Well, it was 4 years ago. Really popular block. I absolutely loved it, great flavor. I am not complaining, however I would have much preferred to go back to mirrodin. Maybe it has something to do with the planeswalker storyline? But a return to plane set is better than no set.

with good reasons (storyline and powerlevel). they've already said that Urza would be impossible to print properly as a planeswalker. either he's OP and banned immediately because, storyline, he is Demigod strong, or they tone him down and disappoint everyone that knows/remembers. Can I point out, how much they also nerf'd bolas?He's an Elder Dragon, who, canonically, without his planeswalker powers pre-mending, was nearly as powerful as pre-mending planeswalker. Seriously, I think WotC just...uh..tried to forget that bit of lore...

They might be wiling to give it a try now that they printed the commander 2014 walkers and Ugin - all pre-mending. However; I think you are right. There's no way to do Urza without disappointing a huge number of players.

flavor wise, i don't think i'm a powerful enough planeswalker to summon urza from the aether. it would feel so wrong. maybe as an archenemy kind of thing, i'd be okay with it.

I remember a while ago someone told me that when a planes walker is destroyed in a game, it is not killed, it simply walked away, that is why it is called loyalty counters, not life counter, they lost loyalty to assist the player. If someone can confirm this reasoning from some wizard article, then it won't be far fetched to print a planes walker card weaker than the storyline cause it's ability is based on how much it is willing to assist the summoning player.
