Facebook page, probably. Or migrate to the over-modded MTGS forums.

One other thought.... Why can't the community here at least be given the reins at this time. All you old timers who have been here forever should be trusted by now to deal with btas and the like...Ben might not be able to give the proper flags to show Moderator under their name, but could give out publicly spoken trust and power to a few that could act as his proxy. Ya get me?

That would be like following people at work that aren't labeled as supervisors or leads and still try to act like them.

there is currently no shortage of moderators. If there is in the future, I will do what is necessary, but right now MOTL's issues are not due to a lack of moderators. __________________ Selling all my cards. Want anything?

Heh, see now you've got me curious what you can do. I didn't think there was anything you could actually do with regard to those comments. Anyone heard back from lesh or the admins? What are all of you doing to help drive membership? Whenever I conduct deals on the high end group I always ask if they are a member of motl and send them a link to try and get them to come. I also talk with locals about the site.

From my perspective none of them do anything. Im sorry but Ben showing up every couple days to moderate a bta or throw out some random comment hardly constitutes moderating. No one tries to drive membership, all are resigned to the fact this place is dying and they cant/wont do anything. I love this place, and will use it in spite of the leadership here, definitely not because of it. Even talking about this is beating a dead horse anymore. Make a new site or use this one and be quiet is my new perspective.

Driving membership is not my job. From Wikipedia:quote: Internet forum moderator, a person given special authority to enforce the rules on a forum

At this point it is what it is, Ben said he will take care of the mod stuff and he has no control over the facts the admins aren't interested in the site. If that changes I'm sure we will know one way or another. Inquires have been made about buying the site but that is unlikely to occur unfortunately.

Right, as a moderator I will police the site, but I cannot do any of the admin stuff. Administrators and moderators are totally different.__________________ Selling all my cards. Want anything?

Yup. And Dave has probably hired a PI to kidnap an admin and bring him to his doorstep with a bag over his head. Things will be fixed soon.April fools? __________________

What's funny about the whole thing is that for me, personally, as a MOTL member and not as a mod, the only thing "wrong" with MOTL is the lack of members. I never used the price guide or the trade matcher, and the front page was never relevant. MOTL doesn't need design updates like avatars, images, or other flashy useless stuff. All that sucks is the lack of people.__________________ Selling all my cards. Want anything?

i mostly agree but, being unable to search haves/wants, t/a for newer cards is a huge pain for many. and many years ago i used the price guide and some people still would. but ya, the lack of people and postage being more expensive is a pain. and hell, ive found the high end fb group to be more useful than here lately __________________

Adding to this, it needs an overhaul. Features need to be updated (price guide, search functions) or expanded (dividing deckhelp into Eternal/Modern/Sealed formats etc), maybe a (global) Tournament agenda of sort. Re-open the articles section. And I'm sure there are other ideas that could be of use/implemented to upgrade the site's attractiveness. Oh and remove the Auction part. It hasn't been used in ages. I'm no programmer, but it shouldn't be that hard to create? EDIT: For the record, I'll still be here if the site isn't upgraded. It has worked for me as-is and it will continue to do so, but one can always strive to make it better __________________ I'm a geek, you're a geek. I've always been here because the people have always been the best. Everything else feature-wise was and is just secondary. I second what 'Slinga said...the worst part is the lack of people milling around here. There's just less discussion and less diversity and that contributes to why it feels like a ghost town here. Tough to maintain the memberships you had and even harder to show new members why they should stay. I still love the site, flaws and all, and will be here for as long as I can be.

The features like the trade matcher and price guides as well as the large community and ever present moderators are what brought many people to MOTL. The lack of updates and poor rulings is what is driving many of them to other sites that are staying current.

Fact is, there are better venues to buy/trade/sell, and some of us aren't the most friendly bunch either. I have had people complain to me about certain members being overly aggressive in pm/e-mail when trades don't go their way, or when they broke a relatively minor rule.__________________ (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻"The enemy has been destroyed, sir. Here you see another mod spotted in their natural habitat. Be careful, they spook easily. <3 __________________

While I can say that it's sad to see MOTL in this state, I can also say that I never trusted the trading community again after getting ripped so many times, including for an UNL Ancestral Recall. That killed my desire to trade online for over a decade. Then I tried again to trade here, and got ripped again.I do miss the chatter of the general forum. MTGSal is overmodded, as has been stated. /r/MagicTCG is like MTG for mentally disabled preschoolers. Pucatrade destroys MOTL in functionality, and has absolutely renewed my interest in online trading. There were a lot of cool folks back in Ye Olden Days, and sometimes I still wonder whatever happened to Cerberus, SerraAngel, Hansolo####, potm, etc. At any rate, thanks 'Slinger for the update. Even though I had miserable luck trading here, I have good memories of the site. I'll probably continue to poke my head in here and there. Anyone else remember that one guy who would mention having an Acura NSX any time he got the chance? Man, that guy was a dick.
