1 Swamp 5 Forest 3 Mountain 4 Glimmerpost 3 Inkmoth Nexus 2 Kessig Wolf Run 4 Rootbound Crag 4 Copperline Gorge1 Birds of Paradise 1 Viridian Corrupter 4 Huntmaster of the Fells 4 Solemn Simulacrum 4 Primeval Titan 4 Green Sun's Zenith 4 Rampant Growth 4 Sphere of the Suns 4 Slagstorm 4 Go For The Throat Sideboard: 3 Sever the Bloodline 3 Cavern of Souls 2 Acidic Slime 3 Ancient Grudge 1 Karn Liberated 2 Batterskull 1 Thrun, the Last Troll The Sever the Bloodlines were fantastic, but I wouldn't want 4, as getting multiples is too slow. Cavern of Souls aren't worth playing maindeck, and I only bring them in against blue decks with counters, and even then, often it isn't that fantastic as they may anticipate this and simply bring in more removal. Acidic Slime were meant to destroy Oblivion Ring or equipment, but I won a game when I played turn 4 Acidic Slime, turn 5 Acidic Slime destroying two lands in a row. I only own one Karn, but I'm not certain I would play 2 even if I had them. They're okay against non-aggro decks, decimating their hand most of the time, and taking out permanents if they have something scary. Go For the Throat and Sever manage to deal with most of the big scary creatures, however. Batterskull comes in against anything with red and can in one swing put you from almost dead to a position where it's nigh-impossible to lose. Thrun was really good at Game Day, but it's simply not as good as it used to be. Counters aren't as good and Huntmaster and Primeval Titan let you be okay with spot removal. Many blue decks have Phantasmal Image or Phyrexian Metamorph to shut it down, so this slot could easily be something else. The three Ancient Grudges did *nothing* for me, but I was fearful of Swords ruining my day. Creature removal + green tutorable guys who destroy artifacts proved to be more than enough. The addition of Viridian Corrupter makes Swords less of a threat, since you can play Green Sun's Zenith for 3 on turn 3 after they play Sword. These could easily be Surgical Extraction against reanimator, 2 Devil's Play and a Karn against control, or Pillar of Flame against Zombies and R/G aggro (exiles Geist of Saint Traft and Geralf's Messenger). The sideboard is highly variable and dependent on what you expect to face; I change it every week at FNM depending on what's hot that week and how I've changed the main deck and its subsequent weaknesses.

I haven't played Magic in years. I'm looking at a return. What's the hot deck right now, and how much longer will it be in rotation? (Mage-blade looks neat)Also, I know there's no more stack. Sad face. But can I still do things at an opponent's end of turn step? Thanks! __________________ the rest of the country must know something

Combat damage no longer uses the stack. There's definitely still a stack where all spells still go. You can still play spells and abilities during your opponent end of turn. You can also still play plenty of spells and abilities during combat. You just can't block with a Mogg Fanatic and have it somehow deal 2 damage to that creature. Either you let it block and it deals 1 damage, or you use its ability to deal one damage. The top three decks at the moment seem to be Wolf Run Ramp, Delver, and R/G Aggro. Wolf Run Ramp (the deck I just posted) which tries to play some removal, lots of ramp spells and play Primeval Titan ASAP, getting Inkmoth Nexus and Kessig Wolf Run, to threaten to kill either through a massively pumped Titan or very powerful poisonous manland. Devler plays its namesake, Delver of Secrets, along with Snapcaster Mage and Geist of Saint Traft. You play card draw, counterspells, equipment, and Vapor Snag to control the game just long enough for a transformed Delver or Geist to win. R/G aggro plays lots of mana guys, efficient beaters, and some burn, along with some swords to try to win quickly. Strangleroot Geist provides some resiliency, Huntmaster gives you multiple threats for one card, and Hellrider can kill during the declare attackers step (this happened to me during Game Day, but I won the other two games). There are other decks that are good, but not as good as these three - Naya Pod, U/W Humans, and control decks see finishes every now and then. Avacyn Restored, the third set in the current block was just released, so the next rotation in the fall will see Scars of Mirrodin, Mirrodin Besieged, New Phyrexia, and M12 all rotate out at once. All of the best decks lean heavily on these sets, so none of them will remain intact in a few months.

Logged into my beta mtgo account. Yup, 4.0 still sucks, and it still hard-crashes my computer. It also looks like pretty much a carbon clone of MWS. I like how they make the interface worse every time they release a new verison.

WRR is probably the best deck. Delver is big, and it's biggest weakness is WRR__________________ Looking to buy any Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief oddities/pimp.My trades My sales

Delver is actually pretty much good against everything, especially with Restoration Angel now too. There are really only 2 good decks, Delver and Ramp. R/G is just a bad pod deck without the pods...

Why is Bonfire the second most expensive card in AVR (at least on MTGO)? Is it that good?

it's not so much that bonfire is that good. but everything else in the set it just that bad. more-so than usual, most of the set is just unplayable in current constructed. __________________ "He fights you not because you have wronged him, but because you are there."[16:17] <@BrassMan> what do you need new tech for? We all have had this experience, or something similar. I remember a day when I wanted to buy Force of Will online, but opted to try and trade for it because they costed a whopping 10 euro's at the time. __________________ /Thunder in the wind/No rain/Peace mourns its passing/"Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind." -Dr. Seuss

Don't even get me going about the time we all laughed at the guy that thought he could sell his Black Lotus at the local shop for $20. After all, who'd pay $20 for a piece of cardboard for a game?

You know you're playing magic for too long when this happens:For an upcoming peasant-legacy tournament (see Deck Help Forum!) I ordered some non-basic lands from an internet shop here in Holland. The store manager always throws in some foreign card for protection or fun or what have you. This time I got an Asian card, from Saviors, 3/3 with casting cost 4U and some tap ability. It took me a fraction of a second to think 'Quillmane Baku'. For the record, I drafted CBS maybe twice in total and never ever played with this card, let alone drafted it. I never looked back to Saviors afterwards. How the crap do I know that this is Quillmane Baku?? sigh..

Baneslayer's already been printed twice; Nocturnus hadn't before now. __________________ Twitter | Facebook | L2 Judge

how, exactly, do these have anything to do with one another?

Baneslayer is "I win" when it hits play in limited. In T2, she invalidates entire archetypes with her overpoweredness.

Cards like Timely Reinforcements kinda sucks to play against too. It doesn't have to be just undercosted limited bombs.

What makes Cosi's Trickster not that good? The lack of an immediate impact on the board (i.e. lord effect)? How it just gets worse late game?I don't know very much about legacy but it seems like there are enough fetches that Trickster should still be a 3/3 most games. __________________ Looking to buy any Drana, Kalastria Bloodchief oddities/pimp.My trades My sales
