Wrong.

We're talking bout the G now on my team that until earlier I didn't realize he was with DC.

Being out off that **** hole Florida will do wonders for him.

Aren't you glad I informed you of this ealier on the phone? I really thought about taking him...but I'm content with what's left, still.

Can't believe Vokoun lasted THAT long. You guys aren't doing your homework I can see!

EDIT: Hey Matt, I'm kinda in the same boat with Giroux...I'm almost certain he's going to be a RW but they might make him a center. More than likely Yahoo would just DROP a category off a guy. More or less they will give them an added one for this year and if he doesn't make enough games they will drop it the following, the change wont be overnight.

I'm pretty certain that Briere started enough games at wing last year to qualify.

Vokoun is a decent choice but still a risk. It's a one-year deal and he's finally on a team with talent, so he might succeed. He's got young goalies pushing him as well and he's a pretty competitive guy by all accounts but at the same time, if he should stumble it's not clear how long his leash would be.

It's very interesting to see how the picks are rolling out this year compared to last year. It's only my second year in the league and I like the way the categories are set up.

As for Nabokov, seriously? Garth Snow is going to be a douche and keep him on lockdown as long as he possibly can. Maybe someone will be desperate enough to pay his asking price at the deadline and he will profit.

edit: I'm a bit surprised B. Richards lasted as long as he did. He's not the best +/- player but he's going to be playing with Gaborik and getting tons off PP time on a team with a coach that he meshes with well. The Rangers also have enough decent talent up front other than Gaborik that might benefit from Richards' presence.

edit2: On Briere, pretty sure he will be C/RW this year.

Hopefully, they don't give too much dual position... and this is mainly why i was interested in a ranking list, to see those positions.

Also, about Vokoun, maybe yes, maybe no. He played in a defensive team, not sure how he will will do

Richards lasted this long because A. He's a center and B. people have been fixed on picking goalies for the last 2 rounds.

I personally think he's going to have an even better offensive production output on the Rangers. Hard to argue against a guy who was top 7 in the league in scoring 2 years in a row while playing for the Dallas Stars. While the Rangers might not be that much more gifted offensivly I think he has a better supporting cast in NY than he did in Big D.

Without any guides out there, except the one you buy, its hard to rank the players properly.

I remember my first year, nobody picked Lecavalier until very late. And we claimed it was a steal. Turned out he was bad

Not saying this will happen to Richard, but I've never got to see him play a lot, which is why I took Staal over him

Was going to pick Richards next, had him last season and was able to pick him late. Might have had him the year before, can't remember. Center still has a bunch of players left that can put up numbers though.

Overall there are still a few gems out there, in my opinion, but it's going to get down to real homework time in a few rounds.

Any thoughts on questionable picks to this point? Don't want to cause wars, this should be noted and reminded, just constructive criticism. Might be best to talk about this after round 7-8 or something.

Jesse

The only thing I really question is the goalies. Vokoun went as the 11th goalie. 11th! Not saying all the ones taken before him are bad, and in reality Tim Thomas will probably go #1 overall as far as goalie this year in most drafts. I don't have a problem with these picks but look at the gap between #1 and #11....marginal if at all.

Like I said I'm amazed at this point of the lack of wingers that have left the board. I'd expect them to start to dry up soon, as well as some of the top D-men but you never know.

Really hasn't been a "terrible" pick at all so far. I didn't want to give up that much just to move up a few spots to grab Giroux, but with Tim in front of me and Ray trying to get a deal done for anotehr pick I decided to act first. Maybe I could have waited and still got Giroux...but not only did I have Ray and Tim but Matt is a Flyers fan as well. I just didn't think Giroux was gonna fall to me. He was one of the guys I targeted with my 2nd pick. It went Parise, Giroux,Henrik Lundqvist....had I lost out on both Parise and Giroux. I would have been ****ed if I had to take Lundqvist in the 2nd. I wanted him in the 3rd but as I've been saying I'm not upset to not have him.

I was hoping that Kopitar would make it back to me but I knew that was a pipe dream. Love me some Anze!

Not criticizing because I'm no expert, just putting this out here: I would have been hesitant to take Giroux so high because I don't know how his production will be impacted by the departure of Richards and Carter. Did he play most of his time with either of them or was he on another line? If there are Flyers fans or fans of division rivals in the league then yeah, they might have more knowledge and there might be cause for concern if Giroux was one of your main targets. Just looking at his numbers I'm not seeing why you would identify him so highly. Is he really poised to improve on last years numbers? I don't really watch the Flyers enough to know about that.

On taking Staal over Richards, I wouldn't criticize that choice at all. I had Staal last year and he was dynamite as my #1 C. Spezza on the other hand, well...let's just say you won't see me stealing your Spezza at any point in the draft this year.

Note, did a deal w/ Berenek for:

My 4th and 9th

His 5th and 6th

W/ that it's his turn then Ian's if I'm not mistaken?

Was hoping to get Kopitar, but C is deep. We'll see...

Giroux had the highest total of points on the team last year and his ice time was cut with Richards and Carter being on th team. He's going to draw more attention of other teams top D but at the same time probably till average 25-30 goals and about a ppg. He reminds me a lot of what Patrick Kane can produce offensivly. Patrick Kane is usually one of the first RW's to go, I think Giroux can match his numbers stride for stride...and Giroux will probably have a dual position as in C/RW while Kane will be locked in at RW. This is why I valued Giroux highly.

Nice pick on both Broduer and Doughty. Marty could be a possible 35+ game winner again and Doughty might be the best D-man in the leauge. Again....another reason why goalie is BS. Broduer just went 14th? He might have the best season of anyone next year with Parise back.

Ya, it was only 2 seasons ago Broduer had 45 wins and 9 SO. Just hope he can stay healthy this year. NJD second half of last season proves they're a solid team. I fully expect them to be contenders. And Drew is a monster. A bit disappointing last season based on his previous year, but this kid will breakout in the next couple seasons.

I too avoid taking goalies early, so i hope this pans out. I got a lot of risk on my team already.

I know NJD will be better this year but Brodeur definitely looked older last year. I wasn't willing to risk such a high pick on him knowing that he could very well be done. Still, he should be able to cobble together 30+ wins. The question is how high will his GAA & SV% be while he does it?

Was hoping that Backes or Backstrom made it back to me. Still early but I think this is the right time to take Kessel.

edit: Also listening to offers if anyone wants my 5th round pick.

Toronto had a decent second half if memory serves me right, and w/ that he seemed like a pick that had more upside than down.

Was happy to get Thorton, he seems to be another safe pick somewhere in the pack there or SJ may be a real dud this year but who knows. Think they'll be okay though.

So far so good, lets keep it going.

I'm back.

Kessel is a good fantasy pick 30 goals, and a top 5 in SOG.

he might kill your plus minus, but with Connolly he should be better.
