End of round 7 and you technically have 1 wing......yea, go ahead and pick more of a position you already have filled.

Not many good wingers left, so I'll just settle with the 60points left at my next two rounds. Better start picking players I want before Weedian steal them again :P He seems to have the skill to do that

actually, I'm sure one or both them could have been available next snake, but whatever :P I'll find my way to the top with them ^^

By that time, all the better D will be in my lineup! And we all know D > Wings.... right?

Well, there are 4 slots for D. So I guess having 4 that can score over 50 points (I'm taking the risk that the three D I have can reach the 50...) is much better than having 4 in 20-30 range

Having 4 D that can score over 50 points means you're going to have a hard time getting 4 wingers that can score over 60.

And most of us will still have 3-4 D that can score over 35-40...so you really don't make up THAT much ground.

EDIT: usually I go for 1-2 D that can score 40, and then the other 2 starters I use for niche stats...like +/- and PIM.

I'm pretty sure i can draft 4 Dmen who get 100+ Pims and get some SOG in the last 4 rounds.

I've been in leagues that people only run 2 Dmen the entire season.

Plus there are always Dmen who do well who arn't even drafted (I don't see Myers or Delzotto get drafted but they could easily bounce back from Sophmore slumps)

There are also guys who miss entire seasons (or most of ) who get overlooked in all spots and get picked.

..

I am wondering who will try and grab Selanne, and if someone will grab him before he announces if he retires or not.

Nice pick on Kari stab! I was gonna pick him but with the departure of Richards from Big D I figured it was a tossup which team would have more trouble winning(scoring enough support for their goalie). I took Backstorm....meh, both are injury prone, but play for horrible to mediocre at best teams, but both can play like studs when they are on. Like I said ti was really close but without Richards Dallas truly has nothing in my mind. Loui Eriksson was a guy I wanted going into this year too until Richards left.

Well, seeing how our draft went, I can agree that I drafted Howard too early, and that the last two def were premature. But I play also for fun, and I like cheering for Montreal players. That adds more fun to my games when I watch them.

But most of you seem to believe that I will lose. I'll let my team show you what I'm made off this season. Just don't come and cry ^^

edit : If you are wondering, I was thinking of picking 2 Wingers. Of which, Tanguay was one of them. I decided to go for with my personal taste instead of what is best for the team.

Looking at what's left, there are still many players, not the best, that I wouldn't mind having on my team. And I'll find ways to do trades to strengthen my weaknesses!

Robert

I had to mull that one over because I really think having two strong starters and one guy who can put up 25+ wins with a decent SV% can make a huge difference. I originally hoped to get Backstrom with that pick because I think the team that plays in front of him will be better than the one that plays in front of Lehtonen. In the end, Lehtonen was my choice over another skater to provide more depth at G.

I also think Eriksson will not produce the same numbers this year. In my mind, he went a bit early but who knows, maybe Shron has some kind of secret tech!

Tanguay was on my radar but this year I am trying to avoid players who are linemates. No one can fault you for going a little homer, though. PK will be a beast this year.

Speaking of going homer, I had the chance to attend a luncheon where Jay Feaster spoke today. After he spoke, there was a short Q&A session. The guy was really open about the processes he has implemented since taking over from Sutter and he answered every question straight up, no evasive answers. I can see why the Flames wanted this guy in the organization.

What I hate right now is that we don't have any confirmation on dual position... I was looking at Skinner for some time too and was hoping he would fall under the radar too. NHL has him as a C

Was aiming for Tanguay this round or Dubinsky. Think he will have a very productive year... hope so any ways.

Big note: I am going to be going out of town tomorrow and will have limited internet access for the next week. My next round pick is Berenk's any ways and a lot of players are going to be gone by the next time I pick. Just wanted to say I'll be paying attention to the boards as to who has been drafted and when my turn is up coming, but not as much. Will ask Dane, Berenk, or my buddy Zac (Lotlizard) to drop me a text when I am up or call and I could just give it to one of you.

Gonna drop you a PM now Dane.

FYI,
Jesse

I took Pavelski over Skinner because I knew from experience last year that Pavelski was C/RW. I think Skinner will be a good, productive player similar to Pavelski but the added flexibility of C/RW on Pavelski was the selling point to me. Where are you getting the info that Skinner will be dual position? Last year's experience or just a guess?

Dubinsky is a good choice, I think. I had him on my radar as well but didn't expect him to make it back to me.

Last year Skinner was C/RW. Infact Yahoo added RW last year, so he obviously had played enough wing to warrant the dual position. I know this because in a keeper league I dropped him when he was only C and someone picked him up and right away then he eventually gained RW eligability. I just didn't hae the room on my team for another C, had I known he was going to get that RW position I would have never dropped him. I'm about 99.99% sure that Skinner will be listed as a C/RW. Like I said I'
m a little ****ed that he fell so far now, had I known I would have taken Vokoun over Gaborik....meh, oh well.

I have a hard time grabbing rookies since alot of them go through the sophomore slump year 2.

If this were a keeper league with a large number of keepers ya for sure Skinner would be a higher pick, but then again more keepers changes the game big time.

That's because its not a keeper league. its a "Franchise" League.

I disagree. There isn't a single player from my team last year that would have been worth keeping against the other talent that was available. In this league it would be foolish to keep a G and my best skater was Staal and he went in the 4th round. I really like how daner has this set up because there are only a small handful of guys who are worth the franchise and it's fair that if you get first crack at them that you pay a small premium to do so.
