talking with on AIM, yahoo, msn messenger I lost contact with during my break...except that one guy I helped with his thesis haha. heh, or we could just all post on this but i dont think so http://classic.magictraders.com/ubb/Forum12/HTML/014292-7.html Edit. lately i've gone back and done a lot of reading through the archive. don't ask why...i've been bored at work lately... and there are tons of amusing stuff like this http://classic.magictraders.com/ubb/Archives/Archive-000001/HTML/20071219-12-015521.ht ml
I have been encouraged by seeing some of the newer members creating some threads lately. now remember, play nice with them edit 2: it's apparent we need a special section for member discussion. too bad we can't create one. i see we have lots of threads that specifically discuss that stuff http://classic.magictraders.com/ubb/Forum12/HTML/015479.html http://classic.magictraders.com/ubb/Forum12/HTML/016761.html

Anyone who owns a Honda and compares it to a Lamborghini thinking it is around the same 'level', either has some serious personal issues, or not all his dogs are barking. (ok, stole the quote from Samuel, but still a cool quote )
splitting the forum into old and new members sounds like a bad idea. This is how you create split forum sections. Plus, at one point one becomes an 'old' member, would yo u switch after some time in the new section?

sorry i guess what i meant wasn't clear. i meant a separate section just for all members to talk about their lives. one thread within that could talk about what people used to be up to vs now.

I never used the price guide or the trade matcher, and the front page was never relevant. MOTL doesn't need design updates like avatars, images, or other flashy useless stuff. All that sucks is the lack of people.
I agree with Ben on this, though I would note, a lot of "MOTLers" seem to be using the crap FB groups that are "the market" now. I ask "are you on MOTL" and many people say "yes, just no longer active there" - so in a sense, they're using a legacy of the site (their refs), however not the actual site (TA&S / HW forums). I, for one, feel MUCH safer dealing with anyone who has a good MOTL refs page and can confirm his identity than with anyone who has a couple of local friends "vouching" for him over Facebook. Though I have to admit, sellers go where the market is, and buyers go where the sellers are... the snowball is hard to stop.

I agree up to a point. I still think the trade matcher was the thing that made trading on MOTL so much better. People not understanding how to format or spell properly still screwed you, but that wasn't as big a deal as just not being able to use it at all. I do miss some of the old timers though. __________________ "Message to women worldwide: Girls....we're stupid. We don't like games. We don't know games. We can't read minds. Wtf, Never thought wed come back to see thisEdit, sad, ag and I loved this place, made some awesome friends. Hell, when Victoria was born motl peeps were the first ones we told. Thanks for everything Ben, forget all the hate. Sometimes people forget that you get absolutely nothing for volunteering your spare time on here to try and please a bunch of people you don't know.

There's no hate from here Ron and I know all the mods get nothing unless a few members send them stuff in appreciation of the work they do, for nothing. Ben and all the mods should know I truly appreciate the work that they all do and they should know why I feel the way I often do. I certainly haven't kept any secrets on all counts. I, like many others just hate to see this site get forgotten by the only one who can keep it current and relevant to what it's original function seemed to be. I'm just old and cranky sometimes and I tend to replace tact with sarcasm. I also know it's not original.

Thanks for the update, Slinga! MOTL has always been my preferred way to trade and sell online. So many great memories. Keep fighting the good fight.

Still dont know why/how youd think or justify letting a site go to waste when people are willing to buy and maintain it.Hell,Id almost assume in that event of a sale you could probably work out some sort of memorial psge dedicated to the original owner, thus keeping their legacy. Just makes no sense at all.... people say this site is too far gone, I disagree, with a good effort(and there are peole willing) I bet this site could be BETTER than it ever was at its most popular point. Thanks to Ben for being the last mod standing guard it seems, too.
Edit: I mean this place Ive met some really cool people...and had some fun/interesting life expierences. How many people can say they spent the night in bed w Slinga....twice? Lol.
Columbus GP 2010...yolo. ...and for the record that was bs, stu and the other kid were smaller than me or Ben combined. Still, would rather share a bed than sleep on floor.

One thing baffles me. Lots of us complain this site is too old, too outdated, too [whatever]; yet what do people seem to be gravitating towards nowadays?Facebook. Godamn-****ing-Facebook. No reference checker. No organized forums. No BTA repository. No trade matcher. Nothing. I just don't get it. MOTL, however old, is a "light" site (I can check it on mobile or on a slow network), has all the above features, is much safer... just can't make sense of it. Sure, MOTL may not be up to the level of the excellent MagicCardMarket (although even that one has its annoying quirks), or (I imagine) TCGPlayer, but no chance in hell it isn't better than Facebook.

Love this site always have, Been here since 99. i honestly do not know what i would have done (or would still do) without my beloved MOTL.I remember the times, before the Reference Checker. i used to keep track of my references on Index Cards. God i was so glad when the ref checker came around. I still do quite alot of business/trades through here. If we were somehow able to get a new Admin or two, i have a few friends that i am sure could update alot of these tools, (ie. trade matcher, card search, price guide etc...) and i am sure there is quite a few people in MOTL's community that could do this as well. So are we just all waiting for it to never get better? What can we do, i am willing to help it whatever form you need from me. just let me know. Steelerman

+1, I really enjoy this site and with a few updates it could generate higher traffic again. At the moment, other sites are starting to overtake it in functionality and it could go the way of mtgsavlations trade fora

What even happened with mtgs trade section? I got an Unlimited Underground Sea there for $140 around January 2014 and didn't go back for a while. Then I couldn't find it or something. __________________
