We are going to do 3 boosters per person, just trying to determine distribution. I may end up just doing 4 rounds and paying out based on record, such as:

4-0 : 10 packs
3-0-1: 6 packs
3-1: 4 packs
2-1-1: 3 packs
2-0-2: 2 packs
2-2: 1 pack

SOM limited is all over the place right now..
I've done like 20+ drafts with a friend on workstation/bestiaire, it's a hard format to draft but it's fun. So much removal.

Almost all the rares are bombs. 90+% of them are first picks.

Grasp of Darkness is definitely the best common though, with Galvanic Blast in second. Then maybe Sylvok Replica, Arrest, Shatter and Revoke Existence.
Sylvok replica is really powerful.

Revoke Existence and Arc Trail are SORCERIES People keep trying to cast them at end of turn / in response. NOPE.

Smiths in order > Ember > Myr > Riddle > Pain > Life
Trigons in order > Rage, Corruption, Infestation, thought, mending
Replicas in order > Sylvok, Vulshock, Moriok, Auriok, Neurok.
Spellbombs > Horizon, Origin, Panic, Flight, Nihil

Underdogs: Lumemgrid Drake, Molder Beast, Fume Spitter

Metalcraft seems pretty bad. They don't need to get you off metalcraft, they just kill your metalcraft guys and then all you have is crappy equips and myrs. Speaking of myrs, Myr battlesphere is SO busted : D

Sunspear Shikari and Goblin Graveleer keep making it around the table. They are the biggest swing cards in the set, sometimes being flat-out busted and unstoppable and sometimes just sitting there doing nothing or dying to random removal.

Tangle Angler is a monster in any deck.

Acid Web Spider, Skinrender and Oxidia Scrapmelter are all crazy good.

Tainted strike is terrible unless you built a bad deck and are playing against someone who sucks. Yeah, congrats on tainted striking your Steel Hellkite and winning a game you would have won anyway.

Accorder's Shield is the best common equip.

Don't play black for infect, the creatures are awful when compared to green, which are all excellent in even non-infect decks.
What you want in black is skinrender, necrogen scudder and grasp of darkness. The rest is junk. Blue/black are really miserable colors.

I've had decent success playing 3 colors as well. Since there are so many artifacts around, you're not dead in the water if you are color screwed for a while and the best non-black removal is easily splashed.

I noticed myr going away real quickly. I only saw like 2-3 come to me. I guess they were really good in old Mirrodin drafts, so people are just rolling with that. I only had one in my deck and don't feel my build really suffered because of it.

A friend has now won 3 drafts on the back of the hawk deck. Essentially just grab all the hawks, idols, and tumble magnets you can find. Snagging some trigons and necrogen censer doesn't hurt either.

The First place price was a PLAYSET of FTV: Relics - yeah, 4 of them.

Opened my sealed product - no infect.
However, ended up breezing to 4-0 (through 4 of 5 rounds) with:
Chimeric Engine
Arc Trail
2 Galvanic Blast
3 2/2 Flyer gain life
Strata Scythe
Quick white beats and lots of equipment
Arrest
Red Dragon that destroys artifacts
Sunblast Angel

Not bad, just wish I had a few Shatter

ME AND THE OTHER UNDEFEATED GUY took a draw, and split the 1st and 2nd prizes. So I got 2 FTV: Relics for the price of a sealed tourney. SO PUMPED!!!

I didn't make it to FNM tonight, so I just played with my cube. My friend made the worst error I've seen in a while, though.

I had Blastoderm in play and then my opponent played Skeletal Vampire. I played Hellkite Charger and attacked with my two 5/5's. He blocked the Hellkite Charger with the Skeletal Vampire and both Bat tokens.

"I block the dragon with all my creatures and sacrifice both my Bats to regenerate my Vampire twice."

"Uh, okay."

"So, I take 5 and your dragon dies."

"Sorry, but no. You regenerated your Vampire."

{insert expletives here}

I played a 7th land next turn and attacked with both of them and untapped them both and he conceded.
